Initially Andy was great, good communication and worked quickly. Once the roll-out was dropped off and picked up in a timely manner, everything else goes south from here. No communication for 2 weeks and 5 days. I had to call to get an update. Andy says they have been busy and haven't weighed my metal yet and will try and weigh it. An hour later, he gave me the weight 10K lbs. Great, that's 5 ton right? Wrong. They use British/Imperial measurements (2240lbs = 1ton).
Just so you know that, I believe this is the industry standard for recycling places, they are using imperial ton (2240 lbs = 1 ton) NOT U.S. ton (2000 lbs = 1ton).
Then I get my G/T rate lowered from what was quoted at $150, down to $130. I'm working with Andy to at least honor the $150.
Be careful with Andy and his team. Maybe use Mauricio or a different company. I got another quote from McCoy and they started at $160 G/T. I will not be using IE Scrap Metal Recycling ever again! I'll update this review, if they honor the $150 or better.
Apparently they are being sued for knowingly and with intent to defraud, devising, participating in, and executing a scheme to defraud their scrap metal recycling customers by paying customers on fraudulent weights aka shorting weight; Creating fraudulent certified weight tickets for their customers that reflected a lower weight of scrap metal than what was actually received from the customer. We got a letter in the mail and they owe us a few thousand dollars. They also used interstate wire communications (a wire transfer from California to Georgia) to execute this scheme, which constitutes wire fraud.The document also includes a forfeiture allegation, meaning that if convicted, they would be required to forfeit any property obtained as a result of this offense. SO BEWARE!!!
