Very polite, humble and cooperative employees that I have ever experienced with as a trucker.

HANDS DOWN! UM is the only recycling\scrap yard to go to. You won't find anyone else who treats you as good they do when it comes to getting paid. One year later and I STILL love this place! I can't praise UMW enough! Professional, courteous, genuine.

The Best place I have ever taken my scrap metal. Great prices and very friendly. I also had some metal they forgot about, and they sent me a check in the mail for it. I won't go anywhere else.

Very helpful and friendly staff! I'm a small-time scrapper who only comes in 2-4 times per month, but they always remember my name. Also, the yard is easy to navigate, and the staff often helps me unload my truck (which hasn't ever happened on the rare occasion I go to a different scrap yard).

Maybe I just went there at the wrong time of the day for my first time, but their lot, and traffic of semis and forklifts if a huge joke. No directions on where to take stuff either. I was going to go inside the check-in building, but was honked at while scoping out the non existing parking spots. Good luck if you have never been there!

Want to thank all the staff from Utah metal works for their professional conduct and infinite patience. The hard working guys in the back and in the yard, to the petty lady's in the front and the caballeros in the caves. Thanks

I went to turn in copper for the first time, and the worker named Juan yelled at me because my car wasn't parked right he told to move it but didn't say where. So I moved out of his way, I walk back up to him and he started freaking out again and yelling for me to go park my car by the office, by far one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met....he did apologize but way to late buddy.

This place is not for the faint of heart. They run an incredible operation. Every inch of space was utilized. There are mounts of metal strategically stacked with a narrow canyon roads to drive through. Forklifts whiz by. Semi tractor own the right of way. Excavators throw metal in this mesmerizing pattern. Organized chaos in the purest sense. I loved it. Plus, it's just a couple miles from work. I would not recommend recycling your aluminum cans here. You'll probably get lost in the labyrinth of metal. I'll get pictures next time....

Great place to take metal and possibly buy metal things. Very friendly office. They make it very easy to recycle. You weigh your vehicle with the metal in it then unload it where they tell you and weigh it again. go into the office and they pay you. If you are taking in more valuable metal copper, aluminum etc. There is a different bay where you hand unload and walk in while they weigh it. You then get a ticket and take it to the pay counter and get paid. Remember to have your ID. If it's your first time and you have questions I've found the office to be patient and willing to help.

I use gathering scrap as a way to fund extras for my family. I cash out maybe once a month and usually come with a rather large volume of #1 copper and stripped Romex. I decided to give this yard a try and was very disappointed. Granted it was late on a Friday but I was there well before they closed. After being screamed at by one worker for apparently parking in a bad place (directly next to two other trucks) I started carrying my load to the scale which was very hard to locate and none was very helpful when I asked I guess I wasn't current enough with my lingo to deserve some help. Lastly instead of being paid for #1 bright and shinny for the stripped Romex I was oaid for Romex wire so my hours of stripping wire went in paid. I would not recommend this yard to anyone.

Quick. Simple. Easy. Great folks to deal with. Highly recommend!!! (Bring your ID though, you'll need it if you've never been here before.)

I have been here twice now. The ladies an men in the office are friendly and helpful. The guy's in the yard and on the dock are great help. They helped me unload my truck. I came here because a friend recommended them after I went somewhere else and got less for the same weight on steel the day before. This place is fair and I will be coming here from now on. It's a tight place if you have a trailer but worth it!! Thank you Utah Metal Works!

Most of the people are nice, BUT there are a few that do not have clue on what’s going on around them. They have Forklift Operators getting frustrated and waving you to go on or move but when your in a Semi Truck with a Long Box, you can’t just squeeze threw a small hole or drive over someone. Then they have Forklift Operators Putting stuff on the scale behind you when your backing up with a Semi Trailer. There is “No” room or Organization at this place. The access route is in and out of this place is wide enough for one Vehicle. There is Trucks/Vehicles coming to Scale from Two Directions. One of the good things about this place is they sweep out the Trailers. Organize this place and I’ll give 5 stars. Maybe paint some lines or put up ropes so people can follow a certain route or have someone out there directing people and maybe have one way as the Entrance and the other as the Exit.

Great people everywhere. Such friendly ladies in the office. Great workers in the yard. Extremely great prices on recycling, updated as often as needed to reflect the market. Any amount of scrap from a shopping cart full off cans, truck bed full of turnings, to a flat bed full of computer chips.

Super busy, but it's also unorganized with no directions on what to do. And, no place to turn your truck or a semi truck around. It's way over crowded with customers and junk. Not worth the hassle!

It was my first time ever recycling metal. Jesus and the other workers were kind in helping me get to the right area, unload my car, and explain how the process works. The lady who helped me in the office (Cheshire cat) was extremely kind and helpful as well. The price I was paid for my scrap was better than anywhere else in Salt Lake and I called 4 other places before correctly choosing Utah Metal Works. THANK YOU for being so professional and awesome!

They are great to work with, good on their word & get things processed efficiently. My only advice is to double check the weight slip/receipt they give you to ensure accuracy of product & weight you've turned in.

Great people helping businesses and the public. If you're bringing a trailer, be sure to know how to back it up several times. The only way they could be better(and increase efficiency) would be by making the whole facility 1-way vehicle traffic, including scales.

Never go here again. Accused of stealing and cut our weight while on scale. The mexican that weights everything was very ignorant and rude. We had saved up our junk for a year and went to turn in was refused by the pica that weights the metal because we had been there twice already that day. I will now go out of my way to travel farther to turn my scrap in just so i dont have to deal with the belittling and accusation of assumption i didnt get my metal legit. I may get lower prices but i dont want to c these people in business anymore.

do not go to this place, they will rip you off. they post there rates in the office and look out the window at what you got then give whatever rate they feel without inspecting anything, they are rude and there drivers are worst. all there acts like your inconveniencing them and there scales are way off

The ladies at the front desk are kind, efficient and fast. They always give a fair price. Watch out for the guy in the back though. Impatient as all get out. However, I would still go back to them.

Had 15 pc disassembled with memory separated and processor separated he paid me $40 dollars for $200 in scrap processors and nothing for 300lbs of steal cases and main boards ripped me off real good will not go back. going to down town scrap yard from now on. Thought about Filing Better Business Bureau report or a police report. I just feel stupid for trusting the owner over the whole thing. Just go down town it less likely you have to wait a hour or be ripped off or have your information lost.

I interacted with four different people while there, and some were pleasant to deal with, while others were terrible. The guys who helped me unload were great! The ladies in the office were nice enough. There was a guy who yelled at me because I wasn't sure where to drop stuff off, that guy was more trash than the trash that was piled up! Next time I'll just find a dumpster to throw my stuff away.

First time there but the guy that helped me unload and weigh my brass was awesome to work with. They gave me what seemed like a fair price for it. The office lady was quite helpful too.

I've been taking our metal shavings from our machine shop to them for 20 years and have never felt like I've been taken advantaged of. Sometimes it takes a while if the scales are busy but 90% of the time i'm in and out in less than 20 minutes with cash or check in hand. Always friendly and professional.

Pretty good place to take my scrap metal. It's close to my house and the main reason I choose them over another scrap yard. Prices at all scrap yards seem to be competitive with each other. The first visit here is always a little different but you get used to the procedure after a few times.

Utah Metal works was great. I had some property stolen from me, and Utah Metal Works could have just processed the metal, but they did not they took the time to return the product to me, and are prosecuting!! They try not to buy stolen goods, which for a metal recycling plant is a big deal! Thanks Utah Metal Works!!

I read some of the other reviews and was hesitant due to some nasty comments about their customer service. I was pleasantly surprised by how courteous and helpful everyone was. From emails regarding what they accept to the actual weighing in and payment, it was superb. it's was virtually painless!! They were SUPER helpful and the price was one of the better in the valley. We will definitely go there again.

UMW is the leader of the non-ferrous recycling facilities in all of Utah. As I have been for more than 10 years now I will continue to sell my metal to UMW for years to come. Their staff is amazing and are always kind. The owners are generous and civic minded. The best of the bunch. My personal favorite. A+ team.
