This is the most honest repair shop I have ever come in contact with. Went in for what I believed would be severe however, they assured me that no action was needed. Any other auto repair shop could have made this a big thing but they were happy to send me away with no concerns.
This place was recommended by my mechanic and didn’t disappoint. They did a free analysis to see what was wrong, printed it out and explained it in terms I could understand. The issue was fixed in less than an hour and they even fixed some small things at no charge. I would highly recommend Yankee muffler, everyone was super nice as well!

I took my car to Yankee Discount Muffler for a wheel bearing they did not know what they were doing it took 3 days. They did not have the right tools or knowlege they put in used parts that did not last. I DROVE A HALF A MILE AND THE WHEEL WENT SIDEWAYS. DID NOT PUT NUT ON THE BALLJOINT .The owner very nasty to me .does not stand behind his work refused to return the money. Went to another repair shop job was done in two hours for half the money with new parts mechanic told me Yankee Discount left wheel bearing nut loose so bearing got damaged!
My son was driving his 2003 Toyota Rav4 and ran over some depris after the recent storm and the muffler flange cracked off in two (2) spots. The muffler also broke off from the exhaust and had two (2) holes in the exhaust. I called Yankee at around 2PM on a Wednesday and I was advised to come to the shop immediately. After inspection from the under carriage, it was determined a repair was possible. Instead of installing a brand new exhaust system and muffler, the Yankee team saved my family and I thousands of dollars. I wholeheartedly recommend Yankee and they have customers for life! Out of this WORLD customer service. I say this as a woman walking into the shop alone. These guys show you what is going on, what they can do and then give you a more than fair price. I wish they were a full service shop. I came from New Haven county to have them work on my car because I know I will be treated well and have great work done on my car.
Wow!!! Fantastic customer service. I pulled up and was greeted immediately, problem diagnosed and paid a fraction of the cost to fix. Was quoted $2000 from other places but fix was only $300 from Yankee! I strongly recommend this place. Great job and honest. Thank you Yankee Muffler!!
When my wife's old 1996 Honda Accord exhaust pipe could not be patched up anymore, we were looking at either shelling out up to 2k or even more for a new exhaust system - more than the car is worth - or resigning ourselves to hearing that loud sound you hear when your muffler goes.
Except it wasn't the muffler it was the whole thing, filled with holes in the rusted out metal.
They were able to rebuild the exhaust, complete with a new muffler, for just under $750. This included a discount on the muffler. The owner gave me this because they had initially misdiagnosed the problem which meant I wasn't happy and a little suspicious when asked to pay more. He explained clearly what happened and most importantly made it right. They are honest people.
$250 fix for a repair that would otherwise force me to SCRAP my lovely Saab (an exhaust replacement would exceed book value of car).
I came all the way from Greenwich to this shop, at the recommendation of Keal at European Auto Center (my main local shop), and I am very glad I took his advice!

I had a great experience at this business today - I was in and out in 45 minutes and it was the best price. They didn’t use clamps on the muffler instead they welded it. Great job! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Brought in my older 2004 Lexus in hoping to avoid an expensive exhaust rebuild. Absolutely satisfied with the entire process. Three different areas needed to be repaired, and it was all done in just over an hour for a great price. My car has not sounded this quiet since it was brand new! Highly recommend!

If I could rate them 6 stars I would have. Everybody there was extremely friendly and they saved me $900. Let me repeat and spell it out, THEY SAVED ME NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS! I couldn't be happier. If you ever have an issue with your muffler, or other car issues like shocks, brakes or alignments, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to go anywhere else before going here first. If you do go somewhere else first, come here for a second opinion, it'll be worth it.
They went over everything with me and made me understand exactly what's wrong and how they can fix it. Their ads are not deceptive. Yankee Discount Muffler is in fact the best in town. Quality service with a smile. I hope to never have to see them again, but if my car has another issue in the future, I'm going straight to Yankee Discount Muffler to get it serviced.
They fix a muffler in my van very well , at the same time made a damage in the boarding step and they didn't fixed.
The people said a little bit you didn't notice and refuse to fix. No so happy.
I would recommend any one to go here. Peter is very considerate and honest. He lifted my 1999 jeep and had me look at the muffler with him. To make it afford from me. He fixd the existing pipe where a hanger had broken off and replace only what was necessary. They did a great job bending me a new tail pipe and welding it all together.
Excellent service!! I brought in our 67 Mustang for exhaust repairs. They promptly put it on the lift, checked it out, along with myself and gave options on what to do, along with a quick and HONEST estimate!!!!. I had a set of custom mufflers, and they had no issues installing them, along with fixing some hangers and other small details. I was there when they opened on a Saturday morning, and was done in just over an hour from estimate to pulling the car out of the bay!!!

I don't post reviews unless a place "EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS" or is VERY BAD. Yankee Discount Muffler is Excellent. I could not be happier with the professionalism, expertise, quality and value. They promptly raised my Lexus in the air and pointed out the problems with my central exhaust system and my options at different price points. We mutually agreed what should be done, wrote it up, fixed it, and I was on my way within less than 1 hour. I highly recommend.
Yankee muffler is the best in town with everything regarding a car that needs work on your car. The prices are fantastic! They work with the community. Big surprise. Called for an estimate on an old Volvo ('92 940T) and they offered: 'Come in any time and we'll look it over together'. The following morning, drove in and they had it up on the lift in less than 5 minutes. The quote was together faster than that and their price beat any other quote. Other shops left me with 'Can't find the parts' or 'Will need to track down a supplier' or no return call at all. His offer: 'I can do it right now for you.' If I didn't have to get back to work, it would have been a short wait. They had all parts and hangers on hand ...for a '92 Volvo? ... !!, bent the pipes to customize and stifle vibration, and called back to say it 'your car is ready' in less than 2 hrs. When it was time to settle up, the price hadn't changed. They even shined up the tailpipe cover I opted to keep. The whole experience knocked me down. A real fine example of great service. Will refer all to this shop every time.
Absolutely the best for all your exhaust and muffler needs. They can handle any exhaust issue efficiently right on the spot and without an appointment. I've taken many cars there, my own as well as friends and family over the years. I've even made trips down from Willington when I used to live there. They consistently come in significantly under dealers or other shops without compromising quality of labor. Metal sure might be cheaper than OEM but I think the price drop is much more significant than any drop in quality of material.
To comment on Shawn H's review, their labor rate to me is irrelevant. The owner tends to give you a nice, reasonable, round and competitive price. If there is a problem they will let you know and recommend the fix. They are transparent about what they can and can't do. They offer a variety of services but its primarily a muffler shop, not a full service shop. Its not uncommon to want to fix one thing on a vehicle but have multiple things to be handled. I wouldn't negatively rate a muffler shop for recommending a service but being unable to fix an engine miss fire. There are many dealers even, unequipped to do the work Yankee can perform on exhausts and they certainly recommend many other services tangential to what I may have originally wanted to handle. I don't fault them for it, I think its good to know what may be a problem and have the opportunity to choose to fix it.
I needed to fix the exhaust on my Ford Escape. All it needed was to be seal with a gasket and fix the bolt. A different garage wanted to charge $136. I went Yankee Discount Muffler and without telling the price quote at the other shop was charging. They took car on the lift, inspected the exhaust and said $65. The owner said that he understand that people work hard for their money and he does not to ripped people off.
