I sold a car to someone it got towed by their own wrong and everyone we dealt with was super nice. In and out super quick. Sorry for the inconvenience but it wasn't a bad experience at all.

Predatory towing company I can only hope other people don't have to suffer at their hands, Not once have I ever dealt with a company and their employees who are so unwilling to compromise. I am a good person. And when they tow a disabled person's car because they didn't know where to park, that's wrong, my car had my hazards on and was taking my sister food. And they towed my car with hazards on I was there for thirty minutes their actions are deplorable And find it hard to consider That type of business honorable Shame on swift towing

Poor customer service! Who ever answers their phone needs to be friendlier especially since we’re in a tough situation. Hearing someone be so rude while trying to figure out how I’m going to get $390 to pay my car out for parking in a “new resident” parking spot for like 20 mins in a apartment building that barely has any parking spots with a 5 month old and 5 year old isn’t someone I would like to speak to in time of crisis.

Met eminem at the front desk. Slim charged me $400 to get my work truck back. Also my glasses are in the truck.

This is the third time this towing company has taken one of our cars, and each experience has been just as bad, if not worse than the last. Their staff consistently displays a rude, dismissive attitude and makes an already stressful situation far more frustrating than it needs to be. Communication is poor, questions are brushed off or met with ignorance, and it feels like they have no interest in helping customers understand what’s going on. On top of their unprofessional behavior, the fees are excessive and poorly explained. There’s little transparency about charges, and you’re left feeling taken advantage of rather than assisted. Dealing with this company is exhausting and unpleasant, and they show a complete lack of accountability or basic customer service. I would not recommend this towing company to anyone.

Took my wife’s car out of apartment complex they had it for maybe 30 min but somehow it costs 380 dollars to get my car back. Guy on the phone told my wife to call back when she’s ready to talk like an adult when she was just trying to figure out where the car is at. Most shady people ever even the license plates on the truck show how shady this business is.

Towed my car because my parking permit had a small piece of tape on it. Picked it up 6 hours later and they charged over $300. Workers were extremely rude, car looking like it was left in a pile of mud

I’m not sure why my previous review was removed, but I want to document what happened. I was in my service van and had parked for less than two minutes while I was inside the garage unloading equipment and tools. During that very short time, the tow company had already hooked my utility van. I was required to pay a $90 hook fee on the spot to get my van released, and they also demanded verification that the van was mine. The interaction felt unnecessarily difficult and gave the impression they did not want to release the vehicle, despite me being present and actively working. The timing suggests they may have spotters on site. The driver did not check the van to see if anyone was inside the back before hooking it. I have dash cam screenshots that show the timeline. Regarding signage: while the main tow company sign in this Herriman condo complex was readable, approximately 80% of the other signs were heavily faded and difficult or impossible to read. Overall, the situation felt extremely aggressive and unfair.

Honestly, I understand some of the bad reviews. Imagine pulling in somewhere seeing signs that say you can’t park there, and deciding it means everyone EXCEPT you. I spent a year. A solid year. Trying to post signs, multiple signs, in our parking lot. Stopping in the middle of what I was doing to politely tell people it was a private parking lot. Only to have people get a bad attitude or walk off without caring. I had a guy want to try and fight me over the request exactly 2 weeks ago today. I decided that was enough. Swift posted THREE, not one, not two, but THREE, signs in our small business parking lot. We have 9 parking spots in our lease, with 9 people working with us. It is rare for us to all be in at the same day and times. It was not rare for us, or our clients to have to park outside of our parking lot. Our signs were installed yesterday, we have contacted the team twice, in two days. Today we arrived to a full parking lot, within 30 minutes of contacting Swift, our parking lot was cleared for us, and our clients. I’m sure that sucks for the people that ignored the 3 signs installed by Swift, and the 4 signs I installed. 9 parking stalls, SEVEN big bold signs. I’m positive they’ll all say they were towed wrongfully, because they were inconvenienced… without once thinking of the people they, themselves inconvenienced. So five stars all around for fast professional service. I hate the idea of having people towed, I’m working class myself. I watched them take cars away, and they used so much caution on protecting the vehicles towed, and the vehicles surrounding them. So again, I get the bad reviews, but it’s all from people who think they can park wherever they want, because they think they’re more important than everyone else. If you own a business, and are having parking issues. This is your company.

this company is a scam and i hope karma serves them all, they charge me $429.82, i work so hard for that money just pay my rent as a single mother 😭😭 they towed my car bc they said the parking permit wasn’t sticking on the windshield as they can clearly see it fall off and laying right there, but they towed it without any remorse, and i pray God gives them their reward….

If I could give 0 stars I would. This company is very shady and predatory. They hideout and wait for you to leave 10 mins after parking and purposely tow your car in areas that have NO signs stating ”no parking” or red lines. My friends car got towed in Salt Lake even though there was no signs and we got permission from one of the residents we could park next to them. They towed the whole lot, and kept doing so throughout the night. When we finally got ahold of them, Antonio (the fat guy) was rude and all the way in West Valley and said if we were late we’d have extra charges. They’re in a shady area with no lights and hard to find. Once we were there, we explained there was no signs and got permission and even took photos and he was condescending, rude, dismissive and just outright disrespectful. If we pushed back anymore, he wouldn’t have released the car. They charge outrageous fees and expect hundreds of dollars in cash or you get a 3% charge on a card and they threaten you and say they will find you and tow your car from your house if you dispute the charge. They’re a horrible company and absolutely horrible people who have no integrity or empathy. I hope they get sued and shut down and hope the workers there get their karma.

It's in their name. They won't let your car sit more than 20 minutes even in poorly labeled areas. Friends in the area confirmed the same thing. They are not an ethical business and will charge the as much as they possibly can. To the sum of about $400 for us before they even had a chance to drop our car off in their lot. I hope they get that's coming to them. The world doesn't need more of this.

This company got “hired” in our OWNED brand new Hallmark home community , thanks to the lovely HOA. It is so HORRIBLE that after paying over a half a million for a brand new home you can’t even park on the curb of your own driveway of the house you OWN. We OWN our house , it is not a condo , it’s a house, and they are towing in our brand new build community when there is already NO parking, not enough guest parking, leaving no one anywhere to park except alongside the curb which isn’t hurting anyone since there’s no where to park . they pull in and take homeowners cars who are literally parked on a unmarked curb (not obstructing anyone’s way or anything) Horrible predatory company and even worse on HOA STRATEGIES for hiring such an awful Company . STAY AWAY FROM BOTH HOA STRATEGIES , SWIFT TOWING . Also Hallmark homes

Was towed while moving into an apartment. The gentleman on the phone spoke about their driver several times. Come to find out that he was the driver. Even in person he referred to himself as the driver. Same exact voice smh. Definately preditiory and there are ZERO signs nor information in the paperwork about the tow company.

Tow Yard Tyranny: How Predatory Towing and Police Inaction Trap Salt Lake Drivers Salt Lake City, UT — September 21, 2025 In the heart of the Salt Lake Valley, a scandal is unfolding — one that exposes the grip of predatory tow companies and the shocking unwillingness of multiple police agencies to protect the public. On September 20, 2025, Salt Lake City resident Ammon Michael Etherington parked his 2007 Toyota Corolla near a business easement, never imagining that a routine errand would ignite a battle over property rights, police negligence, and the unchecked power of the towing industry. His car was seized by Swift Towing, a company long whispered about for aggressive and questionable practices. But this was no ordinary tow. According to Etherington, the vehicle did not block the gate it was parked beside. The gate opened fully, and pedestrians and vehicles could still pass around it. Under Utah law, an easement is not private property — and towing from one is, by statute, illegal. When Etherington attempted to retrieve his car, he offered to pay the legally required fees. Swift Towing’s response was chilling: “Go ahead and call the police — they can’t do anything. This is just a civil matter.” The company then flatly refused to release the vehicle — even with money in hand. That is a direct violation of Utah’s Nonconsensual Towing Act (§ 72-9-603), which requires release of a vehicle within one hour of payment. Refusal is punishable by fines, license suspension, and potential criminal charges for theft and deception. But when Etherington called for help, the nightmare deepened. The first officers on scene were from West Valley City Police (WVC). Instead of investigating, they echoed Swift’s words, dismissing the crime as “a civil matter.” Later, Salt Lake City Police (SLCPD) also became involved — and again, no meaningful action was taken. Two different police agencies, faced with a clear statutory violation, allowed a private company to hold a citizen’s property hostage. The Civil Matter Lie Legal experts say the claim that this was “just civil” is nonsense. “Refusing to release a vehicle after lawful payment is not civil — it’s theft,” one attorney explained. “Tow companies that hold cars hostage are exercising unauthorized control over private property. That’s a crime.” Etherington says both WVC Police and SLCPD failed in their most basic duty: to uphold the law. “This isn’t just about one car,” he said. “It’s about an industry that feels untouchable, and two police departments that allowed it. If they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone.” A Pattern of Abuse Swift Towing’s reputation is no secret. Locals have long accused the company of circling lots like vultures, waiting to swoop in. But refusing to release a car after payment takes it to another level — one that looks less like business and more like extortion. The fact that two separate police forces declined to act raises chilling questions: Is this simple negligence, or something deeper — a culture of looking the other way while predatory companies profit? Public Outrage Building Calls for accountability are growing louder. Consumer advocates are demanding investigations by the Utah Department of Commerce, the Salt Lake City Council, and the Salt Lake County District Attorney. “Every illegal tow is theft,” one advocate said. “And when police ignore theft, the message is clear: predatory businesses can victimize the public with impunity.” The Road Ahead For Etherington, the battle is personal — but the issue is much bigger. “This isn’t going away,” he vowed. “If the police won’t defend the law, then the public has to demand they do.” And as long as Swift Towing continues to operate unchecked, Salt Lake residents are left asking: Who really runs the streets — the police, or the tow yards?

if i could leave a 0 star i would, This is by far the worst towing company ever. I would trust a guy with 0 experience before trusting these guys. Their all rude, unprofessional and not to mention charge you so much money, I was working on my car because a part was broken, Right as i was about to finish i had forgotten a bolt inside my house i went inside to get the bolt and right as i come back outside my car is already getting towed. They didnt want to explain to me and where straight out rude to me. If you ever think of going with this company i wish you the best of luck cause these guys clearly dont know what their doing.

This towing company is predatory. They drive through the apartment complex across the street from my home. Today I witnessed horrible behavior from this company. They were towing a man’s car. He put himself in front of the tow truck trying to get them to drop it and talk. Another driver pulled up and grabbed the man, hit him, threw him into the middle of 700 W. I witnessed this from my home. Disgusting behavior and I hope that man sues you.

Forcing handicap individuals to walk their lot for their vehicle instead of easily driving right up to it in the lot was ridiculous. Even after showing our handicap placard the lady said she didn’t care we shouldn’t have had our car towed to begin with..Civil rights still exist within a towing lot, you are a business.

I got a call yesterday the 29th, from my insurance company asking me if I wanted to keep the coverage on my 1999 Saturn SL since it has been impounded out in West Valley City. That's howI found out my car was stolen, and it was the next day I got a letter from Swift Towing giving me a bill for over 500 dollars. It was on the 17th when they impounded it, and it took me to get the bill. That car was my spare car parked in my parking lot at the old County Highrise Senior living Building. When I do drive, I drive a newer Volkswagen 2013 CC and don't drive it very often. I don't know how my insurance found out about it being impounded, but I did file a police report because I didn't park it at the West Valley Condo Parking lot and leave it there. Anyway, after explaining all this to Swift Towing, they said it's the post office's fault for late mail, and you owe $900 now, and we will go after you to collect it. I'm almost 70 years old, on a limited SSI income, living in housing. That's hard-nosed bullying to get every penny they can get away with. I don't have any money left after rent, car insurance, and food. They couldn't care less if the car was stolen. They are just as much a theft as the person who parked it there. My opinion is to stay away from Swift Towing they're cold-hearted

Was parked behind my friend's car WITH PERMISSION at his townhouse. I was not in the road at all. They towed my car within 15 minutes of me parking there. I have the timestamps from their ring camera. I was there for not even 45 minutes and had to pay $351 to get it back. Ridiculous shady company.

RUDE!!!! My issue is not that my car was towed. That is my own fault for not seeing the signage. My issue is the service I received. We went in, cash in hand, ready to pay. We get up and we realize that the car was registered in my significant other’s father’s name. We saw this on their sign in the front. The person at the counter was EXTREMELY rude. Saying “I told this to you over the phone” they did not. When I explained this to him he just said “giving me an attitude won’t get your car back”. I walked out and slammed the door. What kind of company allows their workers to talk to customers in that way. Mind you, customers who are having a pretty crappy day. On my significant others return with their dad, the person at the counter made a remark completely unprovoked saying “oops don’t want to piss this one off again”. We both left the office of this company in tears not because of the car but because of the service. I advise anyone going in not to say a word at all because chances are, these workers will make fun of you, be incredibly rude, condescending, and overall terrible people.

What an experience. Not one moral fiber exists within the management of this company, if we can even call them "management." We were driving through Utah, made a 25 minute stop to eat and come out to find our truck/trailer gone from a parking lot with INSUFFICIENT signage (see photo) and a literal semi parked next to us which was not towed. Explain that to me, tow company? Surely is was worth more money to you and that's all you're after. We walked around to find signs placed WELL inside the entrance to the lot which were not visible because we turned before the sign so that seems like BS and there is a camera there- predatory. There was no else for a small trailer (20') so this seems really unfair. Called, the man on the line was dumber than a doorknob and couldn't explain how literally anything worked. I had to repeat my questions in about 7 ways over and over and over like i was talking to a toddler. He couldn't tell me how to make appt to get vehicle back, where to get vehicle back, ANYTHING. Our truck was still there by the way- in the parking lot over. They refused to drop it there and let us pay them. We had to get a ride to their disgusting office to retrieve it. They recommend we pay in cash, but have no ATM and the guy waiting before us has to walk 0.9 miles each way in 100 degree weather to the nearest one. They charged us for our trailer's MAX towing weight despite it being empty "because we have no scale." What a SCAM. This cost of >$100 more than our trailer's actually weight. Their desk had shattered glass. Truly a disgusting space. Like, you rob people for a living, you can't have a nicer office for your customers to come suffer in? They admitted they gave the semi next to us a warning. Where was our warning? To get to our vehicle they told us it's best to have a ride back to the lot- excuse me, YOU HAVE OUR CAR. Like, figure out a better system. We were fortunate enough to have family in the area to give us a ride but seriously what is wrong with this company?! FIX YOUR SIGNS. FIX YOUR ETHICS. DO BETTER. We all get that you have a job to do, there is a better way to do it. Politely see my photo of your lack of signage.

It's never fun to get your car towed. The big thing to note with these guys is they do not give warnings of any kind. I was parked in a non-designated parking area in my apartment complex (obviously my fault), they towed my car on a friday night and charged me extra to come pick it up on a Saturday. Tried to be really nice and professional to these guys on the off chance that they would have some mercy on the cost but they were not empathetic. They gave me an invoice after they charged my card and I realized they charged me for two days of storage despite the fact that it was towed on a Friday and picket uo Saturday afternoon. Why not a 1 star review then? I guess I feel lucky I even got my car back, the people behind me were told they would have to come back another day. My big concern is the extra charge (obviously) and the fact that they dont do any kind of ticket or warnings. They are more than happy to tow your car, hold it ransom and charge you full price if you want it back.

Predatory towing practices. My daughter parked at a friends apartment complex in visitor parking. The town signage wasn’t near where she parked and you would absolutely need to be looking for it. On that signage it listed for residents and visitor parking only. Down below was a bulleted list of different stipulations one of which said there may be time limits for visiting parking. It did not list those limits. Apparently you have to scan the QR code in order to see the rules. How hard is it to clearly list visitor parking times? I highly recommend if you are unfortunate enough to deal with this company that you take photos of where you parked and the proximity in which their signage is. Use a credit card to pay and dispute! We will 100% be fighting this and reporting to the better business bureau and reviewing on every platform possible.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Swift Towing operates with zero room for error—any misunderstanding or mistake, even unintentional, and they’ll tow your car without warning. Their signage is extremely specific, but that doesn't mean the process is fair or transparent. In my case, my truck was towed under the claim that it didn’t have a parking pass, even though it did. The issue? I was misinformed (not maliciously) about which pass was which—there’s one for opening the garage door and another for actual parking, and apparently, you're supposed to have both visible. My truck had been parked there on and off for almost exactly two weeks with no prior notice or warnings. They never left a single note or tried to contact me before towing it. Calling them was even worse. I had basic logistical questions, but the person on the phone was incredibly rude and dismissive. One of the reps even told me I didn’t deserve to have my truck back because I “obviously don’t care about it.” Seriously? That’s not just unprofessional—it’s cruel. To make matters worse, when they towed my manual truck, they disengaged the parking brake and didn’t put it back on when they dumped it in their yard. They’re extremely lucky they parked it on level ground and that the wind didn’t pick up, or that could’ve turned into a dangerous situation. Swift Towing doesn’t care about your vehicle, your time, or the risk they put others in. If your apartment complex is contracted with them, be extremely cautious. I wouldn’t trust them to tow a toy car, let alone a real one.

PREDITORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Swift Towing towed my car from a disabled parking spot within the complex that I live. This has happened twice to me now! Swift, you should learn your laws!!! SLC PD did advise to me that you cannot assign a disabled spot, even in apartment complexes that assign parking. They are first come first serve. The guy at the counter said "I'm just doing my job". Well you need a new job instead of swindling people out of their hard earned money. Swift towing drives around my apartment complex multiple times per day looking for a car to tow. They have made me uncomfortable in the complex I live in with their creepy drivers lurking around all the time. I now have triggers with my PTSD when I see them lurking in the lot. Swift towing, the way you operate is ridiculous. LEARN YOUR LAWS BEFORE YOU TOW SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!
Apr 15, 2025 -
I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but this situation is wild. I live in an income-restricted apartment complex, meaning not everyone there has a lot of extra money. My registration expired in February, and to my knowledge, you have 30 days to renew it. It's now April 10th (yes, I'm late, but just 10 days after the 30-day grace period). I had planned to pay it on my next paycheck, but this month was tight. rent came first, then my car payment, and insurance. My registration, unfortunately, had to be put on the back burner for just a bit. I understand that they have a job to do, and I respect that, but maybe a warning first? A ticket? Life is tough for everyone, and judging by the people who work here, it's clear finances are a challenge for them as well. It's just surprising that no grace was shown, especially when people are already struggling.

This company drives around hard up for business. They tow any car they can, in private parking lots. This company illegally towed me from a disabled spot within the parking lot I pay to park. Swift Towing, learn your laws. Disabled parking cannot be assigned to ANYONE! Those spots are always first come first serve. I even called SLC PD, they advised that I was illegally towed but because I was towed on Private property, it is now a civil. matter. Good luck in court.
