I'm 40 years old I've used many different tow companies up and down the East Coast for many years for many reasons this particular company takes the cake after 3 days when I came to collect the vehicle I asked for a detailed receipt because I didn't understand why the bill was more than the rate I had been given on the phone she declined to give me a receipt with a breakdown of what I was being billed for with any other charges also showing the difference of an additional $350 other than verbally saying that I needed to compensate them for the fees that they paid at the local courthouse because they assumed I was not coming back from my vehicle and they like to get the paperwork filed because it takes approximately 30 days. No matter how much I disagree with having to pay these fees at the end of the day my bill was over $700 for 2 and 1/2 days in impound and a 3/4 mile tow. I'll be filing the paperwork for suit unless the owners would like to refund these fees to me. Hope this is a once off experience but let's just say I'm so happy I documented mine.

Predatory towing at its finest. They towed my car from Haven Pointe Apartments even though I had a guest parking pass hanging visibly in the car. The only issue? I wasn’t in one of their “designated” guest spots, which are ridiculously few and scattered all over the complex. They charged me $311 to retrieve my car — cash only, no sympathy, no accountability, and absolutely no sense of fairness. When you’re part of a setup that relies on confusing, minimal signage and parking restrictions just to justify taking people’s cars, you’re not providing a service, you’re running a legalized shakedown. It’s obvious they have a deal with the apartment complex to profit off unsuspecting tenants and visitors. This kind of business model preys on technicalities and fine print rather than genuine violations. Take photos of where you parked, the signage, and your pass. Otherwise, you might be the next person paying hundreds just to get your car back for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

They will tow your car even with a parking pass! They get kick backs from apartment complexes at over $300 plus...., depending who you are.

The review rating says it all. This company is out to scam you out of your cash!! They got $266 out of my son in College for parking at a friends apartment. They had the car for less than 12hrs too. If you pay them cash make sure you 1099 them!! I will be doing that. Regardless of why they provided you a service by towing your car so make sure to do it. The IRS will then know they got paid cash. The more people that do it will make for a lovely tax season for this company. Issue a Form 1099-NEC (Nonemployee Compensation)

This place has terrible service. Lied to me telling me that if I don’t pick up my car within 5 days they would start the process of going for my title. Which is fully illegal and then walked that statement back when I called back another day after research. Made poor jokes at my expense when I called to tell them I was coming to get the car. Putting in a complaint to my apartment as well hoping they end the contract with this company. I know tow services are needed but this company is horrible.

Very responsive staff and tries to assist! They get a bad reputation due to people not able to follow the rules, and Dukes Recovery only follows the rules set by communities. Wonderful staff.

Went there today. They were very friendly and patient and I thank them for what they did I was very grateful. I couldn’t believe how kind they were. Thank you so much for your kind words your patience. God bless you.

Bunch of scam artists!! They will tow your car even when you are legally parked. Then they hold your car hostage and force you to pay $160 to get it back. The kicker is they only accept cash. I'm sure the IRS is unaware of most of their "income". They are extremely rude as well. Very shady business that rips people off for profit! Be aware!

Angela went out of her way to make a bad situation fair for both parties. Do not agree with my car getting towed in my own apartment parking lot for a registration that was not expired but they thought it was. However, as I said Angela is very professional and did her best to give us a fair price and make things better. Overall good experience

Stealing cars is not what I call a legal or legitimate business! Towed my car off at apartment complex when half the people parking there are not residents. I get towed for parking in electric vehicle parking. It was the only spot available because other guests parked in reserved parking They don't get towed, but I do. Unbelievable!

Chris was dispatched on the pick up of our work trailer in the pouring rain. He is very professional. Initially the call was the first one I came across on Google. But I will definitely call for Chris first on any future towing needs.

Took my car at 11:59 pm and then had to pay $300 in CASH because of the overnight fees. They are sneaky and tried to say the office called them to get my car when it would have been closed because it was midnight. Also couldn’t do the math for what the price to get my car back, initial $275 for taking my car 2 miles away and then put $43 as the overnight fee but told me it was $300 total. Do not trust these people. The front door is also blocked by 5 U-haul trucks so you are not able to find how to get your car back.

Angela is very very rude even if you are nice to her. They don’t care about people they just care about money. Very sneaky company will take your car over night without warning so you have no form of transportation in the morning. They don’t care if you’re a struggling college student with no money or family to lean back on. They have no empathy for customers. Can’t pay my rent now so thanks! Also was towed out of my own parking spot!

I most definitely will recommend them to anyone!!! These are very helpful and very understanding! They are reasonable on prices ! They are not cheap but they are reasonable! There is nothing in this world cheap nomore! The owner surprised me on how kind and nice she was ! She treated me and my boyfriend like family ! Please don’t let the bad reviews affect y’all doing business with them, at the end of the day you can always please everybody! That’s life !

These people don't care about you or your family, they will sneak up in the dead of night. Take your vehicle, put it in neutral and push it into the roadway on purpose just so they can tow it and charge you $275. The maximum amount allowed by the state of South Carolina and the county of horry. If anybody wants a class action lawsuit contact me. The one night my cameras were not pointing out. They're sneaky. My advice is to chain your drive shaft to a light pole. They are responsible for damage. Hell they would probably pull the whole building down with the chain just to get your extra money or whatever you have left in your bank account. They're contractors. Evil. They're not towman. They are not honest and they are not kind. Keep this in mind when you're on the side of the road and need help. They're there to rob, not help. I wouldn't show them the numbers on my credit card if there were a gun to my head. THIEVES!

While getting your car towed is not a fun experience, Angela helped to make the process of getting my car back easy. She worked with me and my work schedule to make sure that I could get my car back ASAP. Also, the driver (whose name I did not get, sorry!) met with me after my shift and made the process even easier for me after a very long day.

Went to my buddies house to dodge the heavy rain. Stayed for 2 hours and had my car towed about 6 min away and charged $257. $257 for a 6 minute tow is extortionate and it seems like they target the coastal crowd for daddy's money. Door was locked so they had to open it for me, shop is inconveniently located. Shop smelled weird too. Man was friendly so that's where the one star comes from. Also insanely sketchy that they only take cash and charge outrageous prices but their shop is dingy and the lot is small. That leads the question of where that money goes.

Tows cars even with the parking passes present!!!!! Of course only accepting cash, and comes in the middle of the day while family and friends are dropping things off/ emergency circumstances. I'm familiar with towing services, and I have never seen such unprofessional work in my life. Very rude, and disregarding to everyone they approach. Blocks cars in the lot just to get their money... Ridiculous.

If you want a trashy company, then hire these people. They are rude and will not reason with you. Why would you tow a car that has a parking sticker on the dashboard? This person has lived in the same apartments for 7 months and never had a problem till this company decided to tow the vehicle. The parking pass doesn’t fit on the mirror of this vehicle therefore has put it on the dashboard. The apartments will be loosing several attendants due to this towing company.

Very unprofessional!!!!!!! Just towed my son’s car which is 21 and he can’t park in the driveway until my husband gets home . I went there and he had a gun with his hand on it and the lady comes yelling and cursing me to get back in my car and back up closing the gate. I said my son had to be at musc in the morning he said so same sad story everyone gives ! Then he told me if I come back out there and you’re car is near the road he will pull it too! $251.00 to get it out! They also got the neighbors car too !!!!! She is watching a disabled person . They are very trashy pulling our vehicles without lights and we’re going over 40 mph. How is that safe in our neighborhood to go that fast when the parked car wasn’t hurting anyone!!!!!!!!!!

I know impounds are never a pleasant experience however, Due to a momentary lapse in memory (lol) our Jeep was towed from our apartment lot last night. The staff at Duke’s are very professional and easy to work with when we went to pick it up. They definitely made the unpleasant situation more tolerable for us.

Their sign is not clearly posted and they scalped everyone going to the coastal game that parked by Marcos pizza on 544 they know what they are doing myself and everyone else in the parking lot probably 30 people had to show up immediately after the game with 200 and something in cash or wait until Monday to get your car back and be charged more watch the next coastal game as they tow everyone through out the game really sad that's how you chose to make money hope somebody with more pull than me at least gets to you put up signs not just one where sits between the parking lots of the apartments and the shopping mall which makes it unclear! should be against the law to make people pay that when you can't see it or understand what parking lot it's for but as I hear you have your ways

Me and my friend were out at our local bar. We were then informed by the bouncer that a car was being towed. My friend who was in a wheel chair with an up to date, legal handicap plaque was parked in the handicap spot. When going out the tow truck was behind her car trying to to tow it, and apologized as soon as he saw her in a wheel chair. If he were to take 5 more seconds to inspect the handicap plaque this would have never happened and this is atrocious service. Please do better next time and do your job instead of trying to steal money from people by towing illegally. Thanks.

I understand their job is to tow cars without proper parking permits but these people LIVE OFF over-charging college students. Was charged $242 for towing the car less than 2 miles. Other people I have talked to have been charged $150-$300. I believe they look at you and your car before walking in and see how much they can get from you. Couldn’t even argue because prior reviews said they pull guns out and wasn’t going to risk it.

This is the WORST company! They target the college students and their visitors! My son was visiting and they towed his car 2 miles and charged him $242!! Absolutely ridiculous! They need to be shut down! Not professional at all. When I called to ask why they charged so much and why did they tow the car, the "girl" was rude and very unprofessional! I would say "lady" but that would be giving a compliment. She kept telling me I needed to take it up with the business that tells them to seek out cars to tow but hung up on me when I asked who that would be. Maybe people need to start filing civil law suits against them!!!!!

I’m a secruity officer and was told I could park in the front of the property seen in picture. As I was patroling I saw some bearded 🧔 shining a light in my windows. I hurried to put up my items up before he puts his plan into action. When I came back out and approached, he asked if it’s mine then suggesT that I park else where. I should’ve told my supervisor about this but I guess it didn’t come to mind. so yesterday was ok. But today 3/3/22 I was towed and stranded in a city I only work in. Where I don’t know a soul!!!! My wallet is in my van! That was stolen! WTA! Nocturnal vermins! Bet not charge me

As a resident of coastal club, I had a friend that needed to park in a guest spot. When I saw him towing in the front I asked him if those spots were still for guests. He said no and I kindly asked him where the others were. I was expressing to him that I didn't understand why there were not many guest spots(not saying it was his faults, it is coastal club's) he quickly screamed at me and was very rude. When i went to walk away he put the car in gear and inched up as i started to walk in front of it. Extremely rude and I felt very unsafe. Do not use this company for any reason. It is awful.

Attention college students and anyone reading this post! My son parked his vehicle in the visitor parking at Monarch Apartments last night. Duke's towing towed his vehicle and had to go get it today at 1:00. He video recorded this interaction with a member of the company today. They told him that the visitor parking was only available until 7:00 pm. There are NO SIGNS that state your vehicle will be towed if you're parked there after 7:00 pm. I'm not sure of who's in cahoots with who but I plan on taking it alot farther than they're used to. Charging these kids $160.00 a pop when there is clearly no signs stating that your vehicle will be towed after 7.00 pm. I went there today and took pictures of the Monarch visitor parking and my son has the Duke's towing company on video stating that's why he was towed. BBB has already been contacted and that's just the beginning.

So we broke down and had to be towed as we were heading to Myrtle Beach for vacation. Our insurance company sent us to Dukes. They were so very helpful!! Mike was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help us out. He used his personal vehicle to carry all 5 of us as well as towing our vehicle!! He also tried to help us fix our vehicle. Tiffany was very professional on the original call to help accommodate us and our situation.!! You guys rock and Jerry and I will be recommending your company!!

My car was towed Saturday at 1:50 am. I called to see if they had my car and asked the woman on the phone how much it would be. She said $160 and when I asked if there was any chance the price could be reduced after I explained her my situation, she said no. Understandable, it's a business you gotta do what you gotta do, but what she failed to tell me was that they charge $25 per day as a storage fee. As a broke college student I could not get the money right away, not knowing that it would end up costing me more. They only accept cash so I went to the bank and got the 160 and headed there Monday to get my car. When I arrived I was told I needed to pay 210. I explained to the woman at the desk that I had spoken to someone over the phone who did not explain to me that there was a storage fee. Along with this fact, their office hours show that they are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The woman at the desk explains that they come in on Sat and Sun from 1-3 as a "courtesy" so people can get there cars, and that if I would have come then they wouldn't have charged me the 25. 1) Y'all don't have a website where that information is listed, and 2) why was that not explained to me over the phone when I called and literally asked how much it was? Absolutely ridiculous and seems extremely illegal and sketchy. The woman at the desk did end up taking off one day of storage fees, but still messed up and uninformative place that targets broke college students.
