Nicks is a shop I was recommended to go to by a family member, I am not from Lubbock and was traveling back home (California) my AC went out and they had me back on the road within MINUTES I was very impressed and extremely grateful for his work. Driving over 1k miles w children and no AC was not ideal but they got me fixed up and back on the road. I would definitely go to Nicks if I should ever need to. Thanks
Dropped off my car here about a month ago and never heard back. I had to call them two weeks later for a status update. The front desk lady said she’d have to check with the mechanic and would call me back—never got a call. Called again the following week, same response, same promise, no call back. Called once more this past Tuesday and was put on hold for five minutes, only to be told they still hadn’t even looked at my car after a whole month.
At that point I was done waiting. Picked up my car the next morning and took it to another shop—who had it fixed the same day.
This place completely wasted my time. No communication, no accountability. I won’t be coming back and definitely won’t recommend them to anyone. They lost my business and my referrals.
I know nothing about fixing cars and was recommended Nick's by a friend. So, I brought my car in for a repair. They were very busy but they still found the time to listen to me as I explained the problem. They were able to fit me into their schedule and were able to quickly fix the issue. The charge was very reasonable. I had been in search of a mechanic that I could trust but that isn't a problem anymore. Good people, good service at honest prices.
Do not recommend, bad experience, starter problems on vehicle mechanic said needed new pulleys and belt to repair problem paid over $500; same day I got vehicle back the starter had the exact same problem apparently did not fix the problem, took it back and after two days finally told me the flywheel had to be replaced would cost over $700, not happy feel they misdiagnosed it initially, took it to another shop diagnosed repaired it promptly within about one day and haven’t had any problems since, I would caution to be very careful if you decide to deal with nicks auto.
This place is awesome, I thought I really screwed up my AC by trying to fix the blower fan myself and didn't work. Took my vehicle and in 20 minutes was done. This is the 3rd time I have been there and will be a loyal customer.
I would give zero stars. Car was squealing, replaced some belts…4 days and $500 later still squealing as soon as I drove away. They didn’t even drive it to see if they fixed the problem. Went down to Brady’s spent about $400 more, problem fixed in less than a day and gave me recommendations for future maintenance. Neal and his staff are very dishonest and extremely rude.
****I did come back and was only told by Neil that he could remove all of the parts that he installed that did not fix the problem and charge me for labor! The bill was damn near $500, but let’s argue that moot point. I will forever tell people not to use you! Customer service and word of mouth is the key to a successful business. You will never be as successful as your uncle who wasn’t a crook.
They responded to my review and said all I had to do is bring it back and they would have figured it out, what a lie! I did! Nick said he could just remove all the new parts that didn’t fix the problem and charge me for labor. He is the rudest man, horrible customer service!
I took my truck to Nick Automotive for electrical issues, and a belt being off and it was a complete nightmare. They misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $1,226, and my truck is still not fixed! Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake, they refused to correct it and basically told me I was out of luck.
This shop is unprofessional, lacks accountability, and clearly does not care about customer satisfaction. I highly recommend avoiding this place unless you want to waste your money and time. Look elsewhere for honest and competent service!
*Sad part about Nick's was when I asked questions like for my receipt, my invoice and why such a big charge when there was no change in my issue with the truck because it was basically in the same situation I took it in. The Owner had the audacity to say I don't make the prices they do, the front does. HAHAHA, I guess he meant the secretary's do, what a petty lie... Yeah right Ya'll charge an arm and leg for nothing just to rip off customers because you hold a Automotive mechanic certificate that didn't do you any good. No good service, Yet the worse place to take a vehicle for a legit honest and trustworthy repair.
Went in a few weeks to a month ago because I was having issues with the thermostat in my car. I’d already been working on it and got pretty far in the process, but got to a point where I couldn’t figure it out. Towed it over on Friday after they closed and it was ready before I’d gotten out of work on Monday. They worked on everything and gave me a fair price to finish the work. Haven’t had issues with my car since. Thanks y'all!
Update: Went and had my timing belt and an oil leaked fix for a second. Car is driving phenomenally and the service was great. Thank y’all!!
I’ve been to a lot of different mechanics and this is the mechanic I’m going to take my car to every time. They know what they’re doing and their customer service is excellent. They answer fast and they are really good at explaining. I’m just a girl that doesn’t know much about cars and I asked dozens of questions and they answered every single of it with a smile. The mechanic itself is very educated and knows what they’re talking about. And if you’re someone that can’t spend thousands of dollars on a small labor work this is your place!
I brought my car in to fix the strut along with a couple other things. They kept my car for months (not exaggerating) “waiting on a part". After countless phone calls, they finally told me they could fix my car but my insurance wasn't going to give them enough money and wanted me to pay the difference. I ended up going and picking up my car after they fixed ONE thing on it, telling them I didn't want them to do anything to it anymore and that I’d take it somewhere else. I paid out of pocket for the service that was completed and went on my way. A while later I found out they ended up billing my insurance for everything anyway and banking the money for work they didn't even do. I'm a young college student, and they definitely took advantage of my situation. The unprofessionalism shows in these reviews as well, almost every single bad review has a snarky comment from them on how nothing was their fault. Incredibly unprofessional, super shady, don't bring your car here
Nick's is a trustworthy business. They do high quality work at a fair and competitive price point. If they don't find anything wrong, there isn't even a charge! They will earn your business and keep it.
I've paid more in damages in the month since I took my car in than the overall cost originally going in to fix the headlight. I've had to replace not one but two tires due to the mechanic not clipping my plastic by my tires on, so it MELTED and flattened both tires. Then I got a ticket last night for my headlight being out, so I took it back in to be checked out because that was exactly a month ago it was fixed. They said "both headlights are working fine" I said well I got a ticket and it was out last night so clearly something is wrong. They proceeded to do nothing. So I've paid more to fix my car since I've taken it there then ever planned for. They could care less either. So thank you guyssss so much, Merry Christmas

Wonderful experience with the staff at Nick's! I took my car in after driving through some heavy rain and extremely large puddles out of worry that there was something wrong, since I thought that the engine was making different sounds than it had previously. I was prepared for a worst-case scenario and an expensive repair job, but they looked over my car and test-drove it and reassured me that everything was fine! They didn't charge me anything for just taking a look at it, and I truly appreciate their honesty since they could have taken advantage of my concern and told me I needed to get something fixed or replaced when it didn't have to be. Becky provided me with great service and was very helpful, and I will definitely be coming back if/when something actually does need fixing in my car!
I had my son take his dodge there. He goes to tech and I was concerned I'd not find someone that could work well on the vehicle. The mechanic was exceptionally knowledgeable and I was so relieved. The receptionist especially made ne feel at ease. I'm excited to know we have a place that we can trust. Thank you guys!!!!
Becky and Brandy at Nick's are amazing in communicating everything as it's going on! The shop is SO fast, and they will diagnose the ACTUAL issue and not charge you for a bloated bill for things you don't need. They are GREAT and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
We called Nick’s as our college daughter’s car wasn’t working. They towed it to the shop, assessed everything and called us with updates and a plan of attack faster than you can say SUPERCALIFRAJALISTICEXPIALLIDOCHES! They are honest and have a conservative approach to fixing cars. We wish they’d come to Houston!

i went to nicks automotive just the other day and experienced the best service in lubbock, dare i say texas, i have had in car repair. not only was every employee at their most helpful and friendly attire, the service was very fast and efficient i was in and out in no time at all. they changed two of my belts after a short phone call of me explaining my issues and my car sounds brand new! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND‼‼
I went to nicks automotive because of the free diagnostic and my a/c started blowing hot air.. I’m a girl and I don’t know.. I was really worried it was going to be super expensive, but it was just my AC compressor… I called around to see if I could find a cheaper price, but I couldn’t… I was really impressed with the front office girl Chris I think… very polite and understood I didn’t know what was going on Becky helped me too. Needless to say I’m very happy with the service I received! my AC is working great thanks so much you guys!
I knew I had to replace my water pump..not only did they replace just what was needed they did it all in one day! (Literally the fastest repair I've ever experienced). I then had an issue with my car still overheating. They took it back, and they fixed it without any additional charges! I recommend them with all your car needs! Super polite and efficient!
Thank You Nick's Automotive for making my most recent car repair experience the best car repair experience I have ever had in every phase possible! They totally delivered on everything their TV Commercial advertised. I brought in my Chevy Equinox LS to Mr. Chris the Technician & Ms. Becky the Service Advisor they Diagnosed the problem free. I arrived a little bit after 10:00 am and everything was resolved before lunch! My thermostat was going haywire and my AC/Heater dead. When time came 2 pay the bill my receipt was easy 2 understand & had a complete detail of the parts, labor, & time used for the Job. I have had the same kind of work done on previous vehicles I've owned and the Price Nick's gave was more than agreeable. I have never felt more stress relief or eagerness 2 settle up with the car repair place. Now my AC is Blasting Cold air & All the warning lights on my Dashboard gone! Thank You for Honesty & Professionalism You Guys are Absolutely everything you say you are! This IS the BEST place 2 go 4 any car repairs you may have, I promise!
I have used Nicks several times over the years and they have always been very friendly and HONEST. I was told by another auto shop that my car needed a $900 repair, when I called Nicks for a quote on the same repair their quote was $400. I took my car to them and they looked at my car and it didn't even need the repair the other shop reported that it needed. Nicks didn't even charge me to look at the car. To think I would have paid $900 for an unnecessary and overpriced repair job to the other shop. Another time I thought I needed a new battery. Oreillys said the diod failed their test. Nicks looked at it and said it just needed to be tightened up and once again didn't even charge me to look at the car!! And most recently, a very well-known auto shop quoted me $2500 for repairs, Nicks quoted me $1500 for exact same repairs. And when they looked at the car one of the service items wasn't even needed as it all tested out good and so Nicks didn't charge me for that either. Most auto shops would have just done it because I asked for it but Nicks tested the coolant and said it was still good and no need to flush and fill it and charge me for it. They are honest every single time which is rare in this field of business. I recommend anyone to use them and at the very least compare their prices to their current shop. They will give free estimates. Their office manager is a female and always friendly and willing to help. Recommend 10/10.
They were nice people to interact with and most of them certainly have very good intentions. From my experience I could only recommend them for work that is on the simpler side of mechanics and I would not take them any deep or very complex engine repairs. I had my truck checked at Gary’s (my usual spot for the vehicle) because I was having a pretty bad coolant leak; they told me I needed my timing cover gasket replaced and that I should take it to sunset automotive and to be weary because any other place was likely going to ruin my truck…but I was foolish and looking to cut corners on the price however I could. I remembered that awhile back I took a vehicle to nicks to have a simpler repair done and received a price that I could work with so I took it there instead after they quoted me about 2-400 less than sunset and a much quicker timeframe. First, I was told it actually just needed a new radiator cap and they charged me the diagnostic. After questioning them about it and not really believing, I left and changed the cap. About two hours later I drove about 4 miles to work and the car started smoking/steaming so I opened the engine and it looked like coolant had sprayed all over the engine or something I dunno….took it back and had them tell me it was the water pump and I badgered them about it because I knew it was the cover gasket first and they assured me it wasn’t. Then they said I needed a pulley replaced. Asked about the timing cover gasket and they assured me no it’s not that. They put it back together and when I went up there (after hearing no word of status) they finally acknowledged the timing cover leak and said they had to take it apart again. finally got my truck back I drove to work and then somewhere else (about 2 miles total) and the engine just stopped in the middle of driving and I had to pull off and call a tow. Got it back to nicks and the diagnoses was that I needed a new gas pump. Then the timing belt jumped and that needed replacing. Then that didn’t fix it maybe it was a head gasket. Then it wasn’t a head gasket, it was some part they had to special order. But that didn’t fix it either and when I went to start my truck just to see what was going on the engine was shaking and running horribly and they basically said it was done and they thought it would be best if they could try and help me trade it in. After spending what I would have spent to take it to sunset and have the proper repair done the first time(hopefully) I declined and had the truck towed back to my house and sold it. It really really sucked. Could have been bad luck but from the overall experience I got the feeling that someone was slightly negligent in the beginning and then they kept on even after they were in over their heads. They didn’t make me pay for all of that work, but I still shelled out almost a grand on all of it only to have my engine ruined by the end. This was all at the beginning of 2023, my truck was in the shop for a month or a little over? And I had to call them to get updates, instead of the other way around.
The last time I went there (maybe 5/6 years ago) they fixed my car (wheel or axis stuff I dunno) in one day and it was affordable.
I recently decided to have my tires rotated before the winter season. Unfortunately, during the tire rotation, one of the front wheel studs was broken, and a piece of the stud got stuck in the rotor. This caused my car to make a concerning whirring noise, making it seem unsafe to drive. In a hurry and needing my car for work, I visited the nearest mechanic shop. However, they were unable to fix the issue and suggested leaving the car for repair. As a physician on call, it was not possible for me and I needed the car.
Upon my request, the technician called Nick's Automotive for assistance, despite two of their technicians being away. Neil, or the technician whose name I might have misremembered, kindly agreed to help. I drove my car cautiously, not exceeding 10 miles per hour, to Nick's Automotive. I was greeted with a warm and friendly reception. They promptly ordered the necessary parts and managed to fix the issue within 20-30 minutes of the parts' arrival. I was pleasantly surprised that they charged me a very reasonable fee, not taking advantage of my vulnerable situation.
My overall experience with Nick's Automotive last week was excellent, and they have now become my go-to mechanic shop. It's not easy to find a reliable mechanic, but I wholeheartedly recommend Nick's Automotive to others without any reservations.
Ac started blowing warm in my car. First shop quoted me almost $2000. A friend recommended Nicks for a second opinion, their mechanic determined it was only a clogged condenser. Less than a quarter of the first shops quote and a few hours later, my ac is working better than before! Highly recommend this shop to everyone. Very friendly and professional staff.
Kaylob has great knowledge of the fitness and calisthenics world. He worked with my 12 year old on strength, speed, and agility and we saw major improvements and gains. You won’t find a better option for a reasonable price. His energy and personality for well for my kiddo.
