The female at the desk. I got no receipt. So I probably got screwed! I weighed my own aluminum scrap. The amount she gave me didn't add up to the weight. Today I learned my lesson. I will not bring anymore Aluminum scrap there. Bad business! There are other scrapyards that will give you a receipt and have everything printed on the the ticket. Go elsewhere.
You know when you don't get a receipt you just got screwed over. As soon as I pulled up the guy helping me was looking to find any reason he could to pay me less for my metal. I don't recommend this place to my worst enemy. And if anyone could help me find an honest scrap metal yard in the area I would greatly appreciate the help... I think I'll just rather throw my stuff away...
These folks are awesome. They watch out so that you don't throw good stuff off in the iron pile. They get to know you. The guys in the yard all the way to the lady at the pay window are wonderful. Seriously, all of them are friendly, welcoming and have great attitudes. They want your business. Go here and get treated like your important and enjoy recycling while getting paid.
This company is a joke and they're thefts!!!
To scrap a vehicle they have "complete" or "not". Now complete is with the battery, engine, trans, rear end, TIRES, etc everything there to make it run. But they duduct for the rubber tires and the battery scrap is $.20 lbs which will give you more money in your pocket. Called them and asked the questions and I will NEVER do business with these low life trash people!!!
I own a body shop and decided to take about 60 aluminum radiators to Big Iron. I went there because it is well known because it's in a really commercial location. Once I got there they weighed everything and the lady there gave me the quote for how much she was going to give me for all the aluminum. It was less than 100 dollars. I was quite surprised because i thought I was at least going to get 250. The lady told me that the aluminum was really dirty and the market for dirt aluminum was really low. So I took her word for it because she was really nice. I left with 96 dollars really dissatisfied. I went to the body shop and picked up what was left over that couldn't fit in the trailer I took. There where about 20 radiators. So I took the radiators to the other scrap metal place that I believe is called Heavy Metal. It was harder to find but I found it and saw that they had way more modern equipment and their service was much better. Once they weighed everything the cashier valued my radiators for 150. I was surprised to see that they were paying more than double the price per pound. I left that place really glad but really resentful against Big Iron.
I don't know why Big Iron pays so little. Maybe it's because they have to pay too much overhead for the place they're in. Or maybe they're just greedy.
Good service. I feel like I'm not being ripped off. I can see exactly how much I got for each item, it is very professional , and I enjoy coming here and making money
