This is quite an impressive covered bridge…which you can still drive through (but not walk through). It’s very long and you can see below that the structure is solid wood! Interesting construction! There’s a parking lot on one end with stairs down to the gravel beach and the river. Beautiful in the fall and not crowded but maybe busy in the summer months (guessing).
We crossed the beautiful covered bridge during our vacation in Vermont, and we enjoyed it very much. From outside of the bridge, there was a heavenly view of rolling, mountainous hills, and the most spectacular river underneath it! We wanted to swim in it, so we parked our car in a small parking space on the side of the road. Parking was very easy because there were only about 2 other families there both times we went. It was very quiet! The water was cool and refreshing, and it had a place for everyone. My youngest son was throwing rocks into the water from land, and my two middle children were wading in the rapids. My eldest was perching on rocks, looking dramatically into the distance, deep in the depths of the river. I would say the river’s deepest point under the covered bridge was about 5 feet, or slightly under. It also had some nice places on the rocky sand where you could place your camp chair down to relax, or you could pop a squat on a big rock. We loved this bridge so much that we went two days in a row. I would definitely recommend going to this covered bridge for a fun family adventure!
The bridge is really cool, never really seen one like that. Caution though only one car at a time going one way. The parking area had plenty of spots and a little set of stairs to go down to beach along the river. The river was nice, I didn't take a dip but Leia did. She wanted to go swimming but I didn't bring the long line. Otherwise there was a child about ten-ish who was jumping around and wading in the water there, probably a great spot for a dip on a hot day! The views from down there are indescribable, and a camera just can't do justice to that majesty!
Cool old bridge over the West River! Single lane, so you have to alternate with cars coming the opposite direction. The bridge has an 11' height restriction and a 20,000 lb weight restriction (August 2025). There is no charge (no fee or toll) to use the bridge.
There is a small parking area at the west end of the bridge. There's a path from the parking area down to the river, where people like to cool off in the many pools. Bring a camp chair and enjoy yourself!
Peaceful and beautiful spot to park and walk to the river bank and marvel at all the area has to offer. The bridge is a token from another time when the world was more in touch with itself and at peace. Love the area. Thank you.
Fascinating to see one of these bridges. I watched the series Aerial America. Last weekend after travelling to Burlington for the eclipse we stopped here on the way back.
Beautiful covered bridge! There is a nice parking area with plenty of space. It was mid afternoon on a Thursday, Sept 28, 2023, and we were the only people there. You can take some rough stone steps down under the bridge and walk around on the river bank.
Second longest covered bridge in Vermont. One can walk all around and even go up river and still die to its size it is hard to capture on photos. Still a must see for everyone. Easy to approach with good parking.
Really neat and Long covered bridge that you can drive through. There is also a parking area where you can then walk down to the river below the bridge. It is also a dog friendly area. I highly recommend!
I am not sure how you review a covered bridge but (a) yes, it is a bridge and (b) true to it's title - it is a covered bridge. All kidding aside. I used to live in Dummerston and love this bridge.
The Bridge is a beautiful structure that captures Vermont's presence. It has a parking area if you want to take pictures, fish, or stop to stretch your legs.

Nice place to take a break while visiting southern VT. Enough parking, the path to the river bed is steep but manageable. The river bed has nice views and a fun place to take a break.
Awesome spot for swimming been going here for years! Crashed my drone into the base of the covered bridge today, went flat up against the brick slid down to the ground and then took off flying again... Thank the Lord!
My mom has never seen a covered bridge and we found this one by chance. It is a one car bridge that still works over a roaring river. So both sides may pass but only one car at time. The detailing on the bridge was just amazing and if you happen to see a covered bridge go in it.
