Had a car emergency on a road trip and these guys had the issue fixed in 30 minutes for a great price. Didn’t even need an appointment 10/10 would recommend.

July 2025 Update: I posted this back in 2023. Now, in 2025, Chip and his team of top notch mechanics have again proven to be the best in the area. Given my most recent issue with my Honda CRV, I think they’re also one of the best at DIAGNOSING! Top Shelf across board! Old Post: As new residents to the Hilton Head area and recently retired, my wife and I tried to research the best possible auto mechanic to work with for the long run. The area seems to have several reputable car repair businesses, but one stood out for its consistent 5 star reviews and a high level of customer satisfaction. RS Auto Repair is at the top of the class as far as I'm concerned and I'm glad that we hooked up with Chip. He reminds me of a dear friend up north who passionately restored Indian motor cycles. Quality work, attention to detail, and a fair price, all done in a timely manner. Bottom line: Chip and RS Auto Repair are a great choice! 5 STARS!

It's difficult to find a auto repair shop when there are so many. However. We are so fortunate to have found RS Auto Repair! We have brought our 2016 Jeep Cherokee in now two times. Chip, the owner and the service technicians are professional and they get the job done right the first time. Ethical and honest and no guessing and no suprises.if you don't need the service, they'll tell you. Thanks for great work!

We had a trip from fort lauderdale to hilton head island with my wife's truck and as i started to drive it felt very bouncy and the brake were noise, so i looked up a local shop RS auto. They replaced all 4 struts and strutmounts on the front. They checked the brakes and replaced all rotors and pads. My wife trucks runs lot smoother and stops on a dime. Brought in a leaky transmission that the mechanic back home missed and a second one on the island found but couldn't fix. RS Auto Repair fixed it same day for a reasonable price. I can drive home a lot less nervous now.

Had an oil leak shortly before a long road trip and they squeezed me in and found the problem within 30 mins. Problem was fixed quickly and I was on my way. RS is now my go to auto repair in Hilton Head.

I have used RS Auto many times for oil changes. Laz is fantastic! He is kind and so helpful. There is no one I trust to maintain my car more than him. He is honest, answers questions in a way that is easy to understand & is very thorough. Today my car would not start and he managed to get me in quickly and was able to solve the issue with ease. His knowledge is unmatched and he truly goes above and beyond my expectations every time. RS Auto is truly lucky to have him on the team. This is a first class operation! We were visiting in Hilton Head and started having some car trouble. I searched for a car repair place to take it and found RS Auto Repair. There were lots of good reviews of their business so I took a chance and called them. They were able to see me that day and did a quick check on the problem I was having. They were able to fit me in just two days later to fix the problem they found. When I brought my car back, they did the work while I waited, which took exactly one hour as they had estimated. After I left, the same problem started up again after a short time. I called them and they told me to bring the car back for a look. When I got there, they took another look at it but it wasn't having the problem at that time so I left again. I got a call later that day asking me to bring the car back again because they'd done some research on the problem I was having and found another more serious possible cause. When I got there, they did a few more tests and sadly found out that it was instead the more serious problem. They replaced my original parts from the earlier work since that wasn't the issue after all and refunded my money. As he said "It was the right thing to do". I agree! I can't recommend this shop more highly! They know what they are doing and will go the extra mile to make sure they take good care of your car. If we lived in Hilton Head or anywhere close by, we would definitely be taking our cars to RS Auto Repair. As for my car, we'll be seeing our regular mechanic when we get home and decide what we're going to do about my car.

We had an emergency car repair needed before driving back to Atlanta. They were able to fit us in and get the part quickly for my Honda Odyssey. Very professional and sensitive to travelers. Hightly recommend.

We had an issue at the start of vacation with our driver seat being stuck and unadjustable. After a phone call to RS auto repair we were in and out with everything fixed in under half an hour from the phone call. Great service and results and awesome for getting us in with no wait for a quick fix.

We had a tire light come on during a journey to Hilton Head. We took our car there first thing Monday morning. They identified a faulty tire plug ( done a home a few weeks ago.) and took the time to immediately fix. They were attentive and professional. We are so grateful

Shortly after arriving on HHI for vacation, the air conditioning in our family car failed; without an appointment, the kind folks at RS Auto took care of the entire A/C system replacement (with new factory parts, but far better rates than a dealership!) within 48 hrs; then patiently walked us through the entire repair including showing us the failure on the old parts they’d removed; highly recommend this shop, both for locals or if you’re here on vacation as we were; thank you Chip & Laz, you’ve earned every bit of 5 stars.

I needed an emergency diag on our van while finishing our vacation on the island. This was the only place willing to help on a moments notice, and they went above and beyond. They told me what needed done and even searched to try and find the part I needed to have replaced. All without an appointment! Super thoughtful, courteous, and quite simply an excellent experience. Can't say enough about it.

Your truck breaking down on vacation is not a great start to the week. However, we found this shop and were very happy with their work. Everything they did and said made sense. Everyone there was very kind. Les was communicative. It ended up needing to be a fairly extensive repair and in the end, we were thankful they were the ones to do the work.

Use this place if you want great, reliable service. Everyone here was so kind! They got my car fixed fast, and it wasn’t super expensive. They took the time to show me what was wrong and informed me of the different possibilities causing the problem. Very genuine people!

Grateful is an understatement! Being 9 hours away from home and having my brakes go out was so stressful and horrifying to me but from the moment I called them to the moment I left, they treated me with nothing but compassion and excellent service. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and then safe once we got back on the road. That is so important when you're traveling with your 2 teenagers. We appreciate everything!!

6 stars!! Came in thinking I needed a new alternator based on what AAA told me— Glen and Chris quickly opened up the hood and diagnosed the issue as a loose battery connection. 10 mins later they had the problem resolved with a part they had in the shop. Rather than taking an easy opportunity to up-change me, they instead were super honest and helped me get my Jeep going for about 99% less than the quotes I got from other shops on the island. Our family will come back to RS anytime we need service in HHI.

Being a local family business owner in Bluffton. It's nice to find another business that takes pride in their quality of workman ship. I have a 40th Anniversary edition Corvette that needed a new clutch. I was charged $1,300 dollars at a local Corvette dealership and told that its running perfect. 3000 miles later the clutch went out again and they wanted more money to fix the same problem. Needless to say I fought them and to them to fix it again on something I payed to get done right the first time. They fixed it. 3000 miles it went out again...No More! So I took it to Chip @RS Auto. The work was done in a timely fashion and the problem was finally fixed for 3/4 under the original dealer price. Thanks Chip and the crew at RS Auto. Proud to wear their RS Auto logo t-shirts around town.

Traveled to Hilton head for vacation. I drive a tundra with custom oversized wheels. They are one of the only places I could find to rebalance my tires. Quick, good pricing, excellent customer service, and excellent results. Got me in the day after I called, rebalanced and rotated my tires and had a much smoother ride on the way home.

On my way to beach I heard a noise every time I stopped or slowed down. I arrived on Hilton Head Island with no rear brake pads. I stopped at RS Auto Repair for my repair. The gentlemen were so nice and friendly. I think they could tell my stress level was up with worry. I traveled a long way here and I was too afraid to return home with no brakes. RS Auto was Awesome. I really appreciate their polite service and competitive prices. I would recommend to anyone needing repairs in area to try RS Auto Repair first. GREAT SERVICE! Not bad on the eye sight either!

Can’t ask for a better team of professionals. Without a doubt the best body shop in the low country. I am stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort and am more than willing to drive to the island to have my truck worked on by Chip and his crew. Top Notch
