Stopped there this morning based on a referral. I had a mix of scrap metals. Todd helped me out, it was fast, efficient and we worked together to get me unloaded quickly. Great place to take your scrap. They have top pricing in the area also.

After reading reviews about this place I decided to try them and took all my metal there two weeks ago and thought it's a 30 minute drive for me, I am so happy I did. The staff are super helpful and it's a clean yard and their prices are far far better than the yard I had been using. The lady in the office Dianna I think she said her name was, She noticed it was my first time there and showed me how the cash machine works and a week later I went back with more stuff and I was surprised she reminded me and asked if I remembered how to use the cash machine. The team here is great the prices are great well worth the drive and it's a great place to recycle your scrap. Will never go anywhere else but here. Thank you to your team for a great experience.
Great place to recycle any and all of the metal, products. They give top prices for your scrap metals. This is one of the cleanest scrap yards that I've ever seen, must be a good work environment 👏 👍.
The most pleasant and helpful people working here! Will definitely bring anything I need to recycle to Alter Metal. Even on a cloudy day, everyone was a ray of sunshine. Made my day better just by dropping off some cans. Price paid was excellent as well!
Been going to the Pewaukee location for many years, through multiple owners, the current staff is the best I've experienced to date. Bridget, the yard manager, is awesome - very friendly and courteous.
If you have any metal to recycle, this is the place to go! Todd was SUPER helpful and busted his butt to help me get all of my different metals to the right place. This was my first time recycling metal and even though he was the only one there, he was patient with me and walked me through the rules and helped me figure out anything I didn’t have quite right. I now know what I’m doing for future visits. Thanks again Todd! I will definitely be back!
If you like being treated rudely by some young punk in the drive thru head to Alter. Otherwise I'm heading to Midwest. The lady in the office wasn't much nicer.
I can’t stress how super awesome the gal in the office is! She was so helpful in answering all my questions and even waited to the end of the day for me because I work in Eagle. The man who I believe is the owner even turned around because he saw me coming down the road. They were all fantastic and I would definitely recommend them for service. Thanks again them! If you kind of sort your load prior to taking it in, they will usually further separate items to give you more money. Even if you know nothing about metals or scrap, you should be confident that this place won't take advantage of your unknowing.
Came here for the first time yesterday, and I'll definitely be back! I've been to a few places like this in the past, but Alter is very well organized! The staff was friendly, helpful and on the ball. I dropped off my aluminum and was paid cash right away by the super nice lady in the office!
I'll be telling all of my friends about them, and sending as much business their way as I can.

I was given a Cadillac converter, in exchange for work. Not knowing anything about selling them I went to the scrap yard where I was told that they do not accept them but that I what I was holding was worth a lot of money. I called and asked if they accepted they said replied yes I drove 13 miles to walk away with $24 I had asked a couple people if I could trade for the year of my truck and which had bought without a Cadillac converter, and needed/need. But they did call us back and made it correct. I highly recommend them!! Thank you very much.
I go here to get rid of any metals from projects. Today I took in my old garage doors and tracks that were 30 years old. Picked up 63.00 for my efforts.
I will definitely take my scrap metal to this place again. Guys in the yard were super helpful and friendly. The office girl was equally as nice, had cash in hand within five minutes. Customer for life!

This is one of the nicer scrap yards i have used. Friendly people and relatively clean, no mud puddle to drive in all concrete pad. And best of all they paid twice what my local yard was paying. Well worth the 45 minute drive.
Easygoing in and out with a young man learning how to recycle. Nice. Scale operations smooth traffic flow. Their trailer operator was especially nice not to park us in, he asked if we could get out. Great day for all.
This place flat out ripped me off! One of the employees saw that I had catalytic converters. He offered me cash, on the side, claiming that he'd give me more money than Miller. After the exchange, I asked around about the real value and was totally swindled.
We take our soda cans in to this location every couple of months or so. The employees are always friendly and professional. Our parents downsized their home about 14 months ago, and we brought many different kinds of metal to get rid of (nuts, bolts, sheet metal, wire, electrical parts, motors and more). Employees tested the different metals, told us what it was, and recycled it for us. It was nice getting extra cash in our pockets and a cleaner basement. We will continue to recycle at this location.
On 2 separate ocassions, once with me & once with my son, they tried to rob us by telling us what we had was only worth a few dollars. On my son's trip, he had to get the manager, who gave him $70 for something the workers told us would only be $17 & on my visit they offered $2 for something I got $50 elsewhere. BEWARE.
Miller Compressing is about a mile from my house so its been very convenient to go to. However, both myself and my father have found the staff there to be pretty rude and condescending especially if youre not familiar with the process and dont know what youre doing. They bark orders at you like youre the biggest moron on the planet.
This last time was the final straw. I loaded my truck up by myself with some pretty heavy stuff. I was cutting it close on time. They close at 11:45, I thought so they could be out by 12:00. Showed up at 11:40 and they turned me away. When I showed them that my cell phone said 11:40 they said, "no we need to be gone by 11:45." He was quite busy though, standing there smoking his cigarette. If you want to be gone at 11:45, then close at 11:30. Now I have to unload my truck, then reload it on Monday. I wont be taking it back there though.
