Beyond Happy!
My husband and I found the most beautiful hutch at Evolution Home! This beauty had been there for a while to our benefit because it was marked down to $420!!! This is a Dick Idol piece that can retail up to 2k!
We opted for the delivery and it was so worth it. The gentlemen that delivered it were so gentle not only with the hutch but also our home and laid protective coverings on our wood floors!
I will be back for more treasures.Jan 28, 2026 -
Not sure if they are knowingly selling overpriced dupes / fake vintage / etc. pieces or if they’re just not doing any sort of thorough verification of theirs or their vendor’s items—either way, you’ll definitely want to Google any items you’re considering buying from here. Also other reviews suggest that they’re being dodgy and dishonest in paying their vendors what they’re due, and I thought that was worth highlighting.

Short version: Evolution Home says they do “thorough due diligence” on consignment items, but both the consignment area of the store and the vendor booths contain deceptively advertised items for astronomical prices that you can buy elsewhere for 10-30% of the price. If you discover that something you bought was deceptively advertised you’ll be out of luck since they don’t accept returns, so be sure to do your own THOROUGH due diligence before buying anything over $30 (which is basically everything here).
Long version:
I recently purchased a painting in the consignment section of Evolution Home (not one of the dealer/vendor booths). The painting came with a short artist’s biography describing the artist who signed the painting - their name, birth year, etc. After researching the “artist,” I discovered that they are not a real person, the signature was a made-up name, and the artist’s bio was fake and entirely made up. The painting was marked as an “original painting” but is actually mass-produced. I found other copies of the painting being sold online for around $20-$50. Evolution Home listed the painting for over $400.
Selling a painting with a fake signature isn’t necessarily unusual, but going to the length of including an entirely made-up artist’s biography to try and give the (fraudulent) impression that this is a unique, original painting by an amateur or hobbyist painter rather than an assembly line painting is extremely dishonest. The only purpose of this is to deceive buyers into paying more for what they think is original art. Buyers should expect to do some level of assessment (e.g. is this actually a real painting or just a print with texture on it?), but the seller including full-on fabricated info with an art piece is unnecessarily deceptive.
Here is a quote from Evolution Home responding to a different negative review: “Prices for consigned furniture and home decor are set at the time of processing based on a thorough due diligence process.” This either means that 1. Evolution Home isn’t actually conducting “thorough due diligence” on their items, and therefore they may accidentally sell you fraudulent items, or 2. They do conduct their due diligence, know an item is fraudulent, and choose to sell it to you anyway at an inappropriately high price. Based on other reviews it seems this is also the case for some of the vendors at Evolution Home in addition to the consignment area.
This was an incredibly disappointing and disheartening experience and I’m hoping this information prevents someone else from being similarly deceived.Jan 06, 2026 -
Please don't consign here. I consigned my sofa here which they graciously accepted in August. I did receive any update on my sofa until I went into the store in October to be told it sold in September. I asked when I would receive payment and Mark informed me he didn't know sometime in December. Susan and Dorkis who run the consignment portion of the business are scammers. I called on December 30 asking about eta of payment and the sales associate did not want to provide me that nor did she want to provide me the name of whom could assist me with my payment. Old Town Alexandria has numerous consignment stores that do better business, please do not consign here unless you desire to just donate your items.

The issue I have with this shop is that they do not follow their own policies about paying consignors. It's great to buy used rather than new to save money and to help the environment, but due to their continued delays and frequent rule changes for paying consignors, I will not consign there again. I suspect that because of this their business model will fail.

Spacious and well organized.
Staff are very helpful.
⬆Prices are a bit higher than typical vintage shops.Nov 23, 2025 -
Please help me understand. Why would a business blatantly lie and deceive people? Initially, they were friendly, appreciative, and eager to receive our consignment. However, now that our consignment contract has expired and we’re owed money from sales of our items, they’ve become unresponsive, rude, dishonest, and uncommunicative.
Our contract ended on July 31st, and as per the contract terms, we picked up unsold items on July 29th, “before the end of your contract.” We’ve been calling and emailing them since September, but they’ve given us different answers each time we’ve phoned and haven’t responded to emails. They’ve said, “The owner will call you back.” “Did you read the contract terms? It says you’ll be paid 90 days after the contract ends.” “We have new accountants. They’ll contact you about payment.” “Check your SPAM folder. We probably emailed you and didn’t hear where your payment should be sent.”
Our contract reads, “Checks are sent 1 month AFTER your expiration date.” In our case, that was one month after July 31st, or August 31st. Thankfully, the loss won’t bankrupt us, but business practices like this will result in bad karma for them. We plan to report them to the appropriate authorities and hope others will do the same. Shame on you, Evolution Home. At this point any excuse is impossible to understand.Nov 16, 2025 -
Good fine- morning?! to sir or ma’am. I also feel that from $490 upscale-consignment (bouegioa spelling?!) mark down to $395+6% sales tax— was superb and marvelous that I had just noticed on a Wednesday afternoon approximately 17:53:00hrs…..secondhand – – was considerably wonderful that it was at the secondhand-rate sporadic seasonal markdowns from 30th Jul 2025 to current one. Abysmal and profusely gloomy and aye regret not adding the personal veriphone/SQUARE phone receipt from 20th OCTOBER, H is just disclosing that the first tall salesman cashier, who had offered to help and took it out to my own private dolly weighing 7.20 kilos?!, was especially kind in representative of evolution, home LLC and its’ affiliates… However, the actual guy once I move the car back who’s probably the owner had dinged it up so bad I could’ve carried the 200 pounds reaching up furniture into a 30 width door, by myself. The pros is they have super unique SOUK kind of Arabian/Mesopotamian, antiques and carpet, rugs, but I do not appreciate the cons of this evolution home LLC, as the previous guider had mentioned… They are very conceited, inhumanely obtuse, demeaning, condescending.”

Beware consigning items with this vendor. I have not received payment for items they sold months ago, and when I called I was told they couldn't tell me when payment would be made.

We’ve both consigned with and shopped here, and while we’ve had good experiences in the past, things have definitely gone downhill. The shopping space is neat and well organized, but the overall experience feels lacking. The consignment process, in particular, leaves much to be desired — communication is minimal, emails go unanswered, and it’s unclear when payments will be issued. I’ve had far better luck with Facebook Marketplace. Unfortunately, I likely won’t consign here again.

Don't consign here you will never get paid!! Stuff sold over 4 months ago still waiting and when you call to inquire they hang up on you....

New floor manager is a poor fit. My wife and I have been customers way back to your previous location and have spent many thousands at your store. We were browsing separately and, after making our purchases, later agreed that we no longer enjoy your store. Please let us know if, and when, he leaves.

I’m all for supporting a local business. But behavior like this leaves a bad taste in my mouth, particularly the markup. And, it’s sloppy! See attached photos for 60$ bookends I saw here that were originally purchased for 9.99 (or less with color tag discounts!)

What a great mix from 30 dealers of all types. American, Japanese, Chinese, European and many other places

Never EVER co-sign your items here. PLEASE REVIEWS FROM OTHERS. You’re better off listing on Facebook Marketplace especially if you have furniture AND you keep 100% off profits versus 50% of whatever Home Evolution gives you. Long story short— it took nearly 4 months to get paid out AFTER the initial 3 months of having co-signed. And the only reason they paid was because I had to constantly call and follow up. Their accounting team SUCKS at returning calls. Their excuse was their system was “down” which is why they missed payment but it wasn’t just for myself it was also for items my mom co-signed, who also had two separate appointments. Meaning THREE checks weren’t paid off. I finally got my check after pestering them and my mom only got 1 check— never got the second. Absolutely horrendous experience.

Never do business with this shop. Never place an item on consignment. I did so with almost $3000 in value of two nightstands and they not only sold both for around $600 but it has been 4 months and I have yet to receive my half of the payment. I was promised it several times and am yet to receive it. So if you do not want total frustration with minimal benefits then do not do business with this establishment.

I like the store itself but this review is based on my experience consigning an item to the store. My item sold on August 10, 2024. After repeated email inquiries, I finally received payment on January 24, 2024. They claimed to be having "processing issues." If you are expecting to be paid in a reasonable period of time, do not consign items to this location. Other consignment shops I have worked with pay at the end of the month following the sale of the item. This store's policy allows an inordinate amount of time to pass between sale and payment.

I am giving Evolution Home a second chance. I'm disappointed with what happened to the couch I was following. But I went back to the shop with an eye on another nice sofa that is considerably more. I sat in it and it didn't have the support I was hoping it would have. But alas, there sits another sofa that has an interesting dark greenish blue. We sat on it and it was perfect. We pulled the trigger and bought it immediately. Now I excitedly yet patiently wait to schedule a delivery. I'm excited about this one. I will have to admit that the collections are superb. I have already starting planning to replace more pieces with some of the finds. And I really appreciate the ease to browse around and search in nooks and crannies.

We went to Evolution Home looking for nutcrackers. We were not disappointed. There was a great selection across multiple dealers. Can’t wait to go back to shop for vintage jewelry, and maybe a chair or two. There was also a great selection of furniture, including accent tables, couches, etc. Great place to shop!

Love love Evolution Home! Kind & welcoming staff. Tons of antique and modern decor. It’s rare to find designer modern sofas and antique oil paintings in the same place. Great selection and prices.

I stumbled upon this consignment store by accident. I was going next door. I am glad I found this place. It's an amazing place to find all kinds of vintage antique items. I am only disappointed at the staff. No one greeted me or asked me if I needed help or if I would like some information about how they do their sales, even the men in the back snapped at me when I accidentally walked into the back where it's off limits due to wrong placement of a sign on their behalf. I could feel the stares as I walked around this place. Not ok. I hope they change their ways towards Hispanics.

This is a great consignment store with clean, very good quality furniture and goods. Make sure going into it you know its not a thrift shop, so the feel and expectations of what they're selling is different as they are consignment. The owner or staff there didn't really engage with us either time we've visited and I was considering buying a sectional. If someone had approached me or if I could find someone to answer my questions about it I likely would have purchased. Otherwise it's a great experience and there are a lot of fun finds!

Such a fun place to spend an afternoon! The gigantic space is lovingly curated and maintained, so there is never a shortage of things to look at but you won’t feel overwhelmed or get that “thrift store dirty” feeling. This place is a treasure trove and with Aslin next door, it’s the perfect weekend spot!

Fun place to explore on a rainy day. Loved all the different booths with a variety of antiques, large and small, to look at.

Out of the way in an industrial park with a large inventory of home furnishings. It is a home furnishings consignment store in the middle with antique booths around the sides.

Really like this consignment store. Good quality furniture and home decor items. Many antiques. The new location is not nearly as convenient as the previous location on Richmond highway, which may be a good thing considering how often I frequented, but it is much more spacious and open. I think this may have resulted in a little loss of it's charm but there appears to be more items and it is much easier to see and get around. I like the tiered, by date, pricing system, and if you're patient, and lucky, you can get some good deals. But, if you like something, I wouldn't wait too long...to the bottom pricing tier...because luck may run out if someone else likes it better and is willing to pay the higher tier price. All of the staff are great, but especially Ann and notably Susan. Love to go there and just browse, but often I find something to bring home. Will definitely be back.

Great place to find beautiful decor; This isn’t your basic thrift store. Beautiful vintage items of all sorts and styles to choose from. Very well organized and the staff was very friendly.
