I have had a bad experience with Davis recology. Recently our trash can was skipped twice in a row for two weeks with no notice outside to let us know the reason why our trash can was skipped. They must assume residents somehow are supposed to know the reasons. As a future reference please leave notices for residents as to why you're skipping trash cans. It's very frustrating especially when your trash is very full. I called a few days ago the Davis recology and was told my trash cans were not 3ft away from our car and we're not able to pick it up. I understand that and was charged $48 for the service of which the woman told me they would pick up our trash can on Monday from 6AM to 12PM, well we waited and we never got our trash can emptied and was robbed of $48. Davis recology needs to be held accountable for this bad service and I paid you guys $48 dollars and never got our trash can emptied. Their needs to be better supervision on the garbage men. Please have your supervisor check the work of those under him. You guys lack serious accountability.

The drop-off process is straightforward, signage is easy to follow, and staff interactions are professional without being intrusive. Materials are sorted logically, and the overall flow minimizes wait time. It feels like a well-managed facility that prioritizes both functionality and customer convenience.
They canceled a check after I sold my recycling and now I'm negative the amount the check was in my bank account. I give better rating if the fix the problem.
On May 15, 2025, my recycling cart was not picked up again. When I called to inquire, I was told that the pickup was skipped because the lid of the cart was not fully closed.
However, the reason the lid couldn't close was due to the volume of cardboard inside the cart. I did not receive any notice or message explaining that this was the reason for the missed pickup, nor was I aware that a slightly open lid would result in a refusal to collect.
I’d appreciate clarification on this policy and guidance on how to avoid this issue in the future. It would also be helpful if drivers could leave a notice when a cart is skipped so customers understand the reason.

For the first time in 10 years, my garbage can was left out after the scheduled collection. I called customer service, and they claimed that their new system showed my garbage had been picked up. I explained that it had not been. I placed my garbage can out at 7 PM the evening before pickup day, as always.
The following day, there was a storm with heavy rain. It’s understandable that the driver might have missed a can or two, especially since the alley is too narrow for the garbage truck, and we typically push our cans to the main street for pickup. With over 300 cans on the street, many of which were not labeled with house numbers, I’m curious how their system could confirm my can had been emptied.
Despite this, customer service insisted the new system was infallible and said I would have to pay extra fees for another pickup. They even suggested I might have placed my can in the wrong spot. When I offered to send them pictures as proof, they refused to accept them and instead continued to place the blame on me.
This lack of accountability is unacceptable!
I have come here many times to recycle bottles, cans and glass jars. Although the process is simple the first time it is confusing and no one explains to you what you are supposed to do. Apart from that it is relatively quick and the place is well maintained but dirty.

It's neat and organized. Wish they give cash instead of check no one will cash in Davis. I have to drive to woodland to cash $12 check. I spend my time and gas all for $10 .
I really did enjoy getting my recycling taking care of by the Forman and the other weighmaster. They were also good on keeping my recycling counts on their system and gave me the right number on the check based on how much I had. And they are pretty fast paced in their duties.

Our full composting bin was not picked up yesterday, the scheduled day. When attempting to contact Recology Davis, today, Saturday, the contact phone number would not allow messages and there was no other method of contacting them to ask what the problem was. Very dissatisfied with customer service in this case.
I have had pretty good experiences with them other than one time and I think it was that one particular employee I was dealing with. Other than that everyone is always very nice and professional.
