I came here because it was highly recommended from a friend. I brought my vehicle in on a Sunday and came first thing Monday morning to bring the keys. I showed them what needed to be done literally I just needed a wire from my hardwired dash camera removed because it was draining my battery. I called Thursday morning asking the status and the owner said that he would have them look at it and it should be done that day. I drove by about 3:30 PM and it still hadn't moved so I walked in and I asked them if it would be done either today or tomorrow otherwise I needed to take it somewhere else because it's already been a week I haven't had my vehicle. The owner wasn't there he was at an appointment and the guy I spoke with had asked all the employees and nobody knew why my vehicle was there. So the guy said he'd have it done that day. I was charged $60.36 for a 10 minute job. I do understand that some shops charge a minimum of an hour no matter if it's a five minute job but that's a little extreme. Then my battery died again and I went to AutoZone and apparently Grainger Auto didn't put the terminal back on correctly and it was hard for Auto Zone to take the battery out. So if you plan on coming here plan for your vehicle to be there for a minimum of a week because l've spoke to other people that their vehicle was there for two weeks without being touched or moved

Thank you John for helping me out. You guys are great. When I couldn't find anyone else to put my hydraulic line for my clutch... You guys did!! Had to drop the transmission to replace the cylinder & line. Truck still runs great. Fair pricing, honest, I definitely recommend! Thanks again!

There's a reason they are constantly so busy and that you'll need to make an appointment in advance. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and our family car is in good hands here. Google has the wrong phone number for them though so we can't go by the phone number Google list. The owner has tried numerous times to get Google to fix it but so far no luck. We're going on 4 years of being happy customers. We so appreciate John and the team.

My wife's car needed transmission work, after calling at least 6 shops in Knox, someone told me to call Grainger auto, and I'm glad I did. John was super nice and helpful, took more time to answer my questions BY FAR compared to the other shops I called. It's a 45 minute drive from my house but very worth it as he was also 10-20% cheaper than thr other shops.

Great people ! They even drove me home because my car needed a special ordered part to be installed tomorrow. New Comment: I had a front tire blow-out on the Highway. Even though they were closed for the night they were still inside. They changed the tire & ordered a new tire. ONCE AGAIN, SAVED BY GRAINGER AUTOMOTIVE !!

Awesome mechanics, only place that works on diesel trucks close to me and that I can afford!!! Very thorough and helpful also a dealer in multiple companies, that helps keep prices lower ie FAS fuel pumps, was my biggie

The owner and staff go out of their way to find out what's wrong with your vehicle. Explain what's required to fix it. Give you reasonable options. Then perform quality, and exceptional work at a reasonable price. The only place I will trust to fix my vehicle.

I would give a lower rating if it were possible. The transmission in my son’s truck went out. We took the truck to Chris at Grainger Automotive. They pulled the transmission and had it rebuilt by a local shop. The day we got the truck back, the transmission did not shift properly. I checked fluid and it didn’t even show on the dipstick. The cylinder in which the dipstick goes into was bent so badly you couldn’t get the dipstick all the way in. I took the truck back to Chris after filling with transmission fluid. He claimed they would check it out and look for any leaks. When I asked about the dipstick he said they did not bend it. One of the mechanics who put the rebuilt trans back into the truck had to damage it as it was not bent when the truck was delivered to Grainger Automotive. A month later, the truck is still there and Chris say it runs so poorly they can’t tell if anything is wrong or not. So, they do a tune up. They pull the trans and it is supposedly sent back to the shop to make sure the work was correctly done. When we got the truck back my son drove it for about 3 weeks and begin having issues with the trans slipping. At this point, he would check the fluid level twice weekly to make sure it was not low. We took the truck back to Grainger and Chris said the catalytic convertor is clogged and needed to be replaced. Another repair and more money and the trans STILL was slipping. After taking it back this time, it is discovered that there is an issue with the manifold. After this repair, there is an issue with pressure (I am not a mechanic) and Chris says it needed a top half engine rebuild. He doesn’t “charge” full price for this rebuild as some of the same parts were changed with the manifold repair. At this point we are coming up on 11 months with the trans issue still not resolved and the warranty for the rebuilt trans is 1 year. Chris assured me that he would take care of the issue. After the engine rebuild, my son drives the truck for maybe another 2 weeks before the trans issue shows up yet again. I call Chris (several times before I get to talk to him as he rarely returns your calls) and tell him the trans is still the issue and that I do not think it is fair for my son to continue to spend money on issues that are not fixing the problem. At this point, my son has spent over $3k, including the original trans rebuild which was around $1600. Chris informs me that he doesn’t know what else to do to the truck and that all repairs he made were actual problems. I informed him that the original issue was the transmission and that it has yet to be resolved. He said he would look at it again but would have to charge any other issues that were not related to the transmission. He had already said that it was going to need a full engine rebuild as the oil pressure was very low. Grainger Automotive had the truck for one year minus 6-7 weeks. At this point, it was past warranty and it was clear he had no intentions of fixing this transmission. The truck would not take overdrive. My son has limped along with the truck (he doesn’t have the cash to give Grainger to”fix” anything else) and tonight he limps it home. It won’t go into third gear. I wouldn’t take a bicycle for repairs at Grainger Automotive. I realize that a lot of people seem to have great reviews but my experience was terrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

BEST PLACE EVER!!! I live about 70 miles from this shop but I happened to be coming into town to deliver some product for one of my customers. Needless to say my truck started to break down when I happened to be a couple miles from this store. Luckily my GPS found this place first as I was freaking out and by the time I pulled in and popped the hood and I had belts in pcs and fluids spraying everywhere!!! Not knowing much about engines the worst went through my mind. Thinking my day was ruined I made my way into the store and the ladies up front were very helpful and pointed me in the direction of Chris the owner of the shop. I found Chris and explained what had happened and he said he would be out in just a minute to take a look at it. As he was looking at it he noticed the problem within seconds and said this shouldnt be a problem to fix as long as a couple things go in our favor.... That sounded fantastic but at the same time I thought it might take a couple days for him to get time to fix it because he already had 4 car's on the rack being worked on and clearly a few already in line to be next and he could say it was any kind of problem and charge me whatever because I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Then I was thinking of who I could call to come pick me up or should I have it towed 70 miles back home.. I was worried and could see all these dollar's racking up in my head. HOWEVER.... Chris said we would let the engine cool down for a minute so he could actually touch it because it was over heating and spitting fluids out just 10 minutes before and once it cooled down he would take a closer look. About 30 min later him and his son come out with a handful of parts and to my absolute amazement he had it fixed in 15 min!!!!! He easily could have said I will call you in a couple days when it's ready because that truck was not leaving on its own but instead he took the time to get me back up and running so I could continue to run my business!!! This was by far the best automotive repair experience I have ever had. Rarely do you find someone that cares like this anymore. Oh yeah, the bill!!!! Sooooo much cheaper than I thought it would be as I easily would have paid a lot more for what he did for me. Even though I live 70 miles from this shop, when I need future repairs to any vehicle and can make it to his shop I will go there!!! If you live in this area you are crazy not to use this place as your auto shop. THANK YOU Chris and team!!!!

Grainger took great care of me. I had two vehicles in the shop for a list of repairs that were completed satisfactorily. They kept me from having to take my care to the dealership to get the engine light off, saving me time and money. I highly recommend Grainger Auto for any needs.

Cost me 4500$$$ to take my car to an actual repair center, after this place tried to do a routine maintenance, they even threatened to call the law and have my vehicle towed if I didn't get it then...Put the gear selector in low drive and went backwards all the way home!!! It wasn't that way when we took it to them!!! Don't trust!!!

Chris and the guys at Grainger Automotive are top notch. Very affordable and took the time to show us what parts had failed and even had a video of the defective part on my van. Great business!
