We stayed two nights at the Southern Gap campground and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The campground was peaceful, and the bathhouse was incredibly clean and well maintained—one of the best we've come across!
The trail system was a huge highlight: clearly marked, well maintained, and easy to navigate. We rented a UTV from Haysi Outdoor and couldn’t have been more pleased with the rental and the trails. To top it all off, we were even lucky enough to see elk during our stay—which was such an amazing and unexpected experience!
One thing to note: if you're coming from Tennessee with an RV, be sure to call Southern Gap ahead of time for driving directions. Our GPS took us down a road that was definitely not RV-friendly, and unfortunately, we ended up damaging our awning. A quick call can save you the same trouble!
All in all, we had a great time and would absolutely recommend Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
One of the best ATV trail systems I've ever been to. The camping and cabins are nice, and they have a big shower and bathroom building that is always kept clean. The trails can be a bit rough, but there's a variety of terrain from high-speed gravel roads to steep hill climbs and everything in between.
We do catering for events here & it is a beautiful place! The sunsets & the views are gorgeous! Many times the elk can be seen walking around grazing.... It is an amazing place for a wedding!
Gorgeous place to visit, great views, the venue building beautiful, bath houses were clean, camper spots had plenty of room, and right next to multiple trails, saw plenty of elk and deer
Spent the weekend camping with my oldest daughter in a tent. We had the best time at Southern Gap. Loved the camping area and really loved that it was a secluded area. The staff are truly Awesome and got to meet Bailey who’s new in the office she was great. In the three years I’ve been coming up to Southern Gap for Elk projects I’ve never had a bad experience Paige and Billy Campbell have a great place there and I intend to go back and camp there again.
This is a great place to stay and enjoy the great outdoors. The cabins are spacious and clean with all the comforts of home and the camp sites have all the hookups and a very clean bathhouse/restroom. The employees are very customer driven and knowledgeable regarding the trails and surrounding areas. Beautiful scenery is plentiful and I was lucky enough to see some elk up close. I will definitely return as soon as possible. Thanks to all at Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure for a wonderful time!!!!
I tell you the Manager Christie was so awesome with us had one of the best Christmas with the family here cole country so beautiful the people are so nice I mean I’ve bin through some things in other places so I came in thinking the worst expecting the worst and I left humbled god knows I’m not perfect but I left a different man this place is life changing so beautiful I can’t say that enough because it doesn’t do it any justices like said I’ve bin throw some messed up places and I brought that with me left a humbled man thank you for the experience wishing y’all success not that it would be hard ??????????????????????????????

We visited Southern Gap Outdoor Adv. in October 2019,the staff was friendly and courteous.
We rented a 4 seater ATV and rode for a couple hours. Trials are clearly marked.
We also met Trial Ranger Mr. Roger Street who was very helpful and courteous. My wife,grandson,and myself would like to thank the staff and Ranger Street for a great experience.
Great campground layout and cabins with fantastic panoramic views of area. Saw elk , deer and strutting gobblers just a short walk/drive from the campground. Nice viewing shelters at several locations along trail. Bring the kids! Lots of outdoor adventures to do.
This place far exceeded our expectations. The staff was very personal and laid back. Entire rental process was quick and easy. The machine was Great and the trails were Awesome! Well marked without making me feel hearded. There was lots of different terrain to experience. My wife and I loved every minute of this experience. We did not stay here but did look around after our ride and the place looks to be growing quickly.
Very nice and clean cabins the beds and pillows were comfortable. The water pressure and supply of hot water was good. Amazing views, the rocking chairs on the front porch was very relaxing drinking coffee in the morning and nice to watch stars at night. Clean nice bath house friendly and helpful staff ! Best scenic trails on the canyon trails would be a excellent place to take the wife or girlfriend that's not into just another trail ride . Most of those trails are green . Mixed terrain of woods and hill climbs that will excite most riders are on the other side ! We seen 5 Elk ! One of My favorite ride spots!
We enjoyed our visit to the cozy, adorable cabins. The beautiful views of the mountains and the elk took your breath away. The light snow on Christmas was the best! Can't wait to come back.
The cottage was super nice; they were clean and comfortable. There was a great porch for sitting outside. On it, we were able to watch a heavy rain storm pass through. We spent most of our time outside. There are miles of well maintained and marked ATV trails on the site, and, while best explored by ATV, they can also be hiked, biked, or run. When lounging in the cabin, we were super comfortable -- there's AC but we mostly kept the windows open and ceiling fan running. Also, there was great wifi service and tv. The kitchenette was great, too. Looking forward to coming back again.
