Joe in the scale house is a pleasant person to work with I'm an outkast driver and we help fluff out of there and he's always very helpful and courteous and nice to work with
I've been going here my whole life and would've given 5 stars until today. I will never come back again after the way I was treated today. The new crew are lazy kids that dont want to do what they get paid for.
Buckle up cuz this review has A LOT of info! Had a horrible experience here a year ago that I spoke to the yard manager about and figured don't hold a grudge and give another chance...BIG MISTAKE!!! This is the worst experience again I've ever had recycling my vehicles cat. After driving 1 hour 45 minutes round trip didn't even recycle the cat. Was told that it needs to be cut right next to the cat. Told them I just drove from Benton and didn't have a saw. After being told by the warehouse worker, shell cut it when she has time, I waited for an additional half hour and was ignored. No info on when we could get to it, no ETA, nothing. Just left to sit in the warehouse and wait. I Said if they had the saw id cut it. Ignored some more. Picked it up while calling another scrapyard to see if they take cats, picked it up and left. They could care less. Called the office to report. And she could care less. My time and yours is most definitely not valuable to these business operators. They could care less about your time or money. This was two horrible experiences and there will not be a third. Do not take your expensive recyclab
les here unless you want to be ignored and forgotten until you decide to leave.
Took a friend here so he could cash in some scrap copper. It was the type that was pure copper wire (a mix of some 00 gauge braided and 12-16 gauge solid) but had the insulation burned off and therefore was gray in color (carbon/copper oxides). It felt about like 35 lbs to me and he got $102 for it as of Sep 3, 2024. We went about 11 am and, unlike the previous times I've been there there was only one person in the drive-through and it only took him maybe 10 mins to cash in his ticket. So, the whole process took maybe 20 mins tops.
Often, however, there IS a line, especially at the ticket cashing window and you can easily spend an hour or more here. The employees are kinda hit and miss. Most of the time they're nice, respectful and cordial but on occasion they're rude, disrespectful and impatient. Those are the reasons for 4⭐ instead of 5. Like another reviewer said I think some of them assume people coming here are thieves or just trying to get booze/drug money. And let's be real, many if not most are. But you should still treat each person with a certain level of decency and respect regardless of what you think their "lifestyle" is.
We don't necessarily know what led each person into a particular way of life and really, if you believe in a purely deterministic universe, free will doesn't exist anyway ;) Hell, even if you believe in an omnipotent creator you still must concede that some cases of poor lifestyle choices are not the fault of the chooser. Bet you never expected to get this deep into philosophy on Google Reviews, did you?
P. S. It did smell like ozone in the recycling area even with large openings to the outside air. Definitely more than in the outside ambient air. It's probably from the large electric motors in there and can't be great for the employees over long periods of time. Might be time to change those brushes (but these are probably 3-phase motors without brushes) or use better ventilation. Just trying to help...
Met by absolute jerk in aluminum area. Then manager said he had a king day, blah blah blah. Seems like top down no respect for people at all. I will never be back here.
In and out bout hour to get loaded , semi dry van. D..aka Derrick front guard koo AF.. had me lmfao, great experience when u got koo down to earth people like that working for ya
3rd and final try here. 20 minutes in line,l after being sent there by cashier. sent back to empty shack at entrance told to wait again. When calling the front desk, was sent to speak with lady at scaled.l, who said the shack person was on break. I explained I'd been waiting for 20 minutes (to which she replied no you haven't) and I didn't want to wait at an empty shack (she said well you don't have to). So I hung up and tried to reach a manager. Both requests for a manager led me to a voicemail and an offer to write down a number.
Someone should fire the rude scale lady and teach this place how to treat people.
I'll be sure to spread the word.
It's a fair place though sometimes it's a bit of a wait to get through the line. Since being bought out by an out of state company ,it seems there is less enthusiasm amongst the employees but all in all I would say it's still the best place to sell scrap metal in Central Arkansas. It usually always pays the most and is still the same old ugly eye sore thankfully off the main highway unlike the rest of them that sit right front and center helping North Little Rock look as ugly as the personality of most of the leadership in its City Government and its shameful borderline crooked "ol' boy and buddy favor system that has stagnated it's growth and perpetuated it's long history of neglect for it's older neighborhoods.
The scrap yard in very well organized the payment system works very well they also pay a very fair price for your battles it can be crowded on Friday afternoons
Every time I'm in there that treat me really good I work five for one stop and we take metal there all the time now treat me pretty good even though some of our loads are messed up metal but I never treated me bad I like I like going there
Scale r not accride the scale should show the customer the weight too otherwise in office they make a number up cause I've been there four. Times in a row Everytime had different metal item but my wieght was Everytime the same 620 pounds I complained for no use my metal was already off the truck so wieght is determined bye how the lady feels behind the glass office
If u enjoy being cheated and ripped off tenenbaum recycling center is where u should be great learning experience
I
It's okay I guess but they always tell me one price and then when I get there they give me a different price which is absolutely wrong they also tell me that I have a different weight then we do when we get there we weigh everything on digital scales before we get there so we know when approximately Within about 50 lb no more we have we even take off for the boxes did they put in we had about four thousand pounds 3800 exactly we got paid for 2200 or something we were told it was up $0.15 a pound we got paid less than we did the time before we were expecting 375 a pound we got 350 last time we were paid 360 if you had $0.15 to that that's 375 a pound we're Number One copper where general contractor would bring a lot of stuff to you guys but we don't tell our customers one thing and do something else other than that it's an okay experience I only come there because I have a family member who works there they asked me to bring the material to them
Overall, we typically have a good experience. When we went yesterday, the cashier on duty was extremely rude; she actually yelled at my husband! Very poor communication and customer service.
Thieves and Liars
They'll tell you one price then turn around and short change you by 500lbs+ then pay $0.12 per pound for aluminum chips after telling you a different price.
They won't be getting any of my aluminum ever again. Nothing.
1 week ago when I brought in a mixed load that was all separated categorized and alphabetized, I got what I expected it to bring as a result of checking the prices first. Also I just love the extremely detailed receipt they give which lists a the weights and prices which really leaves no question that your being paid exactly right and there is just no way your being cheated.
I called to ask for directions and a man named Rob was extremely hateful. He started talking very fast and kept firing off directions like east, west, etc., but refused to give me exact street names. When I told him where I was, approximately 4 blocks from the business as it would turn out, he raised his voice and said if I didn't know my east from my west then he wouldn't tell me how to get there. I had to ask several times why he couldn't just give me exact street names to get there from where I was, he finally did and then hung up on me. How horribly ill-mannered, not to mention unprofessional. I doubt we will ever be back. Someone needs to seriously counsel this obnoxious man about his uncivilized behavior with the customers.
Brought in 30 lbs worth of solid copper heatsinks from servers. Paid me the "insulated copper" pricing of $0.20/lb instead of the full price of $1.60/lb. Did the same thing for a load of ewaste i brought in to scrap too. Paid me the advertised $0.60/b for 10lbs, then $0.02 for 54lbs. DO NOT GO TO TENENBAUM, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.
