This is the most honest and kind shop that has ever serviced any of my vehicles. They will only do what is necessary to keep your vehicle running in top condition. It is so refreshing in our world to know there remain some really good people providing fair and efficient services.

It's unusual for sure to think of a car problem requiring a mechanic would be a pleasant experience... but these folks did me right, and got me going. Mitch and his team are quite a thing.

Took my car to a real mechanic — one who actually knows what they’re doing — and he fixed every single issue I came in with for just $250. Mitch had me get on the ground to look at a part he claimed was the a/c issue. It wasn’t. It had nothing to do with the problem.
The real cause? According to the new mechanic, it was just low Freon — allegedly. Funny how my A/C worked perfectly before I ever came here.
As a woman, I was mocked, berated, and completely disrespected. I wasn’t taken seriously, and I was treated like I wouldn’t know any better.
This shop is predatory, unprofessional, and dishonest. If you’re a student or a woman — be warned. Stay far away.
Absolutely do NOT recommend! If you’re a TTU student and not from the area, DO NOT trust this place. For your own sake and your money, find another shop in Lubbock.
My boyfriend originally took my car into M&M to get checked due to the engine jumping, as I work full-time (8–6) and couldn’t go myself. The initial quote was around $630 for an O2 sensor and an air filter—seemed reasonable at first. Then we were suddenly told by Mitch that my car needed cylinder head work totaling $6,000. Naturally, we wanted a second opinion.
Not only did they refuse to provide the diagnostic codes when asked, but I later scanned the car myself (I have photo evidence of the actual codes)—and none of them supported the diagnosis or the $6,000 repair Mitch claimed was needed. This felt dishonest and ‼extremely predatory‼
After waiting nearly two weeks, I picked up my car only to find:
1. An oil separator was installed without my approval
2. The A/C had completely stopped working—a system that worked perfectly when I dropped the car off
When I called Mitch, he said to bring it back and he’d refund me and look at the A/C. From the second I walked in, he was rude and condescending—questioning me and speaking down to me for not “handling this myself,” completely ignoring that I’m a full-time student with a full-time job.
The only time he showed any decency was when I became visibly upset—and a customer walked in.
He then refused to take responsibility for the A/C issue, saying “we didn’t touch that,” and tried to blame it on me supposedly hitting a pothole—again, suspicious timing. (I have video of this exact conversation.)
Why would I have him work on my car again after spending $899, getting a partial refund, and coming back with more issues than when I dropped it off?
Bottom line: I have the codes. I have the video. I have the receipts. Mitch was wrong and the entire experience was unprofessional and stressful.
I strongly urge anyone reading this to take your car elsewhere and get a second opinion. You deserve honesty, transparency, and respect—not to be talked down to and overcharged.
Today I got my friend to have a pre purchase inspection for the car she want to buy. Mitch found the problems and pointed them out in front of the sellers for me. I really appreciate his inspection and he also gave us some advice about how to find a good car. He is so nice, and even the inspection is totally free! Definitely the best inspection I ever had.
I recently had the luck and pleasure of visiting M & M Tire and Service Center, and I can’t say enough about the exceptional service I received! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine willingness to help. I had a Check Engine Light and they quickly got to work diagnosing the problem. Not only did they find the culprit—an O2 Sensor—but they replaced it in no time and did an overall checkup and had me back on the road faster than I could’ve imagined.
What really stood out was their professionalism paired with a down-to-earth, friendly vibe. Mitch took the time to explain everything to me in a way that made sense, without any pressure to upsell unnecessary services. Everything was fair and transparent, which is a huge plus in my book.
The shop itself was clean and the office is full of interesting nostalgic Downtown Lubbock-themed artifacts, pictures, and mementos, making the whole experience even more pleasant.

I first took my car to another place and they said I needed all new spark plugs and other issues. I took it here to get a second opinion after seeing the reviews. He said a few of my spark plugs were bad and he found a completely different issue within my engine. He was able to fix both within a day and gave us very fair price. Don't waste your time going other places! Very honest work is done at m&m.
Value and respect for the customer's time, in my humble opinion, are key components for an outstanding experience.
I am a Corpus Christi, TX resident who happens to have a kid attending Texas Tech. Mitch may not remember , but my first experience with M&M Automotive was one which happened sometime in the Summer of 2024. Back then I showed up with a vehicle needing an alignment service. The shop was clearly swamped with customer's vehicles needing service. It was certainly evident that I was not going to be able to get service that same day. Mitch was sensitive enough to understand that I was in no position to wait indefinitely for an alignment. Without hesitation he referred me to Huse Brake & Alignment which solved my need immediately and did a quality job.
Fast forward to a week ago. My son's pick-up brake system failed. Based on my past experience, I decided take the car to M&M. Again, the place had plenty of customer's cars in line for service. I talked to Mitch and shared information on the troubled truck. He was honest and told me that while they were able to help, it would not be until the following week. I understood and based on, both the above referenced experience and abundant positive reviews for M&M, decided to leave the vehicle in the shop. Last Thursday, I received a call from one of M&M's friendly staff members letting me know that the pick-up truck was ready. Needless to say the repairs performed were on point and reasonably priced. I personally tested the truck for a couple of days and the brakes performed flawlessly. Next time any of our vehicles in the local area are in need of service, I will definitely bring them to M&M. I’ve been here several times. This most recent time was a spur of the moment something was wrong with my car and it sounded terrifying. Mitch got me in quick and fixed me all up and charged a reasonable price. Mitch is the best you can get in town. I’ll be sad when I leave Lubbock because I won’t have Mitch for working on my cars.

I took a Nissan Altima to Mitch at M&M to be inspected before I bought it, and he told me everything I needed to know about the engine and frame condition of the car. He was super friendly and professional. I also took the same car to him when it had an airbag light. He troubleshooted the airbag light and told me that the Nissan dealership will have to use their computer to reset and reprogram the main control module. Since this was the case, he didn’t charge me anything since he doesn’t like charging people if he didn’t help them. Talk about a person who is not trying to rip you off. I’m definitely taking my car to him if I need anything and will pay whatever he sees fit since I know I can trust him.
Yesterday I noticed that I had a screw in one of my tires. It wasn’t losing air but I went to 4 businesses to try and rectify the situation.
Gene Messer Chevrolet, Discount Tire, Mavis Tire and finally… M & M Tire.
The first three wouldn’t try to alleviate the problem due to the location of the screw…they proposed selling me a new Michelin.
M & M pulled the screw out and advised that it hadn’t penetrated deep enough to cause air loss. So, no fix or replacement necessary and they didn’t charge me.
So my review of M and M Tire is hands down ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!
I was referred to M&M and Mitch by my wife's employer. I had an oil leak in my 07' Yukon and feared a rear main seal leak. I knew it would be a big job. Mitch called the same day I dropped it off with a diagnosis and estimate. He was spot on in labor time and parts, it was an 8-hour job and he had it ready the next day. When I came to pick it up he met me at the door and shook my hand thanking me for the business. The rear main seal was replaced, no more leaks, great price, knowledgeable techs, and quality work. Old-school customer service the way it should be. I won't take my vehicles anywhere else in Lubbock, Texas.
As long as I have a choice, I won't go anywhere else. I trust Mitch and his crew with the safety of my kids, my wife and me. If the work's not in his wheelhouse, he knows where to send you. There is nothing better than having a mechanic you trust, and Mitch is that guy for me.

My Daughter was traveling from Texas to Washington state when she hit a huge pothole, that damaged her vehicle. We called several shops in the area and got the same old,sorry we cant help we are to busy. Then we called M&M and explained our situation to Mitch. He was a gift from God. His response to me was have her bring it down and we can at least see what is wrong with it and if we can't fix it we will help her find someone who can. They took the time to help someone in their time of need and got her back on her long trip home. These are great people and this Dad appreciates them very much. Gods light shines through their kindness.

Very helpful! I needed help diagnosing a strange sound coming from my front suspension. Even though they were all booked for the day they still managed to squeeze me in since I was traveling from out of town. They drove the car, figured out the issue (sway bar) and let me know it was not a safety issue so that I could travel with peace of mind. Best of all they didn’t charge me a dime despite my offers to pay them for their time. I am highly recommended these nice folks.
The best place to go for 95% of your vehicle repair needs with the exception of the jobs that he doesn't do. Personally I purchased tires from here a few months ago and just recently had my A/C fixed. I've known people who've had engine work done here as well. If you're looking for a place that is big on honesty and integrity more so than about your money,this is the place to go. Mitch is the owner and a great all around guy. He's always been honest as to what was wrong with the vehicle and not tried to tack on things that didn't really need repairing at that immediate moment like a lot of places do. If it's not a must that something needs to be done right then and there, he will let you know what's wrong and inform you of that fact. He's always very busy but not too busy to get you worked in. This place is awesome. A pretty decent sized operation, it seems to run really smoothly and quickly. Mitch, the owner, has answered the phone every time I've called. He is super nice, a clear communicator, and delivers news honestly. The rest of the staff we've talked with are also just really professional. We got there in the morning and all of them had their uniforms clean and pressed! I had contacted several different mechanics about our car's a/c issue and they either had incredibly high charges for just diagnosing the problem, or gave me quotes over the phone without seeing the vehicle. This is the place to take your vehicle!
Mitch is amazing and was super helpful and very honest. My alternator belt and water pump had been replaced this past August and it turned out that I had to get them replaced again. Mitch informed me that it should still be under warranty and even called the other mechanic that had fixed my car prior to get them to send over all the information he needed. As a college student who does not know about cars at all, I would definitely recommend this place. Mitch helped me with my situation to get me the best price and did not take advantage of my lack of car knowledge. I wish there was more than 5 stars!!
