Went here a lot bought a lot items here because it is close to my house. And i been a long time costumer ,But time and time I go here they don't know what they are doing .I ask for a upper ball joint didn't know the vehicle don't have a press out ball joint , if they looked it up they should see that but he said he seen one but my make and model doesn't have a press out ball joint.But when I pick it up they couldn't find it and find out they gave me someone else's order when he called .I had to take it back anyway, then he said i don't get the shipping back on something they should have seen on the computer, or know . So he keep getting rude with me and keep repeating his self ,saying it's my fault I ordered the wrong part so I keep saying over over over over ,,,,,,,, ok can i get some of my money back then he went back to it I'm just trying to tell you it's no ill fault you ordered the wrong part and we do know what we are doing ,I keep saying ok ok can I get some of my money back 15 mins later after I start to get really hot he finally stopped acting like a man child and gave me some of my money back . Then the other guy said neither one of you'll are wrong because he seen chevy trucks upper ball joints press on and some you have to get the whole arm ,while coming to a auto shop they look up the make and model they can't see that or they so stupid they don't know what they looking at.Even they can't see that on the computer back in the day they would tell you this stuff ,because they know what they was doing. I went there one time to get gear oil i told him the make and model he said only need quart and find out I needed 2 quarts and 4oz ,many times I went there I have so many problems, but I try to be the nice guy and keep coming back . But he gave my somebody's else order for one but they know what they doing. I was just trying to leave and Chris he said he's the manager on main st. at alvisita keep getting rude ,keep repeating his self, I don't know what was wrong with this guy put beware sometimes not always this guy can be a big childish man . I will never step foot in another advance auto parts store in my life after I was treated like that ,I said time and time can I just get some of my money back and he keep getting rude saying they know what they doing here ,it's my fault, will ok can I get my money this guy is terrible.,I'm just trying to help people so they will not get treated like i got treated, go to O'Reilly be side that they are more nicer people and they seem like they know what they doing .
This was at the Advance Auto in Altavista, VA. The employees changed my battery for me and it seemed quite complicated to me, but they did it quickly and efficiently! I appreciate their hard work!
It’s been a few weeks, but my wife and I were driving back into New England and we had some rain on 11/10/24. I called the store along the way and spoke with Chris B. and I asked if he could grab me windshield wipers prior to my arrival which he did and installed them for me without asking in the rain.

Needed back brakes for my 2013 Chevrolet impala. Instead of getting back breaks I was given front brakes. Went to Altavista to exchange the breaks and the manager is sitting in her car and told my husband and me that they closed at 7pm when the sign on the door says 8pm and online also says 8pm. She the manager says I know. We then tell her the sign needs to be updated. Will be calling and filing a complaint with the district manager.
Top notch customer service! Wally was patient, understanding and actually listened to my problem. Long story short— I had a issue and Wally made it right. This type of leadership will continue to make the Altavista advance auto successful. I’m Very satisfied and highly recommend them.
I waited and waited (they were constantly on the phone) to pick up a part that I had ordered and already paid for. I finally went next door to O'Reilly. They had everything I needed (in stock), cheaper and faster. Going back to Advance to get my refund later. I wonder how long will that take me?
Tip for auto parts store hire employees that have some knowledge of automotive. When up have to go in and find your own parts cause they have no idea. It was simple brake line.
Purchased brake parts at a location in NC, confirned the parts were under warranty, and came to this location .Upon arriving the manager on duty assisted me personally while a person from the other storr seeker unwilling to assist both the manager and myself in the return of the items . The manager took care of the issue so I did not have to remain at the location while the other store failed to assist us .
Ive frequented this place many times and usually have a decent experience. However this last visit was not so much. My mother and I went by for a diagnostic check and was dismissed and told to look online. I can understand if it was a bad day for him but that doesn't excuse bad manners
Had a spark plug blow out on my 5.4L Triton engine (which I now know is a common occurrence for this engine) on the evening of Saturday, May 27, 2017. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable going well beyond what would be expected.
