Tom and his crew were great! I brought in my F150 with a really odd overheating issue. Called ahead as I’m not a local just passing through big bend. Tom was very quick to look at my truck and provide expert recommendations on what to do going forward. I was really impressed to see tom taking care of his local clients. Clearly Tom isn’t in this business to make money but to help folks out. I also liked how there is no service advisor you are talking to the horses mouth when you talk to the mechanics about your vehicle. End of the day this is how a maintenance shop should be run.
Stopped in during a road trip and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff is knowledgeable, the price was reasonable, and the work was done promptly. On top of that, they were genuinely hospitable. Highly recommended.
Any time your traveling and have an odd issue you worry about finding service. I had an electrical issue Tommy was happy to help me out. Not once but twice.
Having a leaky tire on vacation is no fun! I thought our day would be wasted dealing with it. I was wrong. Terlingua Auto to the rescue!! They took care of patching and reinflating the tire in less than 15 minutes, at a very reasonable price. And everyone I interacted with was very nice.
Tom and his crew saved the day! When my vintage van started to have some serious issues, they got to the bottom of it AND lucky had the exact part that was needed! They are kind, helpful and got me back on the road as fast as they could. Would definitely recommend!
I stopped in for an oil change and the team at Terlingua Auto took care of it quickly and efficiently. The service was straightforward, no hassle, and the staff was friendly throughout the process. We had a problem with our car. They understandably didn’t have the part, but they helped us find the places we needed in Alpine. They called the shops, asked for prices, gave us the directions. Extremely courteous service.
Perfect service & friendly owner/staff. I was experiencing battery issues and they carried my battery type. Even installed it for me and tested my alternator. He noticed I was on a trip & gave my family & I some waters & sodas. He gave us some stickers as well! Definitely the place to visit when you’re in a pinch. Back on the road with car running good. Worth the visit.
Our first full day in the Terlingua and Big Bend area found a nearly flat tire. We put the save a spare on and drove to Terlingua Auto. They fixed our flat and we were back on our vacation in about an hour. Soooo happy with their friendly service and quick response!
Was in a really tough spot with a blown out Tire in Big Bend. Trelingua Auto by some miracle had my one specific tire and saved me and got me back on the road. Absolutely incredible crew took care of me and made sure I had everything I needed with advice on where to go and do next.
We had two issues come up with our van as we entered Big Bend NP. Called Tom’s the next morning and he was able to get us in immediately. Diagnosed both my problems almost quickly and very professional in discussing repair options. Highly recommend !
We got into town and set up our RV. Went to unhook our car and the battery was dead.
Made a desperate call to Terlingua Auto and they happened to have my battery in stock, and since I wasn’t able to get my car to them, they came to me.

Tommy and co. were great to get my truck fixed quick. True heroes in a time of need. The washboard roads had cracked the nib on the fuel pump. The price was fair, the service good, the location good and the conversation fun. Also fun old signs around.
A year later the truck was there again. Leaky valve stem and a broken weld on the y pipe past the converter. No welding skills to be had in time but ingenious solution with an exhaust clamp and a Pepsi can to get us home without waking the neighbors. Again Tommy rose to the challenge like a hero.
Can’t say enough about how wonderful they were for us. Woke up with low PSI in one tire. Pulled up to the auto shop and within 30 minutes we were back to the park!! Thanks for everything.. and.. knowing we were tourist.. they didn’t gouge the price!!
This place rocks and saved me big time. Last week we got a flat tire headed to Big Bend and they patched up my tire quickly, with high quality and a reasonable price. Put another 1000 miles on the car that trip without issue. Would definitely recommend this business

Picked up a flat somewhere in Big Bend NP and stopped by around 9:30 in the AM and found a couple tire repair jobs ahead of us (and about half a dozen folks showed up with the same issue over the next 90 minutes)...staff told us we'd have to wait our turn but everyone was very pleasant and couldn't say enough good things about the guy who actually was fixing the tires...after about an hour wait he got to us and found the leak and had it plugged and we were on our way about 30 minutes later...at only $30 for the service it was a great bargain considering the remote location...this place is a lifesaver and many thanks to the staff... highly recommend, though hopefully you won't need them, lol
The service here is outstanding. We were far from home on vacation hiking Big Bend and our engine was overheating. Tom worked really hard to figure out our issue and did whatever he needed to do to get parts so that we could get home safely. 100% recommend this place. Honest and fair pricing!
I had 2 flats while off roading and needed new tires. I gave Tom a call and he guided me on how to purchase my new tires online and have them shipped to him and he could put them on. I followed his advice and they arrived in 2 days and the next day Tom got me right in and installed them. Very happy with his service and will definitely give him my business again when I need work done. Thanks Tom and the young man who did my tires. Very nice young man.
I woke up at Chisos Basin to find the driver steer tire at 21 psi and a screw in it. I made it into Terlingua and stopped in at 8:05AM right after opening. My tire issue was addressed immediately! I was given a recommendation to patch rather than plug and was able to watch the entire repair process. I was out the door again within 30 minutes and not set back too much $$$. Really appreciated their friendliness and responsiveness for an out-of-towner that was obviously in a tough spot.
Excellent repair shop 10 stars. My jeep broke down in the National Park several miles in back. Not many tow services out there. but these magnificent people from McAllen Texas gave us a ride back to our campground so we could tow it ourselves back to Tommy shop he ordered a new alternator and got there the next day and we were ready to go. Not only luck of good people I won a $50 gift card from the Terlingua chamber of Commerce to help pay for the repair. thank goodness for honest mechanics and good people. We came back to find our car had a dead battery after hiking Big Bend. After getting jumped we thought we were going to have to drive all the way to Alpine to find a new battery given the time of day but Tom saved the day and gave us a call back even though the auto shop was technically closed for the day. He is truly the best, he even stayed later to help us get the new battery in and make sure everything was working correctly!
Tom fixed my broken tie rod and got me back on the road in one day after I limped into his shop. He quickly had a new part delivered and installed it perfectly. Very good price also.
We were on a cross country trip and in Terlingua for a day+ and we had significant brake and tire issues. They went above and beyond to take care of us and ensure we could safely get back on the road. Highly professional and courteous. Chasin and Tommy were the best. Tommy and his assistant were great! I was 25 miles into my 400+ mile / 7 hour trip back to Austin with a low psi in my tire (like 12lbs of the 32 required 😳‼️).
I was early (8AM), so there weren't many in front of me. I had my problem tire assessed and patched and all 4 inflated to specs within 30 minutes!
I was afraid my drive back would be delayed by hours, I was barely off schedule and the price was fair, REALLY FAIR‼️ 😁

We were in the area for 8 days and I realized I needed an oil change. Tom is the only guy in the area so I stopped by on a Monday to see if he could change the oil on my F-150 on Thursday. No problem. He gave me a fair quote and I brought it in and did the oil change for less than the quote. If you’re in the area, Tom is a trustworthy option.
We were recently in the Terlingua area for vacation. As we left the Summit heading to Big Bend, our battery light came on. We had just put in a new battery a month ago so we couldn’t understand what could be wrong. As my husband drove I checked the truck manual and read we really need to have it checked before proceeding. After all we didn’t want to get stranded in Big Bend National Park! Praying that maybe it was just a glitch and would go out (it was very cold that day), we passed Tom’s Automotive. An answer to my prayers! We stopped and the hubs made contact with THE nicest gentleman…you guessed it…Tom. He was busy as evidenced by several cars in the lot but he took time to come check the battery, alternator, cables, everything. It all checked out fine, he said it must have been a glitch and sent us on our way. It never happened again the rest of our trip. Folks, if you need any auto repairs, go see Tom. We were on vacation traveling and had a skid plate coming off of our Ford F150 and stopped at Terilinga auto. The owner met us and diagnosed the problem ran it up on the lift, and had it fixed with no wait Can’t say enough good things about the owner and the service.
