I was brought to this site by my father in 1970.....we watched a reenactment on the First Day of Action site at night. After i grew up, survived 4 combat tours and a federal response to the NYC WTC site, I brought my children here in 2005. It is 2025 now, and the children are adults. They still have fond memories of the sunny day historical military portrayals and black powder smoke. Annual reenactments need to continue....they educate the public and preserve local and indigenous history.

Was bigger than I thought it would be lots of different makes and models to see. My wife found the car she wants for Christmas a 67 Camero. May have to work some major overtime to make that happen LOL
I’ll admit I was initially unsure how much there would be to see at Bushy Run Battlefield, but it completely exceeded my expectations. I visited with my family, including two 11-year-olds, and we all had a fantastic time.
After checking in, we were warmly welcomed by a volunteer named Betsy, who was absolutely wonderful. She guided us through the visitor center and even drove us around the battlefield grounds. Her knowledge and enthusiasm brought the history to life and made the experience incredibly engaging.
We’ve visited many historic sites throughout Pennsylvania, and this was easily one of the best in terms of value and overall experience. The history surrounding Pontiac’s Rebellion is fascinating, and the site itself is well-maintained and beautiful to explore.
We left feeling like we had discovered a real hidden gem. Highly recommend a visit—especially for anyone interested in colonial or Native American history!
Wonderful park, with many marvelous trails that are easy to walk. I used to love running the trails in my youth. The museum is very nice, and always very clean. Nice staff, and very friendly.
Had a very good experience here, primarily due to our tour guide, Jim. He did a great job providing the history that lead up to the battle, including the reasons that the Native American groups in the region felt they needed to push back against further encroachment. He was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. The monument on the grounds is also impressive.
This is a wonderful place to visit! Even if you just go to walk around. The reenactment they have in August is worth seeing! The people/historians are very knowledgeable! It's worth visiting!
Great experience and the tour guide of the museum was super knowledgeable!! Learned so much and there was a ton of interesting information. Also love the trail, there isn’t anything else like it near by!
Took my students here on a field trip. The staff was exceptional! I mean they were top notch. The State needs to send them more money and support. No doubt about it. This place is a hidden gem in Western PA and needs to be protected and preserved.
When we arrived, one worker took us on a tour inside the museum, telling us the history and the culture of the era, and about the battle. Then he put on a short documentary for us that taught about the battle in greater detail.
After the documentary, another worker took us on a ride on his golf cart, showing us the location of the battle sites. He was extremely knowledgeable of the history in the area, he was also very personable and made us feel welcome.
We also saw they had a nice gift shop where we purchased a souvenir of our visit, and we see that they engage in a lot of activities for the local community. Definitely had a great experience here.
Staff were some of the nicest people I've ever met. The tour was top tier and worth the money. Can't wait to come back to see the reenactment. I think our guide's name was Jim, he was very nice. Could tell he loved this place.
Hiked on a brisk 32°F Saturday afternoon . Did the blue and green paths. Some trails were blocked by down trees but with care you can pass over it.
Not many myco forms, but I found these tiny fungi and a lightning-struck tree. I also observed many ? boxes. Muddy and slightly hilly
A must see in the area! The landscape is beautiful. There are many trails and a meadow you can walk through. The museum is self guided and free, with a short movie explaining what took place there. For $5 a person you can take a golf cart tour with a guide. Well worth it!!
Beautiful trails to walk on, all pretty early. Most trails are large and are covered in small pebbles, there are shoot off trails with the au natural look, smaller. Didn't get to venture off onto those today. Family friendly, including dogs. Will be back again!
Every person at this event was extremely friendly and welcoming. from the parking attendants. Concession stand workers .museum personal and all the reenactors . The reenactors period attire was extremely detailed and takes you back as close as possible to being in that time period as possible. The
Reenactment was very realistic and entertaining. People of all ages all had a great time stepping back into time .
For $5, you get a self-guided walking tour through a very informative and well-curated museum, as well as a guided golf cart tour of the battlefield. The museum director is a great conversationalist and knows his history, and the tour guide we had that drove the golf cart was fun to listen to and told the stories of the battlefield in a very engaging way.

Bushy Run Battlefield Park is a historical park that is operated by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) and the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society on 218 acres (88 ha) in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was the site of the Battle of Bushy Run fought on August 5–6, 1763 during the Pontiac's Rebellion. The battle was a major victory for the British and enabled them to secure their control of the Ohio River Valley and what was to become the Northwest Territory. Bushy Run Battlefield Park was established as a Pennsylvania State Park in the 1920s and became a National Historic Landmark in 1960. The Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5:00 pm, during the months of May–October. The Visitor Center hosts a museum exhibit entitled, "The March to Bushy Run", a theater, a gift shop and battlefield tours. Bushy Run Battlefield Park is the only historic site or museum that deals exclusively with Pontiac's Rebellion. Battle reenactments are held annually on the first full weekend of August.[4] The park is on Pennsylvania Route 993 near Harrison City and Jeannette.
After learning about this is my History of Pittsburgh class I wanted to see it for myself so I set out on a warm spring day and I was glad to see everthing in good shape and well cared for. I didn't enter the visitors center but I did walk the trails which are marked with historic plaques to read. It's worth a visit
This museum might be small but the battlefield it sits on is quite large. Inside the visitors center you will see artifacts from the French and Indian War. It is well maintained and well kept. It is a reasonable price to learn the history of this site. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and some are dressed in historical costumes. Plenty of parking and public restrooms are available. This is a PA historic and museum commission site.
