I appreciate the hard working men there but I am disappointed with their service today.
In the past, they've always counted my light weight bottles and so I assumed it their policy until today when they simply weighed them. I had 62 of those bottles and don't think them weighing it "refunded" me the money I'd paid at the store when I purchased the water. I called their office and learned that one has to ask before individual counts are done otherwise just weighed. This would've been helpful to know or at least be given the choice on what to do. Of course I know it saves them time & money simply weighing versus counting. The recycling company gains with that option especially for light weighted bottles. We pay the bottle fees at purchase and it'll be important for us to get it all back at recycle, especially since we go through the hassle of taking them back for recycling. I am not satisfied with the service I received there today because I did not get all my money back.
Please ask for a count to ensure you receive what was charged at the store.
I am very disappointed with the staff here. Today, Tuesday, October 8th, I checked online and saw that the operating hours are until 4:45 PM, so I arrived before 4:30 PM. To my surprise, the staff said they had already stopped serving new customers. There were still a full 15 minutes before closing time. Is the standard for operating hours changed arbitrarily like this? Since I drove here, I had no choice but to load the items back into my car. I also saw several elderly people arriving after me, either walking or pushing carts, and they, too, had to leave helplessly. I am very disappointed with the service here.
Employees don't want to work. I ran for 30 minutes after seeing the information on Google that said it would end at 3:30, but they told me to leave because I arrived before 3 and couldn't work any more. My hour was gone.
Recycling in Hawaii is already a huge hassle, but this place is the least hassle. Don't plan for it to be quick because you still need to wait for the pre-sort trash cans, then you can wait in line.
They told me they were closed when I got there even though it was only 4:15pm. Get there early because they don't want to work. Store hours say 4:45 they close.
Went to do my recycles at beretania , the computer froze and they only paid me for half of my recycles. I am waiting on someone to contact me to pick up the rest of my money it's been 2 days now . The / men who were working there on April 14,2023 was very nice !

They mess with the scales at the Honolulu locations. I have had things weigh 1-2 times less than they should. I have even refused to sell and went to monster recycling and was paid twice as much. Don't trust the sleezy guys who work the scale. All they gotta do is put something under the scale. Kinda sad cuz it's means they rip off all the homeless people who look for cans
Good spot for HI5 recycling. They were helpful and efficient. They no longer accept any other recyclables, however. I'll repeat that: ONLY HI5 RECYCLING.
Not busy on a Thursday afternoon at 2 pm. Wish the parking spots were marked because there are some creative, grumpy people who will block your car and not move until he/she is finished unloading their recyclables. Other than that, the people here are friendly and everything happens relatively quickly.
In my experience, the employees at RRR Recycling Center are always friendly & hard working!
They have sorted my recyclables for me before, when there wasn't any other customers to serve, which I felt was really thoughtful. They definitely go above & beyond when it comes to customer care.
There is usually an abundance of empty trash bins to sort your recyclables ahead of time or while you're waiting in line for service. I'm not fan of trying to fight other patrons by grabbing trash bins to sort. The site is basically a big empty lot with gravel, so I bring water or hand sanitizer since they evitably get sticky & there arent bathrooms or a hose to rinse off after. But on the upside, there is ample parking!
I have never received anything less than what was fair in monetary value in exchange for my bottles/cans, compared to other recycling centers. I have unfortunately been taken advantage of previously, & I only know that for a fact because it was quite obvious they were skimming from their customers earnings by getting greedy.

It's one of the smaller locations and easy to miss if you've never been there. Due to it's size, it's often got a line that could hold you for a while. Best to have all the caps off your bottles and everything sorted prior to coming in.
Small plastic bottles, large plastic bottles (16oz or larger), glass bottles (no large glass bottles like wine or similarly sized alcohol bottles), cans (not the steel cans like for soups and those steel looking beverage cans).
Just do what the more experienced people do and you'll be fine. Lots of aloha there and people willing to help if you don't know.
They just laid down cement in the can deposit area, and the have it set up with cones and such to clearly define the lines. So, this place a got a big upgrade from the way it has been for years.
This center in Hawaii Kai is worth the drive. The guys here are very kind and go out of their way to help an aunty get her stuff to the truck. Weekdays are best and lunch break is 12 to 1;30. Right now they are open Tuesday thru Thursday and I thin Saturday but they may have re-added fridays. Always closed Sunday and Monday
This place is disgusting. Dirty, sticky containers and huge potholes. Almost wrecked my car there today as there was a deep, muddy water filled pothole that was about 6 feet in diameter on entry. Hard to get around. Not worth going there.
Worst service I have experienced here. I inadvertently had some plastic containers in the wrong garbage can and the guy threw the plastic into my glass garbage can. When I went to take them out and put them where they were supposed to go he threw more plastic containers on my head. No apology from the guy and he did it repeatedly So it wasnt by accident. Later while I was waiting for them to cash me out a different worker inadvertently hit me with a bottle cap. He at least apologized. If it weren't for the convenient location this would have gotten zero stars.
got there (kaneohe) at 5:02, and nobody would even look at me! I had run out of gas as well and needed to get back to laie AND NOBODY WOULD EVEN LOOK AT ME!! lucky I have friends that help me, because I sure wasn't getting any help here!! horrible customer relations!
