Stopped here on a road trip with a day-of reservation, getting in around 9pm. The clerk was very sweet and helpful and I had no problems with a reservation from a 3rd party site. The room was really lovely and the bed and pillows were especially comfortable. I loved the overall vibes of the huge historic building and thought the decor was nicely updated and everything was very clean. While it was cold and rainy, the morning revealed a lovely outdoor area that made me wish I was visiting in summer, and it’s a direct walk from the hotel to the state park, so you can check out the coolest trail starting right across the street! As other reviews mentioned, there were a bunch of stinkbugs taking shelter in our room, and there is a sign at the front desk warning about it - I feel like reviews complaining about it are a little unfair as it’s an old building inside a state park where they can’t hose everything with pesticides. The bugs were not gross or noisy and didn’t bother us at all (although we are professional sailors and used to being outside; if it’s an issue for you just be advised). It’s true that the continental breakfast is small (don’t expect hot eggs or anything) but on par with many other places I’ve stayed. One issue I might note is that when I tried to adjust the thermostat the control thingy fell right out of its socket on the wall! Didn’t cause any issue for me (our room was so cozy) but hopefully I didn’t break anything- it looked like it was never actually screwed in. Overall I thought this was a really fun stop and a hidden gem - much nicer than a motel 6 and with friendly staff!

Vana who was working the front desk was super sweet, kind, professional, and helpful. We bought some Souvenirs from their gift shop and was checking rates for the hotel rooms so when we come back in the summer we will know how much the prices will be about. This is a beautiful hotel and my mom and dad stay here on there honeymoon back in the 80's. Their lobby floor is original from 1963. She told us the history of the building and showed us one of the ballrooms. What a excellent and fabulous experience we had there. They had such a nice display of all kinds of information, history, and artifacts about Natural Bridge and the hotel. Vana is super fabulous!!!! Will be back in the summer. This is definitely a fun place you would enjoy to stay at. So much history here. The hotel is gorgeous. It's a must see hotel. Thank you, Vana for the wonderful hospitality you gave us.

I had an amazing stay at this Hotel! We came mainly to stargaze since Natural Bridge is a Dark Sky Park. We were lucky—the sky was completely clear that night. Even though it’s winter and the Milky Way was faint, it was still very visible. We went out around 8–10 PM, with no moonlight interference, and it was so clear. You can even walk through the tunnel to the parking lot on the other side, which made stargazing very convenient. The staff were super friendly. Even when we went out at 5 AM to see the moonlit stars, they greeted us politely, which was really nice. And the bed… absolutely amazing! So comfortable. I think if I ever come back in the summer to stargaze, I’d definitely stay here again.

Hotel is extremely disgusting. Room had petrified bugs and spiders hanging from the ceiling, but I was told that bugs occur in this area naturally. What does that have to do with you cleaning? Elevators were broken, and I had just had a C-section was not informed of the elevator not working and no accommodation was made. Put on the 3rd floor! Apparently they have been broken for close to a month. Will be reporting this hotel for lack of ADA compliance.

Front desk staff was very nice, but I was very disappointed with the hotel itself. Restaurant is closed for the season, with no indication of this on the website. This is a big deal when your property is a minimum of 1/2 hour away from any food. Elevators were shut down (since December), and again no indication of this on the website. The only public location - the lobby - was extremely cold. The staff had a few space heaters in there, but not enough to prompt guests to use the space. The room was freezing. They turned on the heat to the room upon check-in, and it took about 3-4 hours for the ability to use the room without wearing a coat. I feel cheated by Wyndham Hotels. Had I known this property is not appropriate for winter stays, I would have continued another 1/2 hour down the highway to Roanoke.

We stayed in the 2 queen bed parlor suite January 24, 25, and 26 of 2026. We booked to make sure we had a safe a d warm place during the snow and ice storm for my son. The staff was absolutely AMAZING throughout our stay! We were on the 3rd floor and the elevator was out, but they had 2 young men come help us carry everything up to our room which was a HUGE help. The gentleman were very gracious as well. The room was enormous! We had plenty of space to stretch out and even find some alone time. The parlor suite has 2 bathrooms, too, which was hugely appreciated with 3 people. The beds were in a seperate room from the living space, which was nice when someone wanted to go to bed early or sleep late. The only suggestions would be to put in the room description that there is no stove in the full kitchen and let people know when they book if the elevator is down. Aside from that everything was perfect. We really couldn't ask for a better experience. Again, the staff was absolutely wonderful!

We stayed at the natural bridge Hotel as a pitstop on our way from the north east to Florida. I love old hotels and this seems like a great option because it was pet friendly with a fee. Overall, I would say that the hotel was what I was expecting in terms of it being an interesting historic building with a restaurant so that we could grab some dinner before going to sleep! The room had a comfy bed and was pretty clean. The elevator was out of service and we were out on the third floor, but it was ok! I guess my only concern was the booking process. I booked through booking.com Because that’s what popped up on Google and it seemed like the lowest rate. I don’t book a lot of hotels in general, but I assumed that if the hotel partnered was booking.com they were OK with me using it. We arrived a little bit on the late side after having driven 12 hours and left at 5 AM. My husband waited in the car with the dogs while I ran inside to check in. When I got to the desk, the agent informed me that they did not have my reservation. I showed her my confirmation number on booking.com And she said well, we don’t have it. She said this is why we would prefer you booked through the hotel, Which I didn’t really know that’s what we were supposed to do I guess. At any rate, I was really tired, I had my dogs and my husband waiting for me in the car and I just wanted to check in! She said that I would have to call booking.com and figure it out in order to have the reservation honored. I tried to look for a number on the spot none of the phone numbers for booking.com I could find were working and it was kind of overwhelming to try to be doing that as I’m standing at the desk after having traveled for so long and just wanting to go to get settled, have dinner and go to sleep. I guess I was a little surprised that when I used a booking service that they partner with That I was then told that the reservation just didn’t exist and that that was my problem now. So After trying to figure it out on the phone Standing there for about 20 minutes, I ended up just deciding to pay for a new room. At that time, I was a little bit grumpy because I just felt like this wasn’t the best Experience. As a customer, I have no idea that although booking.com comes up as an option to book their hotel that I wasn’t supposed to actually use that. I asked if they were able to like help me out with a discount on the new room that I am booking specifically if they could waive the Dog fee, which was $30. Which she said was no problem and she would do that. I also asked if I could pay cash and she said I could in the morning at check out. So We went up to the new room and then I downloaded the booking.com app and finally found a phone number that I could call and then sat on hold for about 25 minutes. Luckily, we were in the comfort of a room at that point, the dogs were settled and I had a little bit more to spend the time to do that. It turned out that it was a mistake that booking.com made so they canceled the reservation. We got dinner and spent a good amount of money on that and then went to bed. The next morning I went to check out and pay cash for the room, but they had already run my card. I was a little surprised since I had told her the night before I wanted to pay cash, but that was fine. I don’t normally ask for receipts, but something told me I should on my way out, so she printed it out and gave it to me and then I noticed that they had charged me the dog fee. I asked the clerk About that since the other clerk had said she would waive that fee and I was told that somebody would call me later that day and that she was sure they’d be able to take it off. No one ever called me and they did not take it off. I do realize that it’s not their fault that booking.com made an error and I guess all I would say is that I think that if they don’t want people to use booking.com They should not partner with booking.com. Edit to add: I appeachiate the thoughtful reply, but I still have not been refunded the $30 or contacted.

horrible experience. this hotel is run by completely incompetent staff (aside from one young man that was helpful) first, the elevators are all broken and we had a room on the 3rd floor. we had the carry all of our luggage up multiple flights of stairs. next, our room was freezing cold and the heat was off when we arrived. after several hours of the room remaining cold, we talked to the front desk about checking our heating unit and other options. it took 4 visits to the front desk before they finally came to the room with us check our heat unit and agreed the heat was broken. eventually they gave us an alternative room with working heat after multiple hours in the cold room. upon check in, we were told it was a $30 pet fee, however, the website states it is a $15 pet fee. the front desk lady never apologized or demonstrated any sort of customer service about this and told me to just talk to a manager about it at check out. we waited for 15+ mins to check out, as the desk was left unattended for an extended period of time. when checking out i asked about the pet policy and was told i needed to refer to their website, not 3rd party booking websites, about pet policies. the front desk honored the $15 fee but never apologized and rudely said to refer to their wyndham website next time. here is a screenshot, from today, of THEIR wyndham website stating it is a $15 pet fee. absolutely awful customer service and horribly run hotel. please stay away. better to stay in Lexington or Roanoke. do NOT stay here.

We were driving through booked after dark. My husband and I never had hot water we did try to have a meal in the restaurant which was closed even though it was advertised as open from 7:00 to 10:00. Since we've realized we couldn't have a shower we went and had dinner and came back and turned it on for over 30 minutes never got hot. We were greeted at the door with "the elevator is not working and I'm putting you on the 3rd floor. They advertised a balcony but we had nothing but a window. There was a huge wall with a 26 inch TV and no movie channels. The only thing great about the place was the lobby and I spent less than 5 minutes in the lobby. Stay elsewhere if you go to the area. Stay at a chain.

Went just after Christmas. Hotel was relatively empty. Elevator was broken which was fine but my pet friendly room was on the 3rd floor. Seeing that the hotel was no were near full it would have been nice to have the room adjusted based on the elevator but all in all was OK. Room was fine. Good view. Staff was friendly and front desk offered to assist with carrying due to the elevator being out of order.

My water wouldn't get hot, my room was colder than outside when I arrived. I got charged $155 for my room. Than 5 days later got the exact same charge on my card a second time. This place is a scam. Do not stay

Horrible experience . Originally suppose to stay 2 nights. We checked out the next morning due to unsatisfactory conditions. The lobby and hallways were freezing. The restaurant was closed but the bar was opened but it was so cold and they were only serving beer and wine. The food choice was only flat bread pizza. The elevator was broken and the bed had red stain on the sheets and pillow and the comforter has black stains that appeared to be mascara. When I told the lady at the front desk why I was unhappy she didn’t seem to care, never said I’m sorry and when I showed her the picture of the sheets she said that she couldn’t begin to tell me what that was! Unfortunately because I booked with a third party I could not get a refund. My husband has stayed here many times and have always been very satisfied but this time was horrible.

There were 5-6 bugs on the ceiling in our room. I called the front desk to be told the kind of bug they are and that they are coming in from the cold. They offered to vacuum them as a temporary, throw away solutions. We had dinner in the tavern (no difference from the colonial dining room) and it was low quality food, overpriced, and one server was working two rooms plus the bar by herself. It took 5-10 minutes to get menus and 15-20 to put in our order. The lobby area and bathrooms and restaurant were noticeably cold. The check in/out experience was fine and the servers were very nice. The location to the Natural Bridge can’t be beat. But all of that was overshadowed by the negatives. I would not recommend this place.

What a spectacular location in the mountains and a charming old inn. Our waitress Beth was so friendly and thoughtful. We met the chef and the food was delicious. Best hamburger and the Caesar salad was special. It is now our go to place on our snowbird travels.

Omg. The front desk staff very polite, but our room was not even close to being ready at 5pm! We went to the room, the door was open, the pillows and sheets were all in disarray, used bath towels were on the bed! I went downstairs to get another room and they were accommodating so that was good, however, the second room was not dusted, the tub did not drain, part of the tub was rusted. I don't know when that room had been cleaned last. The restaurants inside the hotel were good however the magement decided for some reason that the wait ataff needed to be "monitored". It was ridiculous! The "fily" members that was overseeing things did absolutely nothing to help the staff. They just stood there and stared at us. It was so dumb. I don't understand what they are there for. At least seat people or pour coffee. The wait ataff were doing their job correctly so what's the point?

The experience was unfortunate and it's solely based on poor management. I specifically chose to stay at this hotel due to the location and the room accommodations needed for my family. We came here for my daughter's 16th birthday. We requested a king size room connected to a double. We checked in no issues. We noticed a piercing noise in the room but could not figure out where it was coming from. We spent the day out the room. The following morning we determine new the noise was coming from the toilet. We left for a hike upon our return I contacted Jennifer at the front desk. I explain the problem and about 20 minutes later a maintenance man came. He loosely explained the toilet valve needed to be replaced. It was later determined they didn't have the part. Jennifer did offer to change our room however I explained the need for joining rooms due to having different sex teenagers in the other room. We were later offered a breakfast voucher which felt like an insult. The following morning the issue was discussed again with my partner talking to the front desk. He played the sound to show how annoying it is to listen to and the front desk called the sheriff on him for "disturbing other guests". The manager or owner whomever refused to speak with us. The sheriff come on property and agreed that the noise was a major inconvenience. They ultimately left with no issues or citations which shows there was no merit to the call. They did however provide me with another to further complain about the experience which I plan on doing.

Deluxe double queen room was nice till the shower. The tub was clogged so my wife had water over her ankle 1/2 way through. I pulled a significant hair wad out.. I let the staff know on checkout did not seem to care.

The room was very clean, the bed was quite comfortable, and the staff was very friendly! That being said… According to their instructions in the room, there was supposed to be a microwave in the room. It was down the hall with the mini fridge (why would I put anything in a mini fridge sitting down the hall that anyone had access to? What about my insulin?) There was no trash can or plastic utensils, or anything else near said microwave. Also there was a coffee maker in my room, with no plastic utensils to stir my coffee. Priceline says this is a 3-star hotel & no microwave or mini fridge in the room? I stayed at a MOTEL in PA which had both. Still, I was only here for one night & it was definitely quite suitable for that. The breakfast was very good in the restaurant, however it was not included. It would have been nice to have a choice of a small complimentary breakfast, like a continental breakfast. (There was buffet equipment there but not being used) Then if you choose a hot breakfast, the restaurant is there. I stayed the previous night at a 2-star hotel that had a hot breakfast included. They offered pretty much everything (eggs, bacon, cereal, bagels, etc). Lastly, down the hall there were 2 washers & 2 dryers, all out of order, with a note that said “At this time we do not have guest laundry facilities. The closest laundromat is about 10 minutes away” Seriously? A 3-star hotel and you can’t keep the laundry machines working or get new ones? I wasn’t about to drive down the road to the laundromat. A nice Historical hotel, but debating whether I will stay again.

The rooms were dusty and had lots of bugs and the heater was extremely loud so I did not sleep. What salvaged the experience was breakfast in the Colonial Dining Room with Beth as our server. She is amazing and really made the stay better.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Stay and Dining Experience! We had a wonderful experience at the Natural Bridge Hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a relaxing stay in such a beautiful and historic area. The location couldn’t be more convenient—just steps away from the Natural Bridge and other local attractions. The highlight of our visit was definitely The Tavern. The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared, and the service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. It’s clear that the staff truly care about making guests feel welcome. Overall, a fantastic experience—great food, great service, and a spotless, comfortable hotel in a perfect location. Highly recommend!

We stayed here on November 1st-2nd and when we booked the pictures on the website made it look like it was going to be very nice and comfy after a 4.5 hr drive. The lady that checked us in was super nice. The room was filthy, no vent fan in the extremely tiny bathroom and made the room very humid after just 1 of us showered. The towels were super thin and brittle. Walls and floors were so dirty that my white socks were dirty from walking to the bed from the bathroom. Breakfast was just okay. We tried the buffet and it wasn't the worst but not what was bragged about. The lady at the desk that sunday morning made all of it even more frustrating! We were in the elevator, going to the 3rd floor from the lobby and she got on at the 2nd floor and wanted to cram us with a full luggage cart into a tiny barely 5ft wide elevator and basically forced us out to take the stairs instead of her and the guy she had pulling that cart just waiting until guests were not in the elevator. As we were leaving to check out, same deal feom the 3rd floor where us, and another couple, were forced to carry our luggage and walk down the stairs feom the 3rd floor. She was extremely rude to guest and we definitely will not return. The website and pics used are definitely highly misleading!

If you have a small child, do not stay here. This hotel does have a historic charm in a beautiful setting, and the restaurant staff in particular are excellent, despite being short-staffed and over worked. However, the cleaning level was unacceptable and *unsafe.* We entered our room with our 9-month old daughter (who was noted clearly on our reservation) to find bright pink broken glass on the floor of the doorless bathroom closet, in plain view. It's impossible to imagine how this could have been missed by any cleaners who were given enough time and support to do the job right. The staff person at the front was friendly and helpful, and found us a broom and dust pan, but she was clearly the only person working during a busy Saturday night shift on a prime fall-color weekend next to a busy state park. In short, this establishment is not investing the necessary resources nor supporting the necessary staffing to create a safe and accomodating respite for families. If you are willing to pay top dollar for basic accommodation in a beautiful location, maybe it's worth it for you. But if you have family safety in mind or are expecting an actual 3-star hotel experience, look elsewhere.

This is a historic hotel so the rooms are a bit rustic. They are comfortable and clean and we have stayed here 3 times. The restaurant has limited hours so make sure you have meal options planned. We will definitely be back.

Stayed in room 314. Flushed 35+ stink bugs down the toil. Room filthy, marks on the tops, wrappers and food behind the nightstand, dust on bedstead and skirting boards, paint peeling off the walls. Reception staff said they were full and refused to move us to a suitable room. The place was virtually empty (14th Oct 2025). Their attitude was ignorant and arrogant. 35+ stink bugs in your room and you think that is acceptable as a product? Short of staff in the bar and restaurant. Nothing cleared away. Please come back with your best excuses and we can get into the truth of how this hotel operates.

I was looking forward to staying at this hotel based on pictures on the internet which depicted it as a luxury hotel. To my great disappointment after getting into our room, the room smelled musty like it had been vacant for a while. The AC had not been turned on to freshen the air in the room, the bed skirts was halfway under the mattress, no exhaust fan for the toilet area, dirty hand prints on the bathroom door and tiles looked dirty, big hope in hand towel and worst of all stink bugs started infested the room from the window. We killed about 20 but they kept crawling over the curtains. I called the front desk and was told they could not kill them as they are environmentally protected which is untrue. These bugs in Natural Bridge are considered a pest which can be captured by traps or pesticides for riddance. I never saw a housekeeper during my stay and the staff I did see were dress unidentifiable as hotel staff (street clothes) and were not welcoming except for the staff in the restaurant. They were very accommodating and friendly. In general, the hotel was very dated and some very minor adjustments could have enhanced its appearance such as cleaning windows and scraping paint around window panes, replacing burned out light bulbs and better lighting in the stairwell. A hotel should be a haven during vacation instead my stay at this hotel was less than desirable.

This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in! The hallways and rooms smelled musty and moldy. Our room was infested with stink bugs and they refused to do anything stating it was an environmentally friendly hotel. All of the towels in our room were damp before we even used them. The whole experience was like an episode of the twilight zone! DO NOT STAY HERE!

My room was invested with stink bugs. Room was dirty and paint was peeling off. Called front desk to get another room but was told there was not another room available. The lady I spoke to was not professional (attitude problem). I went down to the front desk and then was given another room. Also the elevator was broken. Would never return.

Positive: "" Negative: The hotel room was old and outdated. There are cracks in the walls, mold and mildew on the floor and walls. Customer service was minimal at best. I’ve gave never written a poor review before but this one was necessary.

The room was nice, clean, and had everything we needed. The little shop in the lobby was fairly priced for snacks and drinks. The lobby and restaurant area were very warm and there is only one elevator which is very slow. They could repaint and update the hallways and elevator. We didn’t eat breakfast after seeing the reviews. I think a free continental breakfast would be much nicer than a buffet style. There’s not much to do in the area besides the natural bridge.

Pulled up at night and it was so beautiful. Excited to see the historic charm when I walked in the beautiful floors looked like they haven’t been washed in years and the woman at the front desk was less than charming (long black hair with gray in it) not a hello , not a welcome, very taken back since the people in the south are suppose to be sweet. Our room wasn’t so bad , comfy beds , and clean ( not clean, clean) but I’ve seen worse. The unfortunate part is they took the character and charm out of the room. It would have been so nice to walk in and see the room in its original period decor. Bring your own shower towels, wash rags , soap , etc. don’t expect water pressure in the showers.
