UPDATE: Here I am again 3 years later and the same experience. I weighed everything on a digital bathroom scale before going up there. His scales are definitely rigged in his favor. On top of that they knocked off 18lbs for the 3 plastic totes I used. After seeing the receipt I went back to ask them to fix it. At first he tried to say I switched receipts in my car. The time and date is printed on them. Had to argue with him and his son for like 15 minutes to get him to fix that and even when they finally did they STILL screwed me again on that ticket. The guy in front of me at the ticket window had to argue with them too. He had gotten 2 separate tickets (not sure why) and only got paid for one. Before that even happened that guy warned me to go somewhere else. I'm passing on that warning too. You're definitely better off spending the gas and time to go elsewhere.
BTW I took an extended cab 2001 GMC pickup with engine and trans in it, 22" custom rims which are heavy too and got $283 for it. Had no choice but to leave the rims on because it had lock nuts that someone had jacked up trying to get them off and I didn't want to pull the truck back home again. But seriously, $283 for a GMC sierra extended cab? Yeah they rip you off.
This place is a SCAM. First off, they open later than advertised and close earlier than advertised. Very unprofessional. The first time I came here I felt like they shorted me but I couldn't know for sure. I also got a nail in my tire from their VERY unkept yard. I get it, it's a scrap yard, but damn, they could bulldoze once in a blue moon or something. I had to drive through so much debris I just knew I was going to get a flat. I had plugs in my glove box so I pulled the nail and plugged it. Owner wouldn't even let me borrow a pair of pliers to pull the nail with. He also had no air to refill my tire so I wound up driving it with barely any air in it and had to replace it when I got up to the nearest shop. So the second time, I weighed all my metals up before coming. They DEFINITELY shorted me. I don't think their scales are just off either, I think they intentionally ripped me off. They refused to let me see the readout on the scale and I know for sure they shorted me about 25% on copper, and on the drive-on scale about 700 lbs. And the icing on the cake: They're RUDE. Never coming back here again. What a crappy business. I'm really surprised he has any business at all considering the way the place is run. I'll definitely sacrifice more time and gas money going elsewhere in the future.
Pretty nice with you if your patient and if you ask them about the prices and you're nice to them they ussualy give you top dollar price, you can take a while when its full but ussualy pretty fast
They don't let you see the weight. There kinda unprofessional but are more likely to accept your scrape. May not pay as much as the bigger yards but doesn't under pay either.
The name of the yard is Villanueva motors and recycle,they have a new ower,and are no longer incorporated with midwest engines. This yard pays as good as bigger yards downtown, and i don't usually have to wait for a long time to get in and out.
Me pesaron cable de carros arnes y eran 75 libras me dieron 15 dollar y me rregrece con el de la vascula y le dije que porque tan poquito dijo el que esta mejor pagado es el arnes pues de ece es el que traje o aque me dijo que era lowgrade medio 25 dollar mas pero segun el precio eran 60 dollar o mas ojo mucho ojo nada mas
