My son was on his way to Mammoth and had unrepairable flat. Nate was a great help communicating with me out of hours to order a new matching tire and get him back on the road. He really cared about taking care of my son and that meant a lot. Highly recommend Bishop Auto.

Go here first. Honest, quick and reasonable. Fixed my RV tire and had me back on the road, even though they were very busy with bigger repair jobs.

Nate and Brad truly saved our holiday and restored our faith in humanity. We are visiting from the UK, driving through the USA, and our rental car broke down just outside Death Valley on our way to Vegas. After an overnight stay in Lone Pine, the replacement car we received had an oil leak, leaving us stranded for a second day. Alamo were unhelpful, and by 3 PM it was clear the third car wouldn’t arrive, our holiday was falling apart, and we had already missed our first night in Vegas. Nate stepped in, arranged a tow to Vegas, and allowed us to ride along with the car. This morning, Brad showed up and drove us and the car to Vegas safely. We are beyond grateful to Nate and Brad for their kindness and generosity, especially since they had no obligation to help us. Although we never met Nate in person, we will remember both him and Brad fondly and will look back on this experience and laugh…in a few weeks. Between them and the wonderful staff at the Quality Inn in Lone Pine, our faith in humanity has been fully restored. Without their help, we would have still been stranded. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I had a blowout on my trailer tire on the way to Mammoth Lakes. After putting on the spare, I stopped at Bishop Automotive Center. They replaced the tire right away and had me back on the road in no time. The service was fast, friendly and professional. The price was also very reasonable and in line with what I paid for tires in San Diego years ago. I really appreciated their great customer service and quick turnaround. I definitely recommend Bishop Automotive if you need a tire in or around Bishop, CA.

The front desk employee tirrel is so rude and has 0 customers service, but from what I heard he’s always been like that. If you don’t like dealing with people you should get another job where you don’t interact with people.

Outstanding service and help above the call, hench this 5 star review for Bishop Automotive. My wife and I and our medium sized dog ? were on a disbursed camping adventure. Our first day out from home in Mariposa, we suffered a mechanical breakdown. Stuck on the highway North of Mammoth Mountain we were unable to have any shops there help us in a timly manner. We managed to get AAA to tow us to Bishop as a result. I had spoke with the mechanic Tyrell, at Bishop Automotive who understood the issue we were having, so that's where we went. He said he thought he could squeeze us into their busy schedule since it sounded like a relatively easy fix. Upon arrival I knew the part may take a few days to get if it was even available. I made arrangements to stay in a motel about 3 miles away. There are very limited ride services available in Bishop. At the end of the day, we arrived at the shop and were treated kindly, professionally and respectfully. Parts were unavailable but we had figured out a way to bypass the issue with some adaptions that got us back on the road the very next morning. We were able to finish our vacation and return home absolutely trouble free. Tyrell asked me if we had found a ride yet. I said I tried every thing I could and nothing was available. My wife was a little bit past the verge of tears ? because it was too far at our age to walk with our dog in tow. Not to mention being very upset with the tow truck ride from hell there, by AAA contract company Performance Towing out of Mammoth Lakes. ? Tyrell stepped up and offered the three of us a ride, on the opposite end of town from his after-work destination. What a life saver that evening he was for us. The whole crew at Bishop Automotive was great, they were reasonably priced and saved our vacation which included non refundable pre payments. Thank all of you, for every step along the way, from the receptionist who took our call for help, the owner, and the mechanics and especially Tyrell.

We have a lance 650 on our Ram ~ They do oil changes on their outdoor high level lift for: Truck campers, vans, and RVs! We drove up this morning with no appointment ~ enjoyed their fast WiFi, air conditioned waiting room, Keurig coffees & fresh honey sticks to add ~ lovely touch! Wonderful GM and mechanics. Will definitely return. ?

Helped me out! Was stranded in independence with no one with a tire. Found me a used tire to help me get home<3 the help of a small town makes me feel like family. Thank you so much!

We had emergency and needed tires for trip back to CT. Came to the shop 8am truck was ready with in 1.5hrs. Great place and help. Thank you.

Asked for my tire to be patched, the hole was too close to the sidewall to patch, so instead of telling me that before any work was done, I was charged $40 to put a $2 plug in that I could've done myself, and filled my tire up 20 psi OVER the recommended, won't be back here for anything, absolute scam, and a joke of a mechanic shop

These guys got through my oil change quick & easy and alerted me to my need for new tires. I hadn’t realized the tread was so worn down but they showed me specifically where the tires presented a risk for driving. I appreciated that it sincerely felt like this automotive shop wasn’t trying to just sell me something, they were also letting me know something important about my personal safety. I plan to get the new tires there but am still arranging safe transit back to Bishop. Added, 2/3/25: I couldn’t figure out how to post an additional review, but these guys would totally get another 5 star review. After following their advice and driving safe as I could manage back to Bishop (don’t even Attempt getting your car worked on in Tonopah, fyi), they had all four tires on within about an hour for less than the quoted price, and with a surprise $50 Firestone gift card to boot. I’ll happily continue making the trip to Bishop for any and all needs that arise with my vehicle. These dudes are legit.

We had outstanding service from Nate, Tyrell and Orion. While on a road trip our Campervan needed the tires balanced and we drove down from Mammoth because of the positive Google reviews and and it was worth it. These guys are very professional and offer top-notch service!

My daughter was alone on a long road trip and needed a new tire in Bishop as she had a blowout in Mojave and limped up to Bishop on her donut spare in the middle of the night. Called Tyrell first thing in the morning. He confirmed they had the size and would take care of my daughter as soon as she could make it in. She hurried over and was taken care of right away and send on to complete her trip. Appreciate the fast and friendly service.

I had this shop replace a flat/blown tire years ago. The experience was ordinary. A few days ago my vehicle engine was overheating on my way home to the Bay area due to a severe coolant leakage. I walked into this shop across street from O'Reiley Auto Parts trying to seek help. After some waiting by me and then my briefing of my vehicle problem, the front desk person bluntly told me, before I finished briefing, without usual customer greetings: they had no time and that I should not even bring my vehicle in for them to take a look. My complaint is their bad attitude and their no concern about a customer's emergency situation.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Our camper broke down on a Sunday. There was no one available to tow, but Walter at Bishop automotive came to our rescue. He brought us cold water to drink and got our camper into town. We knew that the engine has seized and that we were not going to be able to replace the motor as it was a very old camper. The general manager, Nate was so helpful and let us store our camper there for over a week while we went back to Southern California, took our vacation and then came back to take care of the paperwork . If you ever have the misfortune of breaking down in Bishop, this is the team of people you want helping you. It’s obvious, they are honest , compassionate good people who will do what they can to help, especially Nate. Thank you to everyone at Bishop Automotive Center!

I am off on a long trip tomorrow. Today began with one tire being low. I drove to Bishop Automotive without an appointment and they were terrific. They took a look at the tire, found the nail, and fixed it. In about 5 minutes total, without a charge. Yet another reason I'm glad I got my tires here! Thanks guys, you really made my day!!

Had gone off road earlier in the day, got a rock cut in tire, irreparable. The guys at Bishop Automotive Center fit us in, gave us a great price and ended up buying 4 new tires! Installed same day. Excellent service!

Would absolutely recommend Bishop Automotive Center! After a few weeks into a big road trip, I noticed a big leak under my car and found these guys in Bishop. They immediately got me in even though they were so busy. Walter & Cam did an amazing job replacing my water pump and timing belt and I was able to get back on the road in less than week. Thanks Tyrell for squeezing me in and pushing to get everything done quick. 800 miles in and everything is still great. Thanks to Anthony who drove me to/from the hotel I had to stay at, everyone was so accommodating and the pricing was more than fair! Wish I had these guys back at home.

#1Tow Truck ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I’m very grateful and thankful to God for Brad and his amazing crew, they are truly Angels. I had a really bad experience my car got stuck during the snow storm on 2/7 at 11 pm on 6 East towards Queen Canyon Rd on the side of the road. It was a really scary experience and it was below 30 degrees. I was beyond scared and feared for my life since the semis kept sliding and black rock ice were hitting my car. I unfortunately called the wrong ppl named “Wolfpack Towing and Recovery” Ppl plz be aware and don’t make the same mistake like I did! On the phone they stated it was a certain price and when they charged my card it was way more than agreed. Second red flag they were stalling and never communicated. I was stuck on the side of the road and my life was in danger and I honestly thought I had no hope. I was there from 11 pm to 9 am the next morning. I didn’t receive no courtesy call or txt from them until I kept calling and they simply said the driver was not even at the destination he was home and wouldn’t be able to pick me up because he had to go to a funeral. Mind you they charged me close to 500 dollars and they had no compassion or empathy in letting me know they simply didn’t care. I was livid and started to worry because the snow was caving in, it was below 30 degrees and here I am in the middle of no where with half a tank and it was really cold. All the tow trucks I called were really rude and declined to drive and do their job as a tow truck. As soon as I called BISHOP CARE CENTER they were really compassionate and helpful. They said YES right away we can go get you send me the info. I was crying at this point and they treated me with respect and compassion. And the price was very reasonable compared to other ridiculous high prices. Brad came to the rescue and I was finally saved. If you want to feel heard and respected but most of all valued call Bishop Care Center. They treat you as family and they really love their profession. They’re kind and generous and keep their word when they say they got you! Thank you Bishop Care Center for everything you do. You guys are amazing and I’ll forever be thankful to you all.

This is the best, and most honest auto shop in the area. Nate and Brad saved my family and I. We were staying in Mammoth during a cold 2023 winter storm, so cold that my diesel fuel jelled up!! I could not start the vehicle! With another bigger storm inbound, and temperatures only getting colder, (single digits) we were desperate for help. Brad the tow truck driver braved the snow covered 395 up to Mammoth, and got my truck onto the flat bed. He safely drove us down to Bishop, in the dark, and off loaded my truck into the warm shop garage. Nate the shop owner kindly kicked up the heater in the garage, and was confident that the truck would start in the morning. Brad dropped me off at a motel where I spent the night. The next morning Brad picked me up on his way to the shop, and sure enough my truck was out of the garage, in the parking lot idling warming up! I was good to go! Nate and Brad are kind, salt of the earth people who love what they do. My family and I a very grateful for them.

I took my car here to have my starter replaced, and the next day my car was returned . Now when I would try and start it, it would kick hard and sometimes not even turn over. I had to take it back and they said it was a bad starter so it would have to be replaced again. So, I have to wait a couple more days. I get to pick my car up Friday, but it was returned with a check engine light. And that’s a problem because the light was NOT on when it was taken there and it’s never been on before that. So now after having my car worked on twice by bishop automotive, I decide to look under the hood myself and figure out why my light is on, and make sure the job was done correctly. Below are pictures of how my car was returned to me. Nothing tightened, a hose not reconnected, and a plug left hanging. Once I connected everything my engine light has since turned off. I don’t understand how or why they would give me my car back with a check engine light on. They obviously didn’t care. I would not recommend. Update: 6 months later and my starter stops working, solenoid wasn’t engaging , and when I pull it out and look up the part number I find that it wasn’t even a new starter they put in my car!

Yesterday we drove home from Truckee back to Costa Mesa. We love taking 395 home. North of Mammoth, our 2007 Chevrolet Suburban gave us the information that we needed to check the charging system. Battery looked low. My gut told me that our alternator was on the way out. We started looking where we could fix it and found Bishop Automotive. They answered their phones quickly and I explained the situation. I DID NOT WANT to spend the night on the road etc. They were ready for me. Checked the battery and alternator and my suspicion was right, our alternator that came with the car 14 years ago has had enough. I asked how long the repair would take in the worst case scenario and their answer was 90 minutes. The care was done in 45 and we went on our merry way!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! Cost was $432.06 I hope this helps and shout out to you people at Bishop Automotive Center. PS: I went to get food at the mobile Mexican food place and that was awesome as well. After traveling from Southern California, I broke down about 4 miles outside of Bishop. Trapped in a terrible, stressful situation on the side of the 395 and after calling many local shops, Bishop Automotive were the only ones willing to help me. They allowed me to have my Jeep towed there and were willing to take on the project and work me into an already full schedule I highly recommend Tyrell and his crew, they are honest, hard-working and tenacious. I felt I was treated as quickly as possible given the unplanned nature of my visit & problems. Thank you, Bishop Automotive

I am so pleased with the service and rates we got from Bishop Automotive. We got six new tires put on (they had the ones I wanted in stock) and then ordered new shocks for the bus (came in within 2 days). Nate and his dad Rick were extremely helpful and kind as they got us set up. Nice waiting area. I personally saw them treat their workers with respect and dignity and it showed throughout their shop. (Note: Six new tires took less than 2 hours. 4 new shocks about the same. Went next door and got a snack and waited outside in the picnic/dog area with trees and grass and enjoyed the sunshine while I watched them work.)

Awesome place. We had a blowout coming into Bishop. Searched several tire shops, No one had street tires readily availible. Bishop Automotive was able to get my like tires in 1 day and the were only $60 diff from Costco (installed). They arrived and were installed in less than 1 hour. Had us on the road back on vacation. Awesome service, excellent help, thank you. Even had a dog potty area (grass) in front of the business for our dog while waiting. Highly recommend.

All I can say is "WOW!!" We had brake issues coming down the highway from Nevada and no one else had an availability. This shop had an appointment the same day and we were able to get our brakes checked out quickly. They were very honest and told us the brakes were fine and did not need any servicing! Almost any other shop would probably try to take advantage of us and charge us for services that we didn't need. Thanks, Bishop Automotive Center and the person who helped us (sweet dad of two kids!).

I spoke to Nate on the phone and told him I was worried about the wear on a tire that had a bad axle for too long. It was worn along the outside. I have a Subaru Forester which means after 25k you need to change all 4 tires. He looked at my situation and said the tire still had miles to go. What an honest assessment. Instead of just selling me 4 new tires he said I was good to go. That honesty is so valuable. I came to this establishment first because of the good reviews. I'm happy to leave a 5 star review for the integrity of this shop. Thanks Nate!
