I grew up in this town where the little Golden gate is!!! So you know I have nothing but amazing things to say beautiful lake beautiful bridge beautiful drive!!
The first time in saw this, I was riding my Harley around Eureka Springs and basically stumbled across this bridge and had no idea what it was and WHY it was out here in the middle of nowhere.. I stopped at the small park on the end and read the small history plaques and looked it up online. The next time I went, it was to show it off to someone else and even picked up a few bargains at a nearby garage sale. Its a one way bridge and its well worth the short drive from downtown Eureka Springs as is theride/drive itself which takes you through a valley with mountains on either side and a river running thru it..
This is a nice drive. You have to pay attention it is rather challenging in spots and it's a narrow road.
It also passes a winery?
Then after crossing the bridge you wind your way into Eureka
Springs right by the railroad.?
There's a nice bench ?you can sit on the river next to the bridge. Have a picnic. There's also a RV campground right there, as well as several BnB units.
A pleasant place to stay for a week. ?
It's always fun to sit and watch people play chicken across the one lane bridges in the area ??
This one actually got closed the day after I crossed it. They were inspecting? it at the time and they found something wrong. ?
What a neat experience!! Beautiful drive there to see the bridge and a neat experience for the family. Was staying in the area at the Eureka Springs Koa Journey and wanted to explore the area. I took my son and grandson here to see the bridge and experience driving across an old wooden bridge. Has a neat spring nearby and has lots of history. It's definitely worth a drive to see the bridge and the area.
Awesome bridge with wooden floors and the lake was very scenic. Only one vehicle can cross at a time. Beautiful area but the roads are narrow, steep and curvy getting there and after. Don't take an RV through there. Low clearances on that road and I think not allowed on the bridge. As a photographer, it was well worth the drive.
Interesting little bridge. Traveled by lots of bikes when we were there; we had to back up across the bridge to let some through so they didn’t have to reverse. Interesting area surrounding it, as well.
Fun to see and drive over the narrow (one car at a time) bridge. There is a nice day use area to picnic by the water. A great nursery along the route with trails by the creek and a drive thru coffee shop!
This is a beautiful little one lane bridge. It's only one car width wide so you have to wait for the bridge to clear if someone is coming the other way before crossing. Worth seeing this mini Golden Gate Bridge.
Check it out! Doesn't cost anything to cross this only working wooden suspension bridge in Arkansas. One vehicle at a time and a weight limit of 10 tons. Scenic area.
This is an old historic one-lane bridge. You can only go 10 miles an hour and you're not supposed to stop on it. It is very loud ? and I thought I was going to pop a tire or fall through the bridge. A LITTLE scary ? but enjoyable. Not a good system of knowing if it's okay to go, you literally have to just visually see if there's any cars on the other side trying to go as well.
Really cool bridge. Apparently the only suspension bridge in Arkansas, and in true Arkansas fashion it's wooden paved and single lane. Much longer than I thought it would be. You can only park on the north side due to the confusion parking on the south side would cause with traffic trying to yield to the one way nature of the bridge. Be sure to check out the Beaver Spring on the south side as well.
The bridge has been redone since that famous video of the bus driving over it. It looks tons better! The water is extremely low. There are vultures every where. Still a pretty much area.
