What clients say about Skagit Building Salvage in Mount Vernon (WA)

I love this store! Every time I've shopped there, the customer service has been amazing. When I bought my new house and needed vintage light fixtures and other items to match the era of my house, I asked one of the owners, Brandon, to help me out. He found just what I needed. As I tackle future renovations, I'll always go to Skagit Building Salvage first. Why go anywhere else?

Went there my first time and I got a friendly greeting when I walked in. The merchandise is very good quality, reasonably priced. I bought a vacuum and an extension cord, and while those items had an obviously used appearance, they have paid for themselves already with the amount of use I've gotten out of them. The staff (actually I think it was the owner) didn't mind me trying both items out before buying either.

Great place for used building materials with super low prices. Nice staff, too. We bought 7 brand new Andersen windows for $800. Those windows would have cost over $3000 at Home Depot. Def make this place your first stop for building materials and supplies.

Always a great place to visit whether you know what you want or you don't. They have it and you'll be happy to find it! Don't buy new when you don't have to!

There is a pretty good selection. They even had some fasteners for our project. All the staff were very helpful. The gentleman helping us was knowledgeable and very courteous. I'm glad we made the trip down!

We have gone there many times and still do. We find so many things perfect for house fixes and projects! The gentleman there are so kind and social! Great prices too!

I had been to their former location several times but this was my first time visiting their new location since their move many years ago. Lots of fun stuff to rummage through, inside and out. As a miniaturist always on the hunt for unusual, small items to use in my art, I found a nice little pile of items to buy. But even handfuls of small things add up fast but the folks on staff were really nice and gave me a deal that made me feel supported as an artist. Its time for a return visit!

We have been driving by for years and finally went in today, the place was absolutely AMAZING! We were just looking for cabinets but came out with plants and so much more. We had no idea the amount of of different things that they have. I would highly recommend this place for anything you might need! Everyone was also super friendly and helpful!!!!

This place rocks! It’s a DIY dream. Old doors, new doors, fittings, oddball household things you haven’t seen in a while but find your need to repair something. It’s a cool place!

Excellent selection of materials and tools, very impressed with the collection of pulleys. The staff was responsive and kind to questions. Look forward to visiting again.

I love this store. The guys there are super helpful and good natured, making it an excellent shopping experience. They have a ton of building supplies, tools, furniture and tons of other cool random stuff. If you want to reclaim or re-use quality building materials with history this should be your first stop. If you like vintage stuff you should check this place out. If you have a home improvement project or repair and can't find that one random part/piece because they stopped making it 20 years ago and without it it's gonna cost your first born to replace said thing, I feel for you and hate when that happens, but you should go check out skagit building salvage because they have everything and that part/piece could be a thing they have.

Love the selection, price and fun/real customer service. Help if needed but left alone if just wandering. The selection is one of the best for any salvage business I’ve visited in the state and the prices are at or below expectations. There is always plenty to discover but most importantly they are very well organized and clean. My only negative is we don’t live closer and don’t get to visit often enough.

Very helpful staff. Great variety of material. I visit here before I buy new. Even had some SS hardware for boat projects!

What a cool place to find all kinds of treasures. I have been looking for 2 old rope & pulley style windows for a craft project for a while now & they had quite a few to choose from. Yea! I like just looking around this place, they have so many things to see. From old doors to old tools, antiques, you name it, they got it.

We just used Skagit Salvage for the first time and could not have had a better experience! We were shopping from down in Seattle, so over the course of multiple phone calls with the staff there they got me measurements, prices, and sent me photos of the items we were considering. They really could not have been more helpful or friendly, and made the process so easy and smooth! Thanks especially to Chris for all his help. We will definitely be back.

I have been going to SBS for many years, sometimes to sell cool things I picked up elsewhere (but never figured out where they fit in at home) and sometimes because the old item I found there just couldn't be resisted. I have told lots of folks over the years they just need to take a stroll through for entertainment value, if nothing else. Lots of my out-of-town guests have to go back there for a visit when they come to Anacortes. GREAT PLACE!!

We just picked up a beautiful vintage toilet here. Tim was super helpful, very knowledgeable and super nice. The prices are good. Tim was right there to help my husband load the toilet. I'd go do business with them again.

Love this place, their facebook posts of incoming building materials and supplies or super helpful. Visit this store before you buy new! #upcycle They also take usable building donations!

I have to give them 1 star because two days in a row I showed up at 5 (the website and the door both have hours posted until 5:30) and both days CLOSED already.. I could see people inside so I knocked, they did everything in their power to ignore me and not make eye contact.. kind of rude not to even acknowledge me.. anyways, please change your signs because your hours are clearly marked incorrectly since you are never actually open until 5:30 ??

Always go with high hopes and leave disappointed and empty handed. Great place if you’re looking for genuine antiques and vintage stuff and are willing to pay a lot extra for that. Not great if you’re looking to actually save money on salvaged building materials. Have found identical brand new products cheaper at Home Depot.

They have lots of stuff, some pretty cool things, but their prices are clearly for yuppies with money, most things priced at new or higher such as doors (most without frames) and windows. Little things like hinges were 8-20 bucks a piece! So wish they were more affordable because there's plenty we'd buy. We'll just stick with Arlington Pickers or the thrift stores in Stanwood/Camano because their prices are much more suitable to what their selling and they also have awesome finds. Was very excited to find this place but after seeing their prices, we won't be back, and we're always renovating and looking for cool fixtures.

Great place to go a browse around and get inspired for home projects. I bought a pair of clear fur doors that where new and the price was great. I made this table for my stereo and tv electronics. First time using wooden dowel pins to assemble all the pieces.

Really cool place. They have an amazing variety of used furniture, small appliances, windows, various toilet fixtures, sinks, lots of different kinds of flooring, and miscellaneous stuff like parts of an organ, and really old stuff also. You need to see it to believe it. Great place for bathroom fixture parts. Check it out!! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Love this place. They have so many unique items that will give your home or other project some character. Prices are not bad. Staff are helpful. I love the concept that they have for their business; keeping good usable items out of the landfill. I love the free section and free wood pile too. Though lately the free wood pile has been lacking. But hey it was free to begin with so beggars can't be choosers.

There is a bunch of everything at that store. The guys who work there are helpful and usually around to answer questions and find out prices of unmarked items. There are some unique items there and some items are kind of overkill like the 62 (or however many, I didnt actually count) vintage mortise locks. They have antiques and tools too. There is so much to see and look through so take some time with you when you go.

This place is F***ING amazing! I have found all brand new, fun, mismatched kitchen cabinets for a friend's funky kitchen remodel. I've found beautiful windows to replace old ones. I've bought both interior and exterior doors here. It's so much fun to look around and find the treasures! Now if I could just figure out a project for all those old pink and blue toilets.....haha! Go exploring and have fun!
