Employees were so nice and welcoming! Very helpful when it came to an inspection on a vehicle I have recently purchased. Honestly was so refreshing to be treated well and like a valued customer!

I went to nine different mechanics because my car kept dying even after replacing the alternator and the battery and none of them could figure it out. Took it to rob and he figured out the problem in. Experience over being cheep and trying to save money by doing to a cheeper mechanic any day.

We had a universal joint that was clicking/squeaking on our truck that we wanted replaced before going out of town. I was referred to Rob's Automotive by a friend & co-worker of my Wife whose been a customer of Rob's for years. I stopped by the shop on a Thursday afternoon, told him I was going out of town soon and would like to get it fixed before I left. Rob took a look, gave me an estimate of cost (which was very reasonable) and was able to get me in and replace the bad joint the next day. No more clicking /squeaking! We recommend & will be going back to Rob's Automotive in future.

Rob took great care of my vehicle. He talked me through everything I needed to do and let me make the decisions. I didn't feel pressured at all but rather I felt he had my best interest in mind.

Went in for a repair to pass a smog test, and wanted to roll the dice on just replacing the plugs and air filter. He suggested I might want to adjust the valves as well, but I insisted on the cheap route (it's a 25-year-old car). He didn't try to hard sell the valves and was completely agreeable to trying my idea, which he agreed might well do the trick by itself. Sure enough, replacing the plugs and filter were enough to pass the re-check. To his credit, the car still runs just a tad rough, so I have every reason to believe that adjusting the valves was a good recommendation. And again to his credit, he accommodated a cheap guy with his cheap idea about fixing his old, cheap car. On top of which, he did the work quickly and is a nice, polite guy. His hourly rate is reasonable (relatively speaking, that is), and the work was finished when he said it would be. True, this is only a single experience, but it was a good one. I'll be seeing him again if the need arises while I'm still living in SD, for sure.

Rob got Big Bertha in to tip top shape! This is an old 7.3 IDI diesel motor so it was hard to find folks that would work on it that knew what they were talking about! Rob and his mechanics proved there work; showing me what they fixed and delivering results. They also had good recommendations in terms of other components they found that needed repaired or replaced and gave me an estimate on said repairs. Rob has also repaired my mini cooper, Ford Fusion, GMC Yukon, and my friend's Ford Ranger. On top of everything, all the work Rob did on a couple of my vehicles was reported to CarFax so selling was easier with proven mechanic work. Update: Vacuum pump went out on Big Bertha. Rob replaced the pump, belts, and did and oil change. Truck runs better than it ever has, and Rob got the pump replaced same day. Yet another good experience.

Super professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. I needed to get an overall diagnosis of my car's condition before taking it for a smog check. Rob was very precise and gave me a very detailed report as well as a referral for a great smog check place. So happy to have found a great mechanic close by!

If you need an honest mechanic who does outstanding work look no further. He will fix your car for a fair price. For the minimum of what it takes to get you up and running again. He won't talk you into expensive repairs you don't need. Like the dealer. Stay away from the dealership and go to Rob's Automotive. There is no way I could say enough about this outstanding place. I was referred by a friend. They were right. This place is great.

I took an 8 hour drive to San Diego to help a friend move, and half way there my check engine light came on in my '06 Impreza. After making it into town, I called a few different places, during which I talked to Rob on the phone. He was professional, friendly, and had time the next morning to take a look. I had talked to my hometown mechanic who gave me some info to relay about what was probably wrong. Rob checked my vehicle and agreed with my regular service provider. He started right up on it, and a couple hours later I payed a fair price for good work. Two weeks later and everything is still running smooth. Rob was extremely helpful with my infiniti. He called around looking for the best price on parts in San Diego, explained to me what I needed now and what I could wait on, and even gave me a loaner car as I was waiting for my car to be finished. Rob has the best repair shop in La Mesa!
