They lost or STOLE my registration for my truck. It was towed here after an accident and the rude lady at the front desk never gave it back to me. It had my tags on it.
Today, I experienced an unsettling issue with my car's tire pressure, which was indicated by a warning sign on my dashboard. As a loyal AAA member for over 15 years, my immediate response was to call for assistance. Over the years, I've consistently had commendable experiences with AAA's services, which makes today's situation particularly disheartening and noteworthy.
Upon reporting my issue, AAA delegated my case to Preferred Towing. Regrettably, the technician dispatched from this company was not up to the standard I've come to expect. He was curt and dismissive, asserting that there was no visible issue with the tire. Alarmingly, he did not undertake a thorough inspection of all four tires or check for any punctures that could be causing the low pressure. Instead, he arbitrarily chose a tire to inflate, neglecting to measure its air pressure. Later, I was dismayed to discover that he had inflated this tire to a dangerous 58 psi, while the other three tires remained at a standard 30 psi. This negligence could have put my safety, and the safety of others, at serious risk.
I'm sharing this experience both as feedback to AAA and as a cautionary note to others in the community. It's crucial to remain informed and vigilant about the services we rely upon.
Honestly 0 stars, peob will sue them for property damage. They towed my car from the parking lot and they dropped my catalyzer very low, wouldnt do business wit them at all. I understand they towed my car do to plates but they messed up my car, very unprofessional, they WILL DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE!
Requested roadside assistance at 8:38pm pst, its been almost 2 hours and the local tow company, Preferred Towing, still has not shown up. Anytime I call to request an update, someone did something and they apologize and delay it another 30 mins. This company’s incompetent at their job. I have not been assisted at the time of writing this. I’ve contacted AAA and they told me Preferred Towing decided to drop the call and not service it. Describing them as “Incompetent” is probably too kind.
I wish I remembered the drivers name, but he arrived very quickly after calling AAA today and quickly put my spare on (5/15 San Clemente @3:30). He was very helpful and kind - Amazing customer service! What could have been a major ordeal, was only a minor set back and Just wanted to say Thank you, Thank you!!!

Got a flat tire and scheduled roadside assistance through AAA's website. I was quoted an ETA of 6:15pm by AAA and a short time later received a phone call from Preferred Towing confirming that ETA and stating their driver was on their way. At 6:30pm I called Preferred for an update and was told the driver was finishing up with another customer and it would be another "15 to 20 minutes". Just after 7pm I still hadn't heard anything, called Preferred and was again told the driver was finishing up another job and would be there in "15 to 20 minutes". In the meantime my husband was able to find me and change out the spare in less than a half hour. We left. Finally received a call just after 8pm stating Preferred had arrived.
I understand roadside assistance can be difficult and can take a while, but to quote me one hour and show up and almost 3 hours later without so much as a phone call to update me in between is just unprofessional. AAA and Preferred Towing let me down.
I recently witnessed a Jeep on the ortega hwy. Both tires on the passenger side blew out. I made a call . The female dispatch was so kind and helpful. Franky the owner of the Jeep was helped out from hwy patrol. Thank you preferred towing for the advice. Thank you hwy patrol for helping Franky and his bulldog so they could feel safe off the ortega hwy. God bless
Wow! Wow! Wow! I never thought in a million years that a towing company would hold my top spot for customer service excellence!!! What could have been an absolute nightmare turned out to be just something that happened and was dealt with, because of the level of integrity Preferred brought to the situation. I highly recommend Preferred Towing, they have raised the bar for standards in the towing industry!!
My car was towed to their lot. I went the following day and paid the fees to release the car. They walk me to the car (which was left overnight with the window open), and I get in to start it (keyless). No key fob detected.
They said, "Oh the key fob should be in the car." After searching around, it certainly was not in the car. I stood around for an hour and a half while they called a few drivers, trying to figure out who towed the car and where the fob was. As it was Friday, I said I could come back Monday if they needed, as I had another car. They said since I already paid the fees to release the car, it could not stay there. Okay, well I would love to take it but you don't have the key.
Continue to call around, nobody knows where the key is. Even their signed paperwork said the key was in the cup holder, which it clearly was not (maybe someone took it when the window was down?). They take no responsibility for the lost key, saying oh we can drag it out to the other lot so you can come back later with your other key. Thus expecting me to leave the car for another day, unlocked with the window down and be out of a key fob.
As they were closing and I would have no access to the lot (and apparently couldn't even store it there anyways as I already paid the release fees), I told them that my spare key is at my office 30 miles away if we could just tow the car there until we figure out the key situation. So we load it on the truck having to literally drag it onto the truck because you can't put the car in neutral or release the parking brake without the key (to which I said you obviously had the key when unloading as it would be impossible to get the car off the truck in park).
Loaded on the truck and I ask, okay so now what do we do about the key. The office attendant just shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know, this hasn't happened before." I ask if anything be done regarding the tow price due to the lost key. Nope, we can't do anything.
So in addition to the initial fees, I had to pay a $375 tow and have to purchase a $300 key fob to replace the one they lost. Based on my experience, I would not suggest doing business with this company.
Our SUV wouldn't start and when we called AAA they dispatched Spencer with Preferred Roadside Assistance to help. Spencer came in about 15 minutes and got our SUV going in about 5 minutes. Great job Spencer and AAA. Thanks
My car got towed and some gay guy in the front wouldnt let me take my stuff out because there wasnt anybody to watch the counter,like cmon it was only gonna take a few minutes but whatever these people suck!!!
