I’ve used freedom towing twice this month through my AAA for a flat tire and lockout. They were fast. Friendly. And professional. I recommend their service for any roadside assistance needs.
I called them on Wednesday because my car would not start and needed jumped. Lady said she'd call when someone was on the way. I waited and waited. Thursday morning I called back and the receptionist said they'd try to get someone out around 10AM, but was not apologetic either. At around 2pm, I ended up calling Coles roadside, who arrived within 40 minutes. It is now Sunday 4 days later and no one has ever called. Highly recommend going elsewhere.
I had gotten my car towed the 31st of January 2026 and my experience with the company was awful…..i had talked to my tow truck driver and double checked I didn’t have to meet him at the dealer ship where he was dropping my car off….he informed me he will fill out a Dropbox ticket and put my information down….Monday comes around I hear nothing from my dealership so I call apparently my driver left none of my information and just dumped my car there…..and when I went to the dealer to sort that out I went and grabbed a few things I had left in my car and saw the state the inside of my car was….If I’m entrusting you with my I best be damned the inside of my car should not be covered in mud and dirt….
“Alvin G. Is on the way!” Boy was I relieved to see that message come through on my phone. I was stranded on interstate 64…two flat tires…dark and everyone speeding by me without a care. I am grateful for Alvin’s swift rescue and support. It was snowing hard, I felt safe in the blizzard like snow event. He was very professional and cautious as towed me and my vehicle safely :-) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
With the help of AAA and Freedom, it was an easy process to replace my dead battery. Josh did an excellent job replacing my battery. He was courteous, efficient and kept me well informed on his time of arrival from Newport News to Williamsburg. I highly recommend their services.
I am sharing this review to warn others about my experience with this towing company.
On October 18th, 2025 my vehicle was incorrectly loaded onto a tow truck and sustained significant damage to the hood. After I asked for resolution, I was repeatedly given false assurances and unfulfilled promises that the damage would be assessed and repaired. When I visited the location to follow up, the person in charge named Nicole promised to handle it but later offered only $450 to cover the hood and labor an unacceptable amount for the damage.
During the tow, the driver identified as Alvin M. made explicit, sexually inappropriate comments to me while I was inside the truck. I felt intimidated and unsafe; I complied with his instruction to reverse my vehicle off the truck because my phone was dead and I was exhausted after waiting three hours for service. I reported the damage and the driver’s conduct to the company the next morning and was told someone would assess the vehicle, but no one ever contacted me. Since October 18th, 2025 I have been given repeated excuses and delays.
I would prefer to resolve this without legal action, but because the company has not addressed the damage or the harassment, I am pursuing other remedies. I share this so others in the community are aware: my vehicle was damaged, my concerns were dismissed, and I was subjected to sexual harassment by an employee.
Was stuck in the packing lot, 32 degrees outside said they would be there 6:10 am I paid them then at 6:30 am I call and she said they wouldn't be able to do anything till after 9 am. So at 9:20 am I call back and nobody will answer the phone and it's now 11:23 am.
Called to let me know when they would arrive showed up on time very friendly very professional not only charged my battery, but also made sure that my battery was still good. Josh did a great job. I was really happy.
Just had my van towed. Christopher was the tow driver. Very respectable, friendly and good appropriate conversation. He reassured me that the auto repair shop where my van is being towed to provides high-quality service. He arrived as scheduled. KUDOS, CHRISTOPHER!!
My car decided that it was not going to start and I had at least a 5 hour drive ahead of me. I placed a service request for AAA via the app and was assigned Freedom Towing. Robyn called and explained that there was a slight delay with my technician coming to my location, but it was fine with me as I was safe. When Jon G. arrived he helped me immediately! He was professional and super friendly and knowledgeable. I am grateful for Freedom Towing!
I was stuck on the side of the busy interstate the night before a holiday. Was originally quoted 30 minutes, but I sat their alone for 3 hrs! Once the guy finally he was quite rude, he got right to work, but was very rude! I would NOT recommend them!
My daughter's car battery was dead. Called AAA and they sent Freedom Towing out to help. Shawn (sp) was very helpful. I appreciated the way he explained what he was going to do, and afterwards explained the results of the battery test he did. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you!
Shoutout to AAA and Freedom Towing and Recovery (in Newport News) for responding to our car issue this morning. We thought (and hoped) that it was just a dead battery. AAA identified Freedom Towing as the service provider and shortly after,. Charles from Freedom called and said Ben Jones was on his way to check the battery. Ben showed up, determined the battery was dead (in all fairness, the battery was installed in 2018) and fortunately had one that he could install. Within minutes, the car started and was just fine. Can't thank Ben, Freedom Towing and Recovery, and of course AAA for taking good care of us.
Neighbor stole spare key to car & copied it. Sits in car Friday & Saturday nights playing radio past two weekends. Sunday when I got in to go to church radio on and battery too far gone to start car. Called AAA and they sent Freedom Towing to jump start battery. After motor going young man warned me to keep motor running for 30 to 45 minutes to be sure battery properly charged. He watched while I ran back in house to get purse. This is what I call super Service!
Freedom Towing deserves TEN stars, not just five! (Seriously.) Their driver Chris showed up so fast I hardly had time to blink. That was great of course, but the IMPRESSIVE part was that Chris was able to back my van directly into one of the bays at the mechanic’s shop. The employees at shop didn’t think he could do it (because backing up in a very full and busy parking lot isn’t easy) but he backed it in like it was CHILD’S PLAY. Chris was fully professional and very patient while I obtained permission from the shop it to be backed straight into a bay. SUPER EXPERIENCE!!!
B. Jones responded to our call for help, a dead battery. He was there within 10 minutes and after checking out our car’s battery, replaced it with a new one and within 40 minutes, we were on our way home. Mr Jones was friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. Thanks so much!

I just got my truck towed and John was fantastic. The service took a little while but you never know how many calls they have so that's understandable. He was very friendly and made the experience a lot less stressful.
Our Jeeps battery was dead.( towing behind motorhome) Called AAA and they sent Freedom Towing out. The office called to let me know they received the call from AAA and a driver would be there in about 45 mins. As luck would have it he was not far away on another call. It was about 20 mins. Very nice young man and professional.
Called AAA for towing and RONALD from Freedom Towing and Recovery, Newport News, VA arrived at the time promised by AAA. It was a great pleasure to have Ronald assist me with my car. He was so kind, and he has good vibes; nice smile, very polite, and very pleasant looking. I hope I get to see him again the next time I a tow! Thank you , Ronald.

DeShawn was my tow truck driver and he was amazing patient kind and communicative. I used freedom towing before, and I would recommend them to anybody!! They’re super fast and all of the technicians and drivers I have dealt with have been professional kind patient people.
This company is the worst! On June 29, our vehicle was hit from behind by a freedom towing vehicle. The police were called, there were no injuries, a report was not filed. We exchanged phone numbers and insurance information. After leaving the scene the driver texted us openly admitting that he was not paying attention as he was on his tablet. We had been stopped for several seconds. Additionally, the driver wanted us to settle this outside of insurance which was declined. The driver gave us false information and is refusing to return calls or answer insurance. This resulted in us being responsible for filing under our insurance and paying the deductible. We have reached out to Freedom Towing several times requesting to speak to a supervisor and have been told they will call us back. We have yet to receive a call back. Freedom needs to take responsibility for the acts that their dishonest employees perform. This is completely unacceptable.
My van broke down in front of my house (Thank God!). Called AAA & they called Freedom to pick up the van and deliver it to the dealership. Lamar showed up "on time" (he had called me beforehand with a time), did a quick survey of the van and found that the shifter cable had broken off of the transmission. He was polite, professional & VERY helpful. Excellent Service!!!
I contacted AAA for car lockout assistance. Josh and another gentleman (who was lovely but I didn't get his name), reached out to me immediately and, even over the phone, sounded incredibly pleasant and kind. They arrived to my location in less than 10 minutes and had me back in my car so quickly. Both gentlemen were so genuinely kind and kept me laughing even after being upset over my car. Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. :)
My first interaction with Freedom Towing was with Justice, who answered my panicked call at 8am, and I instantly knew I had called the right place. I have never had to call a tow truck before, and my car was on the side of 64 - I had no clue what to do. I did a quick google search and picked the location nearest me with good reviews. Justice answered right away and was extremely patient with me throughout the entire phone call, knowledgeable, and proficient at her job. She answered all of my questions right away and quickly assigned me a tow driver to be there in 45 minutes. The driver who arrived was professional and promptly loaded my car up and safely got me to where I needed to be. Thank you so much for the seamless resolution of the horrible start to my Thursday morning.
