Stayed in the cozy Artist Cottage for the weekend. Had a very peaceful and relaxing time. The grounds are just as peaceful to walk. Beautiful scenery. Will definitely return in the future! :)
Our Dad used his his Carpenter skills for many years working doing what he loved. His Church, friends and Family were his love. A local family has taken over and has Done a Wonderful job Preserving and maintaining a beautiful history place.
Great little nature area if you want to go for a nice little hike. While I was there, I noticed that there were at least two AirBnB style properties there to rent, which is really neat because the Glen and surrounding area is so peaceful. I can only imagine what it's like at nighttime.
Wow! What an unexpectedly altering experience! I went to a Durward’s Glen Winter Retreat, nervous to be outside of my comfort zone, but figuring it would be good for me to relax a little. I had no idea of the impact I was about to feel!
Jerianne and Angie thought of every last detail. My room was so sweet, dimly lit, filled with treats and goodies from women-owned companies, and oh so welcoming. There was calming music playing throughout the building, always guiding us to explore, always leading to more therapeutic corners to unfold. It was obvious that these women had thought through every aspect of the retreat to fill up our buckets!
Every detail was thoughtfully planned out to provide us with nurturing comfort and care. There was always a warm, savory aroma in the building from Mary’s gourmet cooking. We never went without; there were snacks and fun drinks available all the time and I always felt nourished. The treats were delicious and it was so refreshing to not have to worry about what I’d be cooking, just to know that it was another thing removed from my mental load.
I loved my yoga experience with Tatsiana and the heart-healing sessions with Steven, who is so insightful and has an infectious energy. The sound bath was such an amazing, new experience and we all loved it so much that we hung around and talked with Jeremy for quite a while! Every journaling prompt was so intentional and well thought out that I really reflected on my life experiences. One of my favorite activities was the poetry reading, because we all decided to jump in and participate, making it even more fun and heartfelt.
I was so nervous to attend this retreat because meeting new people intimidates me and I didn’t want to spend the weekend making small talk. This event pulled in the sweetest women and I couldn’t have been more wrong about how I would spend my time. Every single woman that attended had a warmth and kindness that wrapped around our group in the most caring cocoon. We all left feeling refreshed, cared for, full of new friendships and with our buckets filled up!
Visiting the glen felt sacred and left me feeling a kismet connection to my healing. Every experience, session, conversation, and self-exploration led to the vulnerable work that I needed, but didn’t know that I was capable of. I cannot thank Jerianne and her hardworking team enough for all of the love, time, work, and care they put into this retreat, it was truly beautiful!
Attended the Women's Restorative Retreat and can't say enough great things about Jeri and the energy is bringing to Durwood's Glen. The Retreat was well organized, attention to detail was outstanding and a phenomenal location. From welcome bags to matching lounge sets, she took great care of us!
Cool serene place to visit. Even if your not religious, it’s a quiet escape in nature, with some history to the grounds! The gorge like glen is really impressive. Lots to explore, saw a bunch of interesting fungi as well!
Bagpipes in the Glenn. Always a fun event set in a beautiful serene setting. With as much toe tapping as you end up doing to the reels and jigs by the end of the evening a marathon could have been run. Singing along and dancing is encouraged. A lovely experience for any age and so well organized. I especially love sharing this evening event with my Dad and Mom every year. If you havent heard Amazing Grace played via a bag pipe ...well.... you just havent had your heart touched. Cant wait til next time.
The fall colors are still wonderful and the beautiful setting is spectacular. Stations of the cross is inspirational and will have you reflecting on you own personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ.
We were looking for a small retreat center to facilitate 15 to 20 men and we found Bethel Horizon Retreat Center. Excellent facilities and wonderful location. Bethel staff is easy to work with and very welcoming and let us make ourselves at home. We will be scheduling more retreats in the future!
This is such an amazing place. First you notice the beauty--the stream, pond, trees, log buildings. Then you are struck by the holiness that resides there. It is a very healing place. Wonderful for a retreat for one person or a group. The people who guard the Glen are very nice to work with. Rooms are moderately priced and quaint. You can't help but be renewed by a visit here.
