Found a good piece of pipe for a breaker bar in just a few minutes. There is lots of scrap here that can be out to reuse and it's relatively well sorted for this kind of operation. Friendly staff.
We have taken scrap to Recla Metals many times and it has always been a convenient and easy process and they have a friendly staff. It wasn’t until we had a barn fire on July 11th 2025 that we noticed how great they really are. They provided a scrap dumpster free of charge, picked it up a total of 3 times and paid us for the scrap. As stressful as the fire situation was and the entire process of cleaning up and such, their service provided a sense of relief. Thank you for the great service!!!
Bought a couple times from this place. Customer service is crap. Woman on the phone assumed something was in stock, didn't check. Was short and didn't want to answer questions. In person same thing. I don't ever review stuff, but she irritated me enough to take the 2 minutes to write this.
Got to be the must unprofessional place's on the western slope when it comes to hours. Always call to make shure they are open. Thought ide learn my lesson by now.
I've used this place twice...a little miscommunication on my 2nd time, but they got me all sorted out!? The workers r nice, I'd recommend & use em again.
I'm a long time user of this handy and very useful business in Montrose. Instead of paying to recycle you get paid! on almost any metal 'trash' and you can buy!
First impression was not good at all. Called both Durango and Montrose locations looking for very standard aluminum material. They didn’t have what I needed, and I’d have been willing to compromise a little if they had been in the least bit helpful, but no. I was in a crunch and if they could have done the very simple thing I was asking, they’d have gained a customer. One star for poor stock supply and a bonus star for lousy customer service.
I ordered steel from the clifton facilty, owner I was told is in Montrose, I was quoted a price in writing, when I arrived after a 4 hour round trip to pick up the metal a price increase from $ 943 to $1012 was my option . I was told the product I ordered was there the previous day-- ready for pickup, no mention of wrong product or price increase. The employees at clifton said they called the owner in Montrose, I was told he would not honor the quote, they said dont take it or pay the increase. I dont often write reviews, 1 last year, hoping no one else has to deal with recla. I did take the metal, no other choice, day off work 4 hour round trip. To bad the owner throws the local employees under the bus-- there are other options. To bad there is not a 0 star rating.
This is an awesome Operation. They pay you for your scrap. Plus they have a complete by inventory of metal for a variety of applications, such as: construction, fabrication, hobby, roofing and siding. Also a sheer shop, plasma table, laser cutting table, water jet table, industrial bending machines etc. Trulia One stop shop.
Hours listed are not accurate and staff is unfriendly. As an added bonus, their trash totally ruins the view of the river from the park. Welcome to Riverbottom Park, hope you enjoy the wall of old cars along the river.
Boss did not give fair value at all for clean metal. Gave 1/3 going rate. Some employees are nice but owners are apparently CHEATERS. Go to Grand Junction next time. Worth the gas cost vs the payout.
Good selection of steel at somewhat reasonable prices. Customer service is pretty poor. I'm treated like a moron for not knowing how long their sticks are of each material and every transaction is a chore. I wish I had a better alternative.
Rude borderline downright disrespectful folks in the office, the yard folks are hit and miss...some helpful and kind, some useless.
Classic case of being the only game in town and not focusing on what makes a business viable, the customer and the customer experience. Apathy is no way to go through life and certainly NOT the way to run a business. Giving it 2 stars over 1 as I've had a few decent experiences with the staff in the yard and it's better than driving to GJ to purchase supplies....barely.
No receipt and after offloading told me steel scrap was only $7 a ton. Wouldn’t recommend them to my enemies. Been scraping for 15+ yrs and the tweekers in Phoenix were more honest than these guys are in Durango.
Been there 100s of times never till now did I have a problem they wouldn't take a truck over a box of clothes I'll not go back there again after the way I was treated
I have always had a great experience with these guys. Staff is, in general, very helpful and nice. I have scrapped quite a bit with them in the past years and have always been treated well.
I went there within their established hours (it is literally posted in welded metal on their gate that they are open between 9&12 on Saturday), but they changed their hours and haven’t bothered advertising it. That is just lazy business!
People with an attitude. I went in and the lady was upset for some reason. She needs another job. Went last wednesday and the guy paid my money to some one else. I didnt get a receipt on anything. Funny thing is both loads of scrap was 9 dollars. I dont trust these people. Go to junction to scrap out. Oh well. Went there again. Took a alluminum 6 ft ladder. .35 cents for it. Couldnt get help. Left the ticket and walked out.
