Not a good place to get a battery. I came in to get a new battery. I wanted a regular flooded lear acid battery as the agm batteries are expensive. There's no need for a agm battery, there's no start stop or high electrical drain requirement and the charging system is the same basic design. The young girl insisted she look up the battery part number and she only would sell an agm. I don't need someone that has a birth year starting with a 2 that has no understanding of auto maintenance or basic understanding of auto engineering unwilling to look up the part number and sell me a fla battery equivalent.
I took my battery off the counter and went to Napa down the street. I did my research in the parking lot. Went in, bought a correct size and cca spec battery, took my trade in seconds later.
And guess what young child that works at O'Reilly's? It works just fine. We've been using lead acid batteries for close to a hundred years and modern cars charging systems are pretty much the same, again if you don't have start stop or other high electrical drain technology in your car.
Perhaps work on your customer is always right skills, because I am, that that was poor customer service.
Every time I shop at this store, I am so impressed with their friendly, helpful service and this past weekend was no exception. I arrived with an alert on my EV that I shouldn't drive without checking and adding a certain coolant with distilled water. I read the owner's manual and the instructions were complicated but Scott did it all for me with a funnel, cup, etc. Saved the day for me--ten stars!
Service above and beyond what is expected of any auto parts store, even going so far as to lend me a jumper battery for my car not once but twice, taking it off their store grounds just solely on trust. Amazing experience with them.
Our family has been shopping here for years and the staff has always been knowledgeable and courteous and the prices have been reasonable. However, in my last visit, one of the staff, Jose, really stood out to me when I asked for new headlight bulbs for our vehicle. He knew the history of the products and laid out the options super clearly. Then, to top it off, he offered to install them no charge! I know they have done that for windshield wipers but I'm not sure they always do that for headlight bulbs. Much appreciated!
i love this place so much. the workers and phenomenal and if you ever have any issues carson is literally the best and knows so much about cars. i was having a complete breakdown because i thought my car was toast and he helped me get it back up and running. 100% go to them.
My car battery died in parking lot and Roy was incredibly helpful. It was about to be close but despite that he made sure to help us anyways. He was super attentive to us and made sure our car was safe to drive. I have never been happier with the service. He went above and beyond. I will definitely be visiting O'Reilly for all my car needs.
I was overcharged at the register here. The staff are typically fun and funny, but make sure that items you purchase here are scanning for the same price that it says on the shelf.
We drove my Mazda3 sedan from Reno to Davis, and then the car was struggling to start, or it sounded like the battery wasn't working well. We made it to O'Reilly Davis and Zachary was extremely helpful. He took the time to test our battery, and confirm it was dying. He carefully explained the issue, and installed a new battery with no added labor cost. He also pointed us in the right direction to put needed air in our tires. Great experience, that saved our road trip. Thank you, Zach!
They always have had what I needed. The friendly staff answers questions and offers to help out if you’re struggling with something like unscrewing at tight cap to change a bulb or install a body clip. You can get cheaper prices online, but the service here is worth it. Parking is always available. This is my go-to place for auto parts in Davis.
Absolutely amazing service. Had a MIL come on while driving, and pulled into this shop a few hours later. They read the error code (cylinder misfiring), and sold us new spark plugs. After swapping the plugs out, nothing changed, and it turned out it was the coil that had failed. By now, it was around 8/9 PM, but employee helping us stayed behind to get us the part.
All around great service—knew technical info and very polite and understanding.
I had to drive my daughter’s car and it was unfortunately raining. More unfortunately, her wipers were nearly scraping. The service was quick and efficient. They even walked outside in the rain to see if I wanted any help getting the new wipers installed.
Every time I have visited here I have received excellent service. It still amazes me that the O'Reilly guys always help install batteries, headlamps, wipers, etc no charge. They'll check your engine too, spark plugs, etc.
Took my daughter's Honda to dealership day before for oil change and asked them to check battery. They said it was fine and literally died this morning. John was amazing, honest and had a new battery installed in ten minutes. Love this place!!
Excellent service. The employees and staff are very kind and helpful. They are available to answer questions and help. Some of their items come with a warranty. They have a wide variety of batteries. I think they also carry snow chains.
This place is a dream! I've a some minor issues with my car in the past, and I'm really happy I came here instead of a repair shop. Someone always offers to come out to the parking lot, look at my car, and help diagnose the problem with no added cost.
Recently my rear turn signal stopped working. I looked on youtube forever/tried to fix the problem on my own, and I couldn't figure it out. And, I couldn't get an appointment with a repair shop for at least a few days. This guy at o'reilly had a it fixed in 3 minutes! I just had to pay for the parts which were inexpensive. They've also replaced my battery with no extra cost for labor.
I had to return some items I had purchased at another O’Reilly store out of the area. Unfortunately, I did not have the receipt. In addition, the other store hadn’t put it under my number. The South Davis crew worked until we were able to find the purchase, after which I received a full refund. I really appreciated their patience and hard work.
Consistently good advice even if they are a little hesitant to chat about your car. I'm particularly impressed with their free OBD code reading service. Mechanics have been fleecing us for years charging $80-100 just to read the code, so it's about time someone honest used it to help the customer figure out what they need rather than charge them and then shrug their shoulders when a weird code comes up.
This O’Reilly has always help me so much with my needs when it come to automotives. The staff are all super nice and kind and help you get the parts that you need. They all have super nice cars and the manager has some sweet rides. Even if they do not have the part in stock, they’ll get it in pretty quick so you can get your vehicle back and running perfectly again. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who has car problems.
By far the best Auto Parts store I've dealt with. I went in to change battery and alternator and Francisco was super helpful. Tested battery, let me use tools to change out the alternator, and helped me out a little. They treated everyone who went in there with 5 star service. 👍👍
I had a really great experience with this store. The employees were all very friendly and helpful, even on the phone they were super nice. I came to buy snow chains for my car on the way to Tahoe and it was very fast service. Took less than 10 minutes.
Great experience. I needed a front light bulb replaced on a car that needed a cover popped and the bulb was still very difficult to reach. I had asked in an auto parts shop in Sacramento if they could do it for me and they said no, but O.Reilly's in Davis took the time to do it f, even though it was a busy day for them. It took almost half an hour, during which time he had to go back in a few times and help some customers, but he got it done, and my light is working again.Thank you very much, great service!
