Bob and his team are so solid. My boyfriend and I recently purchased our dream truck, a lifted Tacoma, with minimal knowledge of off-roading and modified suspensions. We bought the truck used and were looking for a local place to inspect the truck and make sure that the lift was installed correctly, wheels were aligned, etc.
We found 4X4 Off Road based on their good reviews, and I'm so glad that we did! These guys did a phenomenal job not only of inspecting the truck and giving us an honest summary of its condition, but of explaining and walking us through the best solutions. Bob was super patient and thorough answering our many questions, and his team quickly and very effectively improved the truck's alignment, resulting in an immediately way smoother and more comfortable ride. He also gave us suggestions on ways we could improve the ride even more, but he was never pushy about upselling or doing additional work - he simply told us what he thought would be a suitable solution and let us decide on how to proceed, always giving us all the options and giving us the freedom to do our own research. He even took the time to go over some off-roading basics, how to safely jack a lifted truck, and more. Lastly, Bob communicated with us every step of the way and was very transparent on pricing, again giving us all options and letting us choose with no pressure.
Sometimes you find a place and you just know the people working there love what they do with a passion. 4X4 Off Road is that place, and we will absolutely be going back for future work!
We came to the Ft Collins area to do some Jeeping and ended up having some problems with our Jeep. Tyler and Bob bent over backwards to help us get back on the trails. We are just very grateful for them.
Bob and Tyler are amazing four-wheel-drive techs. I have been using them for years. The quality of the work is impeccable. I have never once had an issue with anything that they have done and they go above and beyond they communicate what needs to be done and have fair and upfront pricing I could not recommend this shop enough.

Took my 94 ford bronco in for several mechanical and minor electrical work. I was really impressed with the knowledge Tyler , Bob , and the entire staff have regarding off road driving and vehicles. They were very thorough and explained everything to me and my options to repair what ever I wanted to be done.?No pressure or extra add ons from these guys!

Tyler was awesome with fixing up my older Jeep CJ7! It needed a lot of maintenance to keep it running great. Tyler is trustworthy and honest about his work which is a huge plus in today's world!
These guys are amazing, they work on anything and everything from new Jeeps and Broncos dating back to some Jeeps and Internationals that might be classified as dinosaurs by today's standards. They are all very knowledgeable and willing to take on difficult, fun projects.
I have brought a few vehicles here, one of which is a rust and rubber covered project car that they did an extremely thorough inspection of, the other had a clunk in the front suspension that nobody could seem to figure out. They diagnosed it and fixed the issue and had me out in a couple of days.
Bob and Tyler really know their stuff and their guys are hard workers considering how quick they can turn around projects. Noah has to be the nicest guy answering phones in the wrenching business. They are all willing to talk through things with you and give a very fair honest quote.

Got estimates from other local shops for a suspension lift and shock replacement for my 2006 4Runner. Only 4x4 Off-road did an honest evaluation without trying to add on extra work/costs. End result was great and I will definitely bring my vehicles to them again. Bob was also wonderful to work with.
Wow!!! I was taking my wrangler to Denver to a mechanic I trusted but no more. I found a jewel in Fort Collins with 4x4 off-road. The diagnostic review they send with pictures and videos is beautiful. Then the pricing. Holy cow. Just like my friend in Denver their prices are reasonable and don’t break the bank. I will trust Bob with all my mechanical needs and will let all my friends know where to go when they need an honest and reliable mechanic. Did I also say he’s a very nice guy. Thank you Bob!
The only shop in Fort Collins I trust. Bob and I chatted Jeeps for a long time after they installed some parts on mine. Good honest people running this shop. I have no hesitation ever having them work on my most beloved possession, my adventure vehicle.

I had my 2006 TJ brought in with no crank, no start. The initial call I had with them took a few minutes so we could talk about everything I tried with the car so they knew exactly where to start. The same day I brought it in they had identified the problem and gave me a call. We spoke for a little longer to go over the recent history of the vehicle. By the next morning they found a tiny wire shorting one of the circuits in the car. I never would have been able to find it on my own. They also did a complete inspection of the vehicle with pictures, statuses, and recommendations. They're really booked right now and for good reason. Highly recommended.
Great guys at 4x4 off road! Friendly, experienced, and flexible. They were easy to work with even when I came with some requests for my 4Runner that no other shop was willing to take on. I definitely recommend this shop!
These guys really know Jeeps. Helped me with a couple small repairs and did a very thorough inspection on the whole vehicle for a great price. I will definitely be using them for anything Jeep or off road in the future. Highly recommended!
As a mechanic by trade it’s not often I look for a shop, but recently I needed an alignment on a Jeep Rubicon after installing a suspension lift. I talked to over a dozen shop owners. The guys at 4x4 Off Road were the only ones who could answer some of my questions and issues. And after seeing there work I was glad I made the drive up North to use them.
These guys know four wheel drive vehicles, modified or not. Plus, they are very honest and fair. I never feel like I’m being pressured into a fix or that an issue is being “blown up” in order to get me to spend money. They always back up all of their information/diagnosis with photos, knowledge, and clear explanations. I trust them with both my modified Jeep and my 4x4 Ford with 200,000 miles on it. I would recommend them to anyone seeking a good 4x4 mechanic.
Hands-down the best car maintenance experience I have in Fort Collins, if not Colorado. I had zero reservations about the work they suggested for my car, and they even provide a detailed digital inspection rounded out with photos of the problem areas. Bob and Justin were incredibly nice and very informative, since I know little about cars. I highly recommend 4X4 Off Road for your vehicles! Ps. My car isn't some fancy 4X4 vehicle, and they did a fabulous job!
I bought an old GMC truck and a motor here and a diff there, but I needed a tranny. I heard good things about these guys so I took a ride up there and bought an old school 4L60 (no E). Reasonable price and a warranty. That thing worked like a charm. Next project, these are the guys I will see.

I've had work done here on my 93 YJ and these guys have proven to be honest, reliable and reasonable with their prices. I have seen nothing but integrity displayed in their service shop and with the few parts purchases I have made or inquired about. I had a transmission repair that could have ended up in a total rebuild but after going through the tranny they called and said it only needed some gaskets and adjusting. The job ended up being many hundreds of dollars less than I expected. They did what they said they would do, investigate and then give me an educated estimate of the work needed and the cost. Will continue to have work done here. (same review I posted on YELP)
Bob did a great job refitting the suspension on my TJ. I switched to 4x4 used parts for service last year, after trying most of the options in Loveland and FC. I hope to get service this good for years in the future.
As long as I live in Northern Colorado, I'm sticking with this crew. They are honest, never up-sell people on anything, they help me plan for future maintenance needs which allows me to start stashing away money for something I'll need to take care of a year from now, and they are experts on far more technical jobs than I'll ever need. If they can handle taking care of the entire fleet of off-road vehicles for the Rocky Mtn Jeep Club, I think they can hit it out of the park on my Subaru and Nissan Pathfinder!
