Had my starter and fuel pump go bad on my 83’ Suburban leaving both me and my girlfriend stranded while driving north for my next duty station, the people here helped turn what would be a disaster into a very pleasant experience they were able to not only tow but then replace my starter and fuel pump for a VERY good price. I would recommend this company and their services to any and everyone in the area.
I'm sorry but this shop does not deserve 4.8 stars. They had my car for a month and half. Had to order a PCM for my car 3 separate times because it kept coming damaged apparently. That's w.e idc About all that. But I paid $130 for them to do the test to tell me what was wrong with my car. It was the PCM and it cost me 750 to buy that part through them. So that and the test and labor put me around $1000 already. Talked to them over the phone for over a month and not once did they inform me that coming in to get my car that they finally finished would cost me $700 more for them to install and program the PCM. if they would of informed of that fine but they never did. I feel as if this place took complete advantage of my patience and kindness with them. Now I just pray they actually did their job right and my car stays running. This place keeps information hidden from you and my experience very unreliable. Do not recommend.
My alternator went out on my way to Roanoke. I live 50 miles away that they got my car in and worked on it and got done the same day. Just a couple hours amazing service.
Needed to get a Virginia State Safety Inspection done. This all-star team at A+D Auto Service were able to squeeze me in the same day that I called! Highly recommend! Great crew there. The office folks in front have fun personalities to boot!

I was traveling to Roanoke and looked for shops and I had a good feeling about this one. Even though there were some hiccups with the repair situation, I know enough about car repairs to know that they treated me more than fairly and they were super honest with their communication at all points. Highly recommend!
We were from out of town, and our car wouldn't start. We jumped-started it and drove it to Affordable and Dependable, and they diagnosed a bad battery and replaced it. They were friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend them.
Three hours into our 8-hour trip, my water pump went out and we were stranded on the side of I-81. A quick Google search led me to Affordable and Dependable Auto Services, and I’m so glad it did.
The owner promised to take care of us—and he did. Jason came quickly to pick up my mom and three kids, getting them safely off the highway, and the tow truck came shortly after for me and the car. Everyone was kind and professional, and the tow driver even managed to keep us laughing.
Jason promised same-day repair, and in just about an hour I had a new water pump and we were back on the road. Honest, fast, and fairly priced—I’d recommend them to anyone in the area.

They do allow you to bring in your own parts if you want to save a little that way as well. The staff is friendly, and goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Highly recommend if you are in need of maintenance. You don't find auto shops like these very often anymore.
I could not be more grateful for the great service I received at Affordable and Dependable Auto Service! I mistakenly decided to put diesel in my engine and my car quickly sputtered out. After being towed to Affordable and Dependable by AAA, I was granted an extremely quick and gracious turnaround on a Friday afternoon, in order to have my car available to drive 8 hours home the next day. My car broke down just outside of Roanoke, and AAA towed me here. I couldn't be more delighted with the customer service, mechanical expertise and reasonable pricing. Jenny is a gem. She put up with my anxious inquiries very patiently. The mechanics were able to isolate a difficult to diagnose electrical problem and got me back on the road in two days. I'm very grateful AAA towed me to this shop.
We are absolutely grateful for the expertise and dependability they offer went in for an inspection and learned we have a few things needing fixed Asap. This vehicle drives our child around. For us it’s not just about getting it fixed cheap it’s about dependability and that they are! My husband and I broke down on 81. We were towed to Affordable in Roanoke—300 miles from home. They couldn’t have been more helpful—drove us to rental car office and assured us our car would be repaired by late morning the next day. True to their word, we were on the road by noon. No problems. My husband and I felt confident we were given a fair price and repairs were done well. I appreciated their honesty and good service.

Wonderful people to work with. My engine blew up and they bought my car for a fair price, even came and picked it up for me! I was experiencing car trouble and dropped my car off last-minute on a Friday without an appointment. The lot was full and I could tell they were really busy. Jenny was super nice and got my car worked in, and was transparent about the fact it might not be done until early the next week. Everyone I spoke to was super knowledgeable and nice. They gave me a thorough explanation of my car issue and an estimate before doing any work. Loved the communication and great service from everyone at A&D! Will definitely be back.
Husband bought a truck that needed some work and get an inspection. Truck was in the shop for a week or so and upon receiving the truck back my husband discovered that the mechanic broke the valve cover when replacing the valve cover gasket and tried to hide it- did a bad job at that and when we showed back up to confront them the mechanic that worked on the truck he didn't seem surprised at all that we discovered it. We took it in on a Saturday and told us they weren't going to get to it till Monday. Then they "discovered" the control arm was messed up even though my husband told them originally when making the appointment that he was pretty sure that needed replaced. So they offered to replace that at cost and it would take half a day but we didn't get a call until about 30 minuets before closing on day 2 of having the truck. Then we discovered the first day of having rain since getting our truck back that the windshield wipers they called us and told us we HAD to replace to pass inspection were never even replaced so that ended up being ANOTHER trip almost an hour away. Also our parking break we asked to be fixed didn't get fixed because somehow mechanics can't figure out how to fix it and the tag light was just wrapped in tape and shoved in the hole which then fell out on our first drive. Fluids were also not topped off that we paid for. Extremely dissapointed in the work when we paid almost $3,000. Lady working the desk was really nice but I wouldn't trust the mechanics. We were told that we would get a call from the owner yesterday about this all but didn't even get this.
I travel a lot for work so I'm away from my vehicle for long periods of time, so I was in a bind when my vehicle inspection was due. I just moved to Roanoke and I only had Saturdays to try and get my new sticker and was already a week past due.
I called around everywhere and it was either "We are booked up for today. Try again on Monday" or "We don't have an inspection guy on the weekends." I did not get this answer here.
They are an old-school, small town mechanics shop. Just like the place my dad worked at for years. The kind of place that you come to more than once or twice and they know your name. It is NOT a big box chain store.
They said they could get to it sometime after 2 pm. It was around noon, so I'd have to wait. Not ideal, but at least they could get it done. Instead, they bumped my car up the line. That's the only thing I can think of because they were done by 1:15 pm. It really saved me. I was able to get my sticker, didn't waste half the day, and they were very pleasant folks.
I saw several random (to me) people come in and I could tell from the interactions that, like I said above, they were a very friendly and familiar ones. This place feels like a throw back to a time when the city was smaller and more intimate. It was quite nice, at least for me.
My car broke down on the interstate and everyone I called wanted a very high fee. I found this business on Google and called them. The woman who answered the phone had the best customer service. She was so nice! They got my car and took it where I asked with zero issues and very quick service. The driver called and was so friendly and informative on how to submit it to my insurance. He was very very nice. This company must know how stressful n upsetting it is when your car breaks down as they don’t add to the stress but actually made it a very pleasant experience and a very reasonable price! I’m grateful for them and will be telling everyone to use them!!!!
Great service. Volvo broke down in Salem, VA…called a 3-letter service my boss recommended… that service was sending a tow and recommended A&D as a garage to take my car to. Called A&D and set it up. Tow turned out wasn’t coming for hours. Called A&D again because I saw they also had towing. Brian picked me up in 20minutes… told me about great pizza and bagel places in the area while on the way… this was around 4:30p so they’d get to fixing my car the next day… had it fixed and repaired… also identified an issue I knew about and was set to take up with my mechanic… pricing was reasonable and a little less than what a quick search on RepairPal said it would cost… they were all friendly and service was great… picked up my car the next day. Immediately dumped the 3-letter service and will use them if I ever again have issues in the Roanoke area.
Great people. A client was broken down on I-81, and they towed the vehicle back to the shop, made the repair, and the car was back on the road within a few hours.

I had a mishap with my work vehicle during the last snow storm and managed to slide off my steep, iced-up driveway. I gave A&D a call to recover the car which I thought would just require a some winching. Charles dispatched a truck to my house within an hour and had me ready to get back to work without interruption. Talking the "recovery" process over with the truck driver, we both agreed winching would likely do the job, but for safety he took much more initiative (used his wheel lift) to make sure my car wouldn't get damaged and everyone was safe.

Great service !! The name of your company truly suits the service you provide. You came right out to tow our vehicle with a fast response time. Although your shop was very busy at the time, you got back the next day with your estimate, and completed the repair the next day. Very honest pricing you are a very sincere person thank you Charles. I will refer all my friends and family as you are unlike most other places I've been to in the past for repairs.
Had my vehicle towed to their shop because of no start issues. I asked them to replace my starter with the one I had because that's what I initially thought it was. After the new starter didn't fix it, they started diagnostics to find out my issue. Come to find out it was in a replacement battery terminal I used one month after buying truck. They kept me informed as they worked on it and eventually repaired. Thank you Charles and your guys who worked on it for getting truck up and going.
