Great experience today at this shop. Just there for a basic oil/filter change. They provided the service very quickly. No sales pitches to get me to do other services, they did exactly as I asked. $10 off coupon for 1st time customer, which was appreciated. Nice, well appointed and CLEAN facility, including the bathroom. Being new to the area I went by location and other reviews, which were decent. I will be back. Thanks guys!
Every time I’ve come in to get an inspection it’s been turned down and for different reason, either their machines are down or the inspection guys not there. It seems like they just don’t wanna do that kind of work, so maybe they should take the sign down That says state inspections.
Have always had great experiences here and wanted to mention Alex by name. I stopped by right as they were closing today, and he could’ve easily asked me to come back tomorrow. Instead he was helpful and cheerful, went back inside and got me lined up. Alex, please accept my apologies for coming in at the last minute, and thanks for getting me taken care of anyway. Do no go here. Went for an oil change, they were very fast, but didn't ask what oil/services I wanted done before doing it. I was charged over $80 for their "premium service" oil change which was not requested. They insisted I needed a new cabin air filter. Checklist says they checked over many parts of the car, however, I know they did not because the wiper blades are 4 years old and falling apart, however they thought the wipers were perfect condition apparently.
I have been using Castrol Premium Rapid Lube off N Texas Ave for over 10 years but recently their service has become less "caring" and the price of my last oil change was exorbitant! For conventional oil no less! I searched for and found Valvoline Express off Rock Prairie Rd & from the first contact I made via phone call to inquire to the actual oil change service the folks there were professional yet personal, the service was VERY QUICK although I will note they became extremely busy while I waited...I had inquired on phone about conventional Castrol... as this was what I always used. Instead of changing without notifying me- I was actually informed of a lack of enough oil I requested but was given option of similar priced oil. I was also given a $10 new customer discount which was awesome! I walked out the door very satisfied, and paid $15 less than my last oil change at Castrol
Chris & Alex are very transparent and don't try to gouge you out of your wallet. Prices are extremely fair and work is very very good. Turn around time wasn't bad at all for what I needed done.

Without getting specific, other places quoted me $5k-$6k more than what I was quoted here for the same work, same warranty and longer turn around time.
They did not try to sell me anything I didn't need.

My daughter came in 4/18/2024 for a state regulated inspection. The gentleman who performed the oil change told her he could not do the inspection because of her brakes. Her brakes are brand new from NTB and this sorry dude tried to upsell us brakes saying we needed them to pass. My bad for trying somewhere new out. Definitely avoid this place at all cost they do shady business. Go somewhere reputable like NTB.
Edit: Despite this bad experience, Valvoline has failed to reach out to discuss this. It's concerning that they feel that this level of customer service is acceptable.
My experience was deeply unsatisfying. Initially, I was optimistic after discussing services and pricing with Tommy, the friendly manager at Valvoline Express, who offered me a reasonable quote for mechanical work.
In my first visit, I waited 15 minutes with no service when Tommy finally emerged from his office and helped me. He did provide great service after that and apologized for the wait, which I greatly appreciated.
However, my next visit to the shop fell even more short of expectations. Upon arrival, I encountered an employee I was told was "the mechanic" who seemed more interested in phone calls than attending to a customer staring him in the face, even blatantly ignoring me after finishing his conversation.
This disregard was especially distressing given my urgent need for the mechanical work, compounded by personal challenges including placing my father in Hospice care. I needed a reliable mechanic to make sure my vehicle is in tip top shape for all of the driving I'll be doing taking care of my father during this time. The indifference shown to me made me feel invisible and highly disrespected as a customer, leaving me with no desire to go there again.
For around 15 years+, I used to always go to this location for inspections and oil changes due to how convenient they are to where I live; not the absolute greatest price for their services, but you'd spend the difference and endure a lot more frustration trying to go elsewhere just to find "slightly" better prices.
Well, I won't be going back there anymore after what happened to me today. I went in for my annual inspection, and they tell me "we're not doing inspections today because it's raining, and it will affect the braking test".
Seriously? You're not going 75mph down the highway, you're in a TINY parking lot going at most 10 - 15 mph. So that's a crock. They just didn't want to do it because it was cold & rainy and they wanted to stay huddled up inside the garage area so that it LOOKS like they're working.
I've been driving for well over 30 years, and I've never heard such a line of drivel in my life when trying to get an inspection done...and yes, that includes getting them done while it's raining. But then again, I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised...this is also the same place that when I last took my truck here for an oil change, they tried to tell me "your cabin air filter needs to be replaced once a month, it will cost $40". You can buy a 2-pack of those cabin air filters for around $15, and they only need to be changed every 12k miles or 12 months! I may have been born at night, but it sure wasn't LAST night.... Id10ts....
Oh well, you lost at least 1 customer, and I hope this review helps to warn others not to waste their time with this place.
So I always go to Valveline for great service. Since we were going to Bryan, we decided to just get it done here. The 1st thing they did was make us get out of the vehicle. I thought this was weird since all the ones I go to let's you stay in the truck. That way, they show you your air filters and ask if you want your tires topped off. Just above and beyond at other places. This place wasn't about that kinda customer service, but no big deal. The real problem was when we discovered they didn't put the oil cap on right, and we lost most of the oil. It was dangerously low. I would not go back to this place. Don't take chances with your motor.
I can not recommend this place enough! The owner.. an older gentleman named Tommy.. VERY kind and personable. As a lady that lacks car knowledge, I never fear they will take advantage of me, try to do more work than necessary, or overcharge me. They have always done excellent work. 10/10 recommend!

We had our oil changed at a local competitor and they indicated we needed multiple services performed. It was going to be very pricey for the 3 services so I did a quick Google search of other places and stumbled upon Valvoline Express. I read the great reviews and my husband and I drove over to give it a try. I will have to agree with another reviewer - the condition of the property took me aback and made me a little nervous as the grass was overgrown and the parking lot seemed unkempt but that’s where anything bad about this location stops. We were greeted by Lance and told him the 3 services we had been told we “needed.” He promptly said well let’s take a look and be sure you really need those services. He came back in and said - y’all are good to go you don’t need anything. What????? Who does this?? You mean you aren’t going to take advantage of us and do the services anyway?? Absolutely in shock. I asked to shake his hand as he gave me a small glimpse of what kindness and honestly look like that seems to not be the norm these days. This establishment earned a customer for life - looking forward to my oil change - see you in 5k! Thank you for being awesome!!
Excellent service in every way! They greeted me at my car immediately, warm reception in the office, quick service with the addition of reminding me that my inspection expiration date was approaching, but zero pressure to go ahead and do that while I was there. I've gone there many times and will continue. I had an oil change done this time.
I have had my oil changes here while living in town as a student. Tommy is very kind and helpful. I always like hearing his stories while I wait. They have me in and out in 15 minutes. I truly trust this place to offer honest work every time. Thank you for everything!
Went there today got my Fiesta Inspection. The Gentleman behind the Counter was very nice and Friendly. I enjoyed listening to him talk about his Grandkid. And the Treehouse he built for him. Nice friendly place. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. I'll go back again.
Pulled in for oil change. It wasn't busy at the time but several cars pulled in behind me. I was out in 10-12 minutes. The gentleman were friendly and fast. Nice and clean waiting area. First time visit but not the last.
Great service! An employee met me as I walked up and asked what I needed...an oil change. He ushered me into the waiting room where I waited about 10-15. When complete, my truck was pulled back around and waiting for me just outside the door. Highly recommend.
My wife and I have been taking our cars to this place for a couple of years now. And the reason for that is they are very knowledgeable and they are nice and understanding. They will help you out any way they can. The owner Tommy is very nice and very up front with you. And that's why I come here with my cars. If they can't do the job Tommy will let you know at the beginning.
While I have never needed my car repaired (knock on wood) I have been going here for years to get my car inspected. This shop has ALWAYS been respectful, kind and has never tried to tell me something needs fixing that doesn’t. Each time I’ve gone for an inspection I just drive right up and I’m usually in and out without having to wait too long. A very honest and friendly shop.
This place gives the best service of anywhere I have ever been in Texas. They even invite you to come get your vehicle checked out before taking a trip out of town-- for FREE. Always friendly, always approaching quickly when you arrive, always fair! I know I sound like a commercial, but all serious opinions. Love this place
Came in for a routine oil change and inspection. The process was quick, staff was friendly and price was affordable ( I opted out of getting the inspection after speaking with staff). However I'm leaving a 2 star review b/c I came in with no service lights on my dashboard while driving home the service tire monitoring system started flashing and has been on since. I called & explained to them what happen, took my truck up there for them to inspect and was informed that it just coincidentally came on? like how? Now I have to come out of pocket to have a sensor replaced that was not even an issue before the oil change or them inspecting my tires. Highly disappointed & unfair!
I just wanted to say that this is by far the best Automotive Repair shop I have ever been to. I have visited Tom at this shop multiple times and have never been disappointed. They do not charge to look at your vehicle or test for problems. I went to have a coolant leak fixed, had work done only to find out the problem origin was elsewhere. I took the truck back and they fixed it again while reimbursing the time spent to fix the earlier session since it was mis-diagnosed. If you have any problems with your truck/car, I 100% recommend this location.
Great business! I was recommended by a friend to try out. Price was fair for a synthetic oil change, oil filter, and air filter. They completed it within 15 minutes. The gentleman in the office talked cars with me, my conversation with him was longer than the service. He also walked a lady through the of service her vehicle and answered questions while waited. Wellll...what can I say. We were 200 miles from home, and started having a little transmission trouble so we stopped at a convenience store for some transmission fluid. Of course they didn't have the right kind, but we added anyway. As we got into College Station, we started seeing a warning message on the dash that our transmission was overheating slow down. We stopped the car and let it cool down. After an hour we completed our drive to my parents house. We decided that we would go to the Valvoline Express Care on Rock Prairie and have our oil changed and have them drain the transmission fluid so we could return home 200+ miles away. We dropped off the car around 4pm, asking for both the oil change and draining of the transmission fluid. We spoke to a service technician who said he would have to order the correct fluid to change it. They would order it from a local store and have it delivered.They took my name and phone number and we left. We returned an hour later to find our car parked out front of the business. I walked inside only to find out that they only did the oil change and decided not to do the transmission fluid drain. I guess the manager decided not to complete the task. He said that I needed to go to a transmission shop. It was after five at that point. We had 200+ miles to drive. I was very disappointed that I didn't even get a phone call letting me know that the service I requested wasn't going to be completed. I changed the fluid myself and went back to Northeast Texas with no problems, other than a three hour delayed start. No bad for a heart transplant recipient!
First off, they were one of last places I called to find pricing. I was so impressed with the customer service over the phone. They were kind and efficient. When I came in they were welcoming and fast. It made my oil changing experience very easy. I’m impressed how kind everyone is and how quickly they greeted me. I was overall very happy with this experience and will be returning for any future needs.
Great experience, very friendly and fast service! Had a coupon and they gave us a better one for being our first time there, cleaned the windows, vacuumed the car and checked other fluids as well for our oil change! Less than 15 minutes highly recommend this place! Coming back for sure!
