Anytime I bring non ferrous in the guy in the shop weighing my stuff puts my metal as a lower paying metal.i had 25 lbs of white brass checked it myself but he Insisted it was dicast aluminum

Brought in lead weights from commercial fishing nets today. When I asked about pricing I was told .40 if dirty or .43 cents if clean. After weighed and dumped into a large bin the price we were paid was 4 cents per pound. They classified our weights as wheel weight. Totally ripped us off! Talk about bait and switch.
The posted hours are until 3:30 Monday - Friday, however they never stay open until 330p. They close at 315. Either stay open as posted, or change your posted hours alter!
Brought some copper I had to the guys down road before I went here. The way I was treated was unacceptable. I packed up the copper and went to these guys. The folks at Alter were kind, helpful, and answered every question I had. Very polite and made the process very smooth. I’d recommend bringing ALL of my scrap to Alter. Good group of people in that yard.
Bring in your scrap = prices are high.
Smaller Amounts: South Scale area
Separate your metals if possible in pails buckets etc. Put the metals/batteries etc on a pallet they have and someone on a forklift will get it. Or use the larger steel gondolas for larger amounts of one type of item (ask first). Aluminum cans go into cages I think.
Larger Amounts: North Scale area.
Goto the scale and they will direct you. Weigh on scale upon entry and each time you drop off a certain metal type = follow their directions from scale. When done payment is inside scale area.
They also sell steel new (inside a building) and used. They can also cut steel and size it for you. (ask and they will get somebody). Sheets, bars, i,L beams, c-channel etc.
There are two rates for metals in general. Clean and dirty.
Clean aluminum - aluminum only no steel etc.
Dirty aluminum - has steel parts/pins in it. (paid less)
=separate the clean from the dirty to get about 4x the money for it.

They set up a business account for me and the service is always personal and fantastic across the board. All the staff I've dealt with have been friendly and helpful. They've also worked with me as I learned a few things. Last but definitely not least, they pay better than the other places I've checked in town! That's a win win in my book! Very friendly...fair pricing...should have more parking in the main weigh station lot by the main office, semis and trailers were parking people in while they went into office and the office had about 12 people inline...now that, We were NOT happy about!! Other than that, great service!
They weren't the fastest, I had to wait for a large truck in front of me. You also have to trust their weight since their scale is out of your view. But I got money for what I brought and that's the important part.
This place is a joke. Unbelievably bad customer service, a terrible layout, and employees who have no clue what to do. I recommend finding somewhere else to sell.
Sketchy business practices. Brought in some decent steel. Was told to unload it by the shred/misc. pile. Came back with a second load and saw my steel moved to a newer higher paying area. Scale person said second time unload it by the appliances.
For being one of the biggest recycling plants in NorthEast Wisconsin, they aren't bad for a corp. Bring in a hundred kilos of aluminum and they treat you well with going dollars.
Absolutely ridiculous that the website says open until 5pm but that's ONLY for the scale..... came here from out of town......very upset customer!!!!!!!!
