Very honorable and honest mechanic. Never had issues with the work and fair pricing. Will take care of all his customers and cares more about the customers best interest than gouging customers for every cent. Highest levels of integrity and decency imaginable.
This place is trash. We stopped by while following my nephew to college. His car was running hot and we needed someone to take a look and give us an idea of what the issue could be. We stopped here at 1pm and while there were at least 5 dudes there (not busy), they wouldn't look at it because they closed at 3:30.
We left there and found another mechanic 3 minutes away. He was also closing at 3:30 with 1 guy working on a car. The guy came out with his son shadowing, took the time to look at my nephews car and told us what the issue was. It didn't even take 30 minutes but I did leave him with a monetary tip. I hope his business gets all the clients!
If you want to get your vehicle fixed and working like new take your vehicle to Fred's radiator and auto repair shop.
I guarantee you that when you get your vehicle back it will be working like a new vehicle.

Just terrible I took my car to get rear shocks .3days later, I picked up my car. And only one shock was replaced, passenger side still bouncing,and now I have a huge oil leak . Don't know if they cracked the oil pan or broke a line. Im so disappointed. Money just wasted. I noticed the problem 5 minutes after driving off. I called immediately and the lady that answered said bring it back. But why will I do that when yall screwed me over the first time? I have 2 kids ,no good running car. My advice is to never use this place. Im begging you. If u do , you will be sorry too. Stick to known name shops like Good year, pep boys, macco, etc...
The response from the owner below suggests it was another business but it was Fred's. Took my car in for some body work. Was told it would be better than new once the work was done. The replacement part was used and the paint job was poor, causing it to need to be redone, which cost me more rental car time and expense. I cannot recommend this place.
On my way home from DFW on 7/24, my car broke down on the highway—about 100 miles from Waco. Since I’m not from the area, I had my CRV towed to Greg May Honda, assuming a dealership would be the safest bet. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Greg May Honda communicated poorly and then quoted me an outrageous price for a catalytic converter replacement.
Thankfully, I came across Fred’s shop while searching for alternatives—and what a difference. On 7/29, I had my vehicle towed to Fred’s, and from the very beginning, the experience was night and day. Fred’s communication was excellent, and it was immediately clear he genuinely cares about helping people. Even without an appointment, he managed to receive, diagnose, and fully repair my car within just three days.
To top it off, Fred charged me half of what the dealership quoted. The honesty, efficiency, and professionalism at Fred’s are unmatched. I’ll absolutely be returning for any future automotive needs—and recommending Fred’s to everyone I know.
We were 7 hours from home and our radiator blew. Not knowing anywhere we googled and found Freddie’s. Had the vehicle towed there. I always say never judge a book by its cover when we pulled up it didn’t look like much but let me tell you I Never have I been so happy.
He put 3 guys on our vehicle and got our old radiator out and a new one put in in just over 1 hour.a fancy building doesn’t make a good shop. It’s the people that work there that make the shop and Freddie’s is full of kind knowledgeable mechanics. Thank you so much
So my good friend took her car to Fred's for a/c repair. Three visits and almost $800 later it was still not working. He then recommended she leave it a fourth time for yet another bundle of money. I recommended my amazing mechanic at Discount Automotive (Jimmy and Laurie Owen owners.) In about 40 minutes he had the a/c repaired and for only $85. I'm so happy my friend now will be using a reputable shop. Shame on Fred's for charging a whopping $140 just to put freon in! Can you say RIP OFF??
Some how ended up with 2 scratches on the front end. Someone yanked my odor dispenser from around my mirror & threw it on the driver side floor. Suspension screws were tightened but did not fix the problem I asked for servicing. Wish I could give zero stars!

Always leave their shop Happy! They find out the cause of your issue and do their best to fix it, and they give you the price up front, so you're not surprised by the bill. I've always felt that they care for the customer and do what they can to make sure you are happy and the vehicle is fixed right the first time. I won't willingly go to another mechanic, ever again!
I was in a hit and run rear-ending and still had two hours to travel to get to my family’s Thanksgiving, they took me out for a drive in the car to listen to it, told me exactly what was wrong, tightened something up to make the grinding sound go away, and didn’t charge me at all. I took up 20 minutes of their time and expertise and they reassured me I was safe to drive at no expense, and were super kind and understanding as well.
Fred’s is the BEST! They are so professional and honest to a tee!! They are family owned and follow all the laws and look after you and your vehicle! They have your back and are thee most honest mechanics I’ve ever had after 30 years of Cars and Driving!! Don’t go to any other mechanic in the city!!
This 5-star rating is all about honesty. This was my first time visiting this automative shop and I did so because of the good reviews. Fred was honest with me about not needing an A/C evacuation and recharge service. The Mercedes dealership here in Waco was recommending that I get this service and they wanted to charge me over $600 dollars. I did not think I needed the A/C service because my A/C was blowing nice and cold. This is why I wanted to get a second opinion. Anyway, Fred is definitely worth your time. He was down to earth and did not charge me a dime for his technician to check my car's air conditioning system. Thank You Fred again and God bless you!
As we all know when dealing with mechanics it can be a nightmare! Well my dad always recommends me to Fred! This time i got to experience Fred for myself! Humble, caring, and honest! He took his time and found out what was wrong with my car. He took his time explaining it and FIXED it! Not only did I get a car experience but I was able to get some Godly wisdom from him… I am grateful for this Man and his employees! If you are in need of a good mechanic stop by and tell him I sent you! If he cant fix it, he is honest enough to tell you!
Excellent service and very reasonable prices. I called to explain what was going on with my vehicle and was told to bring it by. Upon arriving, I was greeted with a warm welcome by a gentleman outside and directed to Fred. Fred was very informative, explained to me what was wrong with my car, and got everything taken care of promptly on a Saturday morning. I highly recommend this place if you are having any issues with your car.
I had taken my car to a local auto repair shop with some issues and told I needed a new engine. I wrote a post in my small community’s FB group asking for car repair shop recommendations with good customer service & affordable. One person highly recommended I take my car to Fred’s. He shared someone had taken their Chrysler to Fred’s the week prior with the same diagnosis to find it was actually something minor. Praise God, the same occurred for me! Fred made me comfortable the moment I phoned him with my situation. He assured me he would do his best to find and fix the issue. Great customer service & affordable, which was my request in my FB post. My car is now running smooth! 13 years old with 109K ready to take her 200K and beyond! Highly recommend Fred & his crew!
Was stuck in Waco with worn brakes and had a replacement set on hand I was hoping to get installed. While calling around, I spoke with two employees at this shop, a woman and a gentlemen who I imagine was the owner or manager.
For simply looking or asking for help, I was berated for owning an electric car, despite needing service that is fairly typical on most cars. The phrase “it’s your own fault for purchasing that car, you know what you’re getting into” is not something I imagine someone who needs help should hear in a time of need. I understand I may have been a bit needless as we were trying to solve our problem, but I did not expect this degree of treatment or discrimination for owning a particular type of vehicle. They were also very unwilling to help when I was hoping for any referral or recommendations on how I might be able to get my brake pads replaced. Ultimately, I was left without help and feeling even worse than when I began the call.
Would not recommend for service.

Tesla and EV owners, this is exactly where you’ll find people willing to make you feel bad about your purchase.
Unless you perfectly fit the “profile” for the type of work they do, go elsewhere. I imagine you might get better treatment.
Fred is an answer to my prayers for a good mechanic for my daughter that won’t over charge, will diagnose correctly and won’t take advantage of our lack of knowledge! My daughter, a sophomore Baylor student, had work done last year on her 2003 vehicle that cost over $700 at another shop, wishing we had known Fred last year. We were new to the area so we didn’t know where else to look. We went back to that shop with a check engine light and they charged us $133 to just diagnose the car. Fred does free diagnoses! The recommended repairs were almost $700. One of the three things were spark plugs for around $500. I felt like that was pretty steep, my father came into town but wasn’t familiar with my daughters car to change the spark plugs so he checked out two other mechanics. The second mechanic quoted us mid $300’s and then Fred quoted us mid $200’s. He will be our mechanic for as long as she is in Waco! My daughter and I now have peace of mind that she won’t be taken advantage of when her old car needs future things done! I would 100% recommend Fred, unless you like being over charged and up sold.
Fred and his team were top notch. Came in for ac repair, he gave me the run down on what could be wrong. He even mentioned depending on what year of my vehicle; the Freon could be double the price. After diagnosis He told me my vehicle took the cheaper type, where as he could of easily sold me on the expensive. 100% trustworthy & dependable. Will be back for any other vehicle needs
I went to Fred's in 2020 when I moved here. They did brake work for me and they did an excellent job. They are a delightful group. I had a repair that was warranted. I wish that they accepted warranty because I was new in town and did not know where to go. Fred suggested Jesse Britt's. He said that they were the best, he wouldn'tsay it if it weren't true. Well, Honest Fred was right. I have been with Jesse Britt's since because ot the warranty, but if you have no warranty on your vehicle, Fred's is the place to go. The pricing is fair and the service is excellent.
So glad I came here!! I had last minute car engine issues, and the owner of the shop even stayed after hours while my car was towed. The people were so kind and helpful! Service was fast and very reasonably priced.

I came in to get a mass flow sensor replaced and I was assisted very quickly. I originally thought I would have to wait for a few hours, but they were accommodating and offered me a ride home. Even though they were quite busy on a typical Monday morning, they decided to just replace the part immediately which took less than 30 minutes! The cost didn’t break my pockets. Fred and the staff were awesome! I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing service!
Fred will definitely be my trusted mechanic in the Waco area. As a Baylor student, I lacked finding a mechanic as honest and sincere as the one back home, but now that I found Fred, I definitely feel reassured and at ease. He made sure to let me know that he was there for me no matter what! He didn’t try to charge me for things that I didn’t need.
( Also, during my time there, Fred and I had a great one on one conversation as he encouraged me in my schooling. That personal connection will forever stick with me.) Seriously, if you’re needing a good place to take your car, this is the one.
I was referred to Fred's auto shop by my Tia. And I was not disappointed! They are all awesome and very warm welcoming. They made me feel like family and as if my car was there priority! I went there to get my starter fixed, after going to pep boys and being told I had to pay $100 for diagnosis plus $630 for starter repair. I paid the $100 and got outta there. Fred was able to get me the part and labor all for a very affordable price. My car was ready that same day!! Best thing is he really knows what he is doing, my car was in good hands with his employees as well. I well never go anywhere else for my auto needs! These guy are to best!!
Can I give 1,000 gold stars!! We were traveling through from Alabama. My MIL had been at MD Anderson in Houston after leaving we decided to detour through Waco so our girls could have a little vacation. Our car started running hot, The next morning we took our car to Fred’s auto mechanic after reading great reviews. The service DID NOT disappoint!! We dropped the car off at 8:30, they were nice enough to have Ben, one of the mechanics there drive us back to the hotel and by 915 they were calling us to tell us what the problem was. They had to find the part and then had our car fully serviced by 3:00 without breaking the bank!!!! All the guys there pulled together to help us out in every way possible. Great Service, Great Price, timely manner all with a great attitude and completely professional! I wish we had this type of service close to home they would be our go to guys!!
