Awful customer service. After being laughed at by one of the employees, I called 15 times to complain and no one answered the phone. I guess when you’re the only place where people can dump things you can do whatever you want and treat people however you want and it doesn’t matter. I think it’s kind of unacceptable.
The HH Solid Waste & Recycling Center is amazing! The people working there are friendly and helpful, and they accept almost everything. What a great resource for the community and a great way to keep the island clean.
This place is regularly closed on days it is supposed to be open. Would it be too hard to put a notification on this web site if site is closed on additional days?
Most people there are very helpful and always in a great mood except one short older woman there that always seems that she hates everyone and hates being there.
The system works rather well. Only on some occasions have I seen cars backed up to offload. The employees could be more helpful directing cars into and out off slots.
I don't understand why Contractors can unload at the publicly taxed HH waste center? Yes there is a sign that says NO CONTRACTORS - but when waste center employees are asked WHY the contractors are STILL dumping here - the response is "contractors or not - if they have a pass they can unload"
How are CONTRACTORS getting passes? IF contractors are using passes from private citizens - why are those private citizens passes not being REVOKED? Does the town even care??????
Arrived at 12:55 pm today and employee blocking drive to convenience center.
Said cars inside would be gone by 1 pm!!
County hours state OPEN to 1 pm, not employees go home at 1 pm.
If county can’t police simple operating hours, makes you wonder how everything else is run…??♂️??♂️

They started requiring a sticker approved for residents last year. This is the first time I was able to take advantage. Very nice people I appreciate the staff there. And things moved along just fine.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Awesome to see so many residents and visitors diligently recycling and leaving gently used items for others to reuse. Good community feel.
They checked our phones for decals and moved everything along. it's great for recycling and for getting rid of your trash and cardboard. I hope they don't eliminate the Hilton Head solid waste recycling center.
Special stations for paper, glass, heavy paper, plastics, cans as well as garbage, heavy cardboard,furniture. Electronics , lawn debris and paint. Excellent waste disposal site.
This is the Disney World of Dumps! They've got it all! There are people who smile and offer to assist. There are stations for every dumping need from cardboard to paint. So grateful for this facility!
Very convenient place to properly dispose of everything.
However, I have yet to find the employees helpful or friendly. They just sit around. I’m not sure what their duties are.
Easy, drive-up self service center. Employees are available if you have questions on where to properly dispose of items(not to direct traffic). Very convenient for a FREE service. Thank you to the county and its employees for providing this!!!
Called about tv disposal, the woman said that the electronic round up was last weekend. How was this advertised because no one I know knew about it, nor could she give me any information about any other methods of disposal or any other scheduled disposal dates.
