My father in law was in a head on collision today. Another driver passed out and came into oncoming traffic and nailed him. He was in the white Jeep. At the scene we did not get to choose where we wanted the Jeep to be towed to. The police dept. said they have a contract with hillside towing when there are accidents to be cleaned up. The tow driver was rude and unfriendly. He basically pushed me out of the way while I was gathering my father in laws possessions and said “ move. We gotta take this”.
Not a moment to gather anything. He also said “you can come later and pick up his stuff.”
That is all he said. He did not say that $200 must be paid first before I can get his stuff. He did not say to bring proof of insurance either. He did not say it will be $50 a day for everyday we hold the car. He said nothing. It’s when you arrive at the office is when you get the surprise.
My father in law was in a bad bad accident, taken on a stretcher, and in shock. A little decency in how you treat a customer goes a long way. My experience with hillside today will make its way to many ears. I will make sure of that.
Anyone who is reading this please hope that your car never gets towed to them.
I walked in there with my boyfriend,12 minutes before closing. We were coming from Wisconsin. The old guy, with the shakes, at the front desk gave us a crazy look like he was wondering what we were doing there. Then he started complaining about how we were “lucky” because he was about to close up and wasn’t even suppose to be there. He might have been upset because he was old, he shakes or that he ended up in a job he wasn’t happy in, but seemed more like he was looking to lash out at a young couple with a different color skin. He wanted me to sign some paperwork that was incorrect and while he was fixing the paperwork another group came in. They were older by maybe 20 years and white. He didn’t say anything to them. Whoever this guy was, he should consider retiring or finding a different job. This was a bad experience and as an employee of a company, he shouldn’t have any complaints for customers coming in during normal business hours. The only saving grace that kept me from giving a single star was the fact there were a few good employees. There was the first time I went in and the girls at the front were very nice in person and over the phone. The employees that helped us get to the vehicle and were kind and patient.
got towed bc of arrest, they stole my airpods, told me to check with cops as it couldve been taken as "evidence" have heard that they do steal from a lot of peoples cars

Unprofessional and prejudiced company! The owner of Hillside Service needs to reevaluate all his staff. Reading other reviews, maybe you can benefit from a kind of cultural awareness, since this is not the first complaint that they are racist!
This company seems to have a contract with the Rolling Meadows police department and that’s why they feel that because of this they can treat people like trash. When I called to complain about their service, they said they would see the problem but when I went to the towing yard in Rolling Meadows the workers didn’t bother to threaten to call the police. While I was holding my two-month-old daughter and my 6-year-old daughter and taking pictures of my cars and my daughters, while they shouted at me that I was going to see if we were legal. I’m sorry for the people who have had accidents and have to deal with this garbage company
Unprofessional and prejudice company! The owner of hillside Service needs to re evaluate his/her staff. The receptionist is Rude and unprofessional. Reading other reviews, perhaps she can benefit from a cultural awareness class as this is not the first complaint about them being racist!
This company seems to have a contract with the Arlington heights police department and they feel that because of this they can treat people like garbage. When I called to complain about their service they had no issue threatening me with calling the police, all while repeatedly stating that they have a contract with the Arlington police department! I feel sorry for the ppl that have been in accidents and have to deal with this garbage company.
5 stars all day long! Car was towed due to a wreck. Hillside employees have been Topnotch. From the guy who picked up the phone on a Sunday to the guy who helped me remove license plates and personal belongings to the front desk employee. All were very helpful, very empathetic and very nice. Thank You!
There are a bunch of rude people getting angry when you ask them the simplest question about their services.
It appears that they want you to not ask questions so they can hit you with hidden charges days after you are recovering from an accident.
The staff inside the building was rude. However, the gentleman moving the vehicles around in the lot was a pleasure to talk to.
He was even saying that you can take the stuff from your crashed vehicle earlier if you want to, as long as you sign it out. And when I went inside to ask the lady of the counter, she declined. Saying that it was not part of their policy
My daughter was involved in a car accident in the evening. Hillside came and towed the car right away. The next day we requested that tow the car back to our residence. From the very first call to the time the tow truck driver dropped off the car, everything went smoothly. The lady we spoke to on the phone helped us with all our questions and was nice. We were surprised how fast the driver came with our car. Payment via email was a breeze and we never encountered any problems. The tow truck driver was very nice and friendly as well. Highly recommended!
Hillside towing has been a staple of Arlington Heights for a long time. It was nice to see their "new" location and see how far they have come. Looks like a first class operation. Everyone I met from there was helpful and nice.
Hillside Towing got to my location very fast. My driver Nick was extremely respectful and efficient! 10/10 service and would recommend to anyone in need of a tow.
Police allowed them to tow my car after an accident. I needed to take my personal stuff from the car and they said no. I offered my credit card for the record to pay for storage while the insurance company figured the situation and they said no. No matter what I suggest the answer was no.
Got me safely out of a bad situation today. Towed me efficiently and cleanly when my car broke down in traffic. Operator/driver (Chris) was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and taught me a few things about my own car! Treated me with respect and kindness and got me and the car safely to the dealership
My apologies to Hillside towing. When I clicked to call them when on Yelp, the number it must have called was Priority towing in Batavia. They answered the phone with a hello! I asked them if this was Hillside towing and they responded yes. all other communications were them calling me. I now see looking back on the invoice and checking back on yelp that this was Priority Towing that acted so poorly. again, very sorry for the mistake!
Hillside to the rescue! I was locked out of my car with key fob inside on a HOT day. Hillside responded quickly, professionally and efficiently! Mike arrived and was able to get my keys out of the car to save the day!!! Mike was so nice, and very cautious while getting the car unlocked. Definitely recommend Hillside, and although I swear to never lock myself out again, I'd call them again if I did!
Slid off the road near Palatine with heavy snow and Nick was able to use a wench off of the ramp on the tow truck to get me out. It was not a straightforward tow. Can’t thank Nick and Hillside Services enough for digging me out!!!
Police get kickbacks from this place. If your car gets towed by police after a accident, ticket or breakdown you better pick it up quickly. They hold personal belongings hostage so they get their money and if you don't have enough money you don't get your car. Had 3 bad experiences with them.
Had an accident and Arlington Heights works with Hillside with all towing. You have no choice!! The bottom line is get your car towed out of there and put it somewhere else. The goal is to have the impound fees worth more than the car, if possible, in my opinion. Bring cash and have all your paperwork. They will make it hard for you to get car back or your insurance company to pick it up if paperwork not in order. Only cash.
Had my car towed there after a car accident and when i came there to collect my belongings from the car there were so many things that were missing and no one cares over there. My car charger was gone, my friends make up bag with things inside were gone, sunglasses gone. Also had in the middle of the cars storage some cash and change in the zip bag and all of that was also gone. Very unprofessional and i can't believe after someone is going thru the accident having to also discover that personal belongings are taken out. Who does that??? Very very upset and disappointed in this place. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM IF YOU DON'T HAVE TOO!
My vehicle was totaled and towed here after an accident. I was not allowed to retrieve personal property from the vehicle without paying the towing fee and surrendering my title to them with zero compensation. Pretty sure preventing retrieval of personal property is not allowed, at least for some items. If you find yourself in this situation, see 625 ILCS 5/4-203, subsection g paragraph 4 referenced in the CBS Local article titled Towing Company Demands Cash to Retrieve Personal Belongings.
I ended up finding a junkyard that took the vehicle within an hour and paid me more than Hillside's fee.
Very rude and ignorant workers, actually isolated me because of my race to taking pictures of my wife's crashed car that they towed. My family is a different race and this guy let everyone see the car but me. I called AHPD and was able to see and take pictures of the crashed car. This place should not be in business if they can't accommodate all races of people.
My vehicle was towed and when I recieved it it had a blowout tired. Call to see if they could help out , they said it was already like that. Which it wasnt because I'm sure the own owner of the vehicle would've noticed. Just suck that I have to pay out my pocket for a mistake they made. Keep in mind I paid them 250 now I gotta pay a cost for a new tire.
The man who towed the car was wonderful the women at the tow office was horribly nasty and unprofessional, dressed in pajamas. Sad that she should be the face of this company her name was Estella hopefully no one gets the chance to meet her.
GREAT PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS SERVICE FROM PEPPER. SHE IS ALWAYS VERY ATTENTIVE, EXTREMELY HELPFUL, KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND VERY CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED.
