Late one evening, after driving over 10 hours from Atlanta with just 90 minutes left to reach Washington, D.C., our vehicle broke down on I-81 North near Tom’s Brook, VA. What could have been a nightmare turned into an incredibly positive experience thanks to two amazing people. First, Danny from JPG Towing came to our rescue and safely towed us to Hockman’s Auto Repair. The next morning, Corey was an absolute Godsend. He repaired our vehicle quickly, competently, and at a very reasonable price. We are so grateful for their fast, honest, and professional help when we needed it most!

This mechanic shop saved my BEHIND. Absolutely stellar place all around, if you talk to anyone nearby they will recommend Hockman’s. I was traveling through town late at night, my car engine seized up, gas pedal stopped working, I pulled over and originally was going to take it somewhere else, but my tow truck driver recommended Hockman’s because Hockman’s is the best.
First thing in the morning the next day I got a plan for how they were going to diagnose and repair my car, and phone call updates a couple times as they were working on it, with a final quote which I approved and price was very reasonable.
Everything high quality here. My mechanic was an expert, I was treated fairly, communicated with, honestly I’ve never had a better experience in my life with a car mechanic

Corey is an extremely honest, knowledgeable, and dependable mechanic. He takes the time to explain what’s going on with your vehicle in a way that actually makes sense and never pressures you into unnecessary repairs. His pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of his work is consistently excellent.

Roadtripping with my fiance on a Saturday and our car needed help immediately. Hockmans not only fit us in, but they also gave us a great suggestion for a tow truck. Incredibly nice, fair pricing, if you're having car troubles they're fantastic.
I had my radiator replaced and he did it so quickly I was shocked. He did an amazing job with an amazing price. Cory originally helped me in walmart to find the right oil filter for my car. As there wasn't the proper book to look it up. Very nice hardworking guy.
Mr. Hockman, owner/operator, has been consistently doing a great job with all our vehicles in our fleet. He is very fair and reasonable in all aspects as well as honest and upfront. Mr. Corey Hockman is polite and communicates very well with any work that needs to be done. We highly recommend Hockman's Auto Repair as we will continue to do business with him as usual.
Also want to point out here that, the one and only previous negative review on Oct 30, 2025 (if still posted) was, and embarrassed to say, from my 16-yr old, disgruntled grandson Jon, who had mismatched expectations. I was the one who requested the service he was referring to, and I also was the one who paid the bill. Jon is not the owner of the truck, only an authorized user. Mr. Hockman performed exactly what he was expected to and did a great job in making the vehicle safe to drive as I requested and also kept it at a more than reasonable cost for me. Anything above and beyond was supposed to be addressed and paid for by Jon, not me. The information in that review was totally false and inconsistent with reality. It is a shame that ppl think they can use reviews and the internet for revenge because they don't know how to communicate in respectable open conversations, and don't understand what is really going on, and/or uneducated in the business and/or they don't get their way, which is publicly displayed and hurtful if unwarranted.
I hope Mr. Hockman will accept my apologies on my grandson's behalf for his bad display of character, as he refuses to listen & learn from his elders. ~LB
Guy is a genuine idiot. Had my entire front end redone on my 2011 powerstroke. Failed to mention he doesn’t do alignments till he was part way through doing it. He was almost a week late getting it done. He did not do the sway bar links or brackets after I told him specifically to do so, he also managed to round the bolts off for the bracket for the sway bar itself. I told him specifically I wanted motorcraft parts and he went and used a bunch of autozone junk. Over 0/10, paid this guy 2100 bucks to not even finish the job. Do your business elsewhere!
I had Corey work on 2 of my vehicles. both of them he did an amazing job. I live in harrisonburg and will bring my vehicles to him still. its hard to find an honest shop that you can trust. im very great full I was told about hockmans. he honestly saved me alot of money. thank you again Corey for the great work.
Honest, Skilled, and Part of the Community
I’ve been the one-time owner of a 2016 Nissan Murano that I’ve tried to keep running strong since it was paid off. For a long time, I stuck with dealership service for maintenance like brakes and tires, but every dealership is 30 to 45 minutes away, which isn’t exactly convenient.
One day I started looking for a local option, and that’s when I found Hockman's Automotive Repair, right within walking distance of my home. The reviews were glowing, and after my first visit, I immediately understood why. Corey is kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and above all, trustworthy. You can tell he’s giving you the truth, not trying to upsell or inflate prices. In fact, I had dealership quotes that were significantly higher than what Corey charged me for the same repairs with quality work.
What really made me trust him even more were the reviews from out-of-state travelers who broke down on I-81 and said Corey helped them out on a Saturday. That’s the kind of person he is, the kind you hope still exists in the world. And in his case, thankfully, he does.
Working with Corey honestly reminds me of the kind of community I grew up in. I'm from West Virginia, where you knew your neighbors, you played with their kids, and you ran in and out of each other’s homes. That’s how it feels to have Hockman's Automotive Repair just down the street, like family.
He recently diagnosed and fixed a leak in my car caused by a clogged sunroof drain, something I never would have figured out myself, and he did it quickly and at a very reasonable price.
I genuinely appreciate Corey and his work. I'm almost hesitant to post this glowing review because I don’t want the whole world to discover him and make it harder to get an appointment. However, good people doing honest work deserve to be recognized. If you’re lucky enough to live near Hockman's, don’t think twice, this is your guy.
Where do i start!!! I have known Corey for a good while and let's just say this guy has always been about cars. Being a tech myself Corey is even my go too when I'm stumped on something. He is one of the most polite and honest,trustworthy people I have ever met. He is very knowledgeable but also very passionate about automotive repair and finding out the issue, no matter what!!! So happy to see his shop doing well and having the reviews he does because it's describes not only his work ethic and knowledge but his genuine kindness and honesty. If your looking for a shop for your automotive needs in the shenandoah area or even Nothern VA look no further this is the guy and the shop.
Corey was phenomenal! Despite being incredibly backed up he came up with an immediate solution to our auto emergency and we were able to get back to our long trip with only a brief stop!! Highly recommend.

Corey at Hockman's is absolutely wonderful. My family and I had an alternator issue while traveling. He went out of his way to fix our car on Christmas Eve and was incredibly kind, helpful, and fair throughout the process. We continued driving our Honda minivan for an additional 1,000 miles on the trip without any issues. I highly recommend this shop!
The only photo I have is of the road on our way home because of how fast and professionally (and with small-town kindness) we were helped!
Our car wouldn't start at the Sheetz in Woodstock and a jumpstart from a kind employee didn't do the trick, so we got towed to Hockmans - only place we could reach that was open on the Sunday after Thanksgiving!
So grateful we went there, because the mechanic was so friendly and knowledgeable. He quickly tested/diagnosed the issue, got our car running again, and talked us through it and how to ensure we could get through the 2 hour drive back home to Central MD without incident to get a secondary look-over by our usual mechanic.
And after all that, he wouldn't even let us pay him for the help!
