I scheduled a brake service appointment after receiving a brake fluid message. The team called ahead to see if I could come in earlier, explaining that depending on the issue, they might need to keep the car overnight if I arrived at my original time. I really appreciated the proactive call and the transparency. I was able to come in early, and after a short wait, they let me know everything was fine—the message was just a routine service reminder. It was such a relief to hear there was nothing wrong (and no big bill!). I’m very grateful for the care and thoughtfulness the team at the Glenside location showed. I’ll definitely return in the future if I need service.

The recent snow has proven more than a challenge for many drivers including myself. I drove over a mound of snow near the curb only to discover the snow had frozen and become ice. In the process I ripped the protective liner away from the bottom of my vehicle. So, I took the car to trusty Pep Boys auto repair in Glenside this past Saturday. The friendly young man at the desk offered to have a look at my problem as soon as a mechanic was free. A few minutes later I noticed my vehicle being driven into an open bay and hoisted up on a lift. The mechanic looked over the damage and went to work. About 30 minutes later the repair was completed and the car was back in the lot. The job was done expeditiously and in excellent manner. Pep Boys has provided excellent service and care for our two cars for many years.

The staff in Glenside were so friendly and so efficient and professional. It was a great experience. I will be back.

UPDATE >> My review started here: I got a flat tire while visiting a friend (2hr 45m away), called on a Saturday to check availability, but they were honest about the wait time (2-3hrs), which wasn’t going to work with my schedule. I reached out later that day, and was able to schedule a tire patch appointment for the following day. The phone and in person communication was direct, clear & honest, and the service was fast!! They even let me know that I had a few tail lights out (and how much it would cost if I got a ticket)! It was kind of them to let me know! I was so grateful I didn’t need to buy a new tire, since the tire wasn’t even a year old!! BACK IN MARYLAND (AND MOMENTS AFTER LEAVING THE ABOVE REVIEW) >> I went to check my car in the garage (haven’t driven it since arriving home on Monday), and we discovered that the “patch/plug combo” had “unplugged” itself (see pics below). My partner, who is a retired mechanic, mentioned that sometimes when a nail/screw goes in at an angle, it makes it a skosh more difficult to fix, and this was one of those situations, where my tire had a screw lodged into it at an angle. Anywho, my partner was able to plug it, though I was hoping the patch/plug I paid for would work. He had additional thoughts, I’ll simply share photos below. The tire service work got me home (2hr 45m drive), thought it didn’t last…at all. I haven’t called them back yet, but if I received some sort of a refund, I would consider that a positive step in customer service and I would update my rating and add a note within the review that mentions such. (Started as a 5, went down to a 2)

My service experience at the Glenside PA location was a good one, as I had them perform my annual PA inspection on my 2020 BMW X3. I will be going back for future services.

Worked with Mike after ordering tires from an online tire broker who didn't bother to communicate to Pep Boys that they would be installing my tires. Mike worked diligently and intelligently to contact the elusive company and make sure that the tires that had delivered without any info to Pep Boys could be installed and they would make sure to transfer my prepaid installation fee to Pep Boys. He worked with me on scheduling the installation when it worked for me and the work was done well. After so many impersonal online transactions, it was so valuable to work with a knowledgeable people-person like Mike. Bravo.

was told i needed 2k worth of work when i went in for an inspection. really? they say actually, no, its just the fuel cap because its “leaking all over your engine” and is a fire hazard. hmmm. im suspicious but ask how long it will take. they say i need to leave it overnight to get fixed. i need my car and cant do that. end up taking the car to my trusted mechanic in s philly and guess what? none of the work was needed to pass inspection. thank goodness i was suspicious. ill be contacting the state about this.

Look at the other posted reviews for their state vehicle inspections. We had the same absurd experience here as well, they tried charging $60 for wiper blades to pass inspection… attempted $45 upsell for cabin air filter… refusal of plugging tire and forcing the purchase of a new tire yet we got we got it plugged down the street, over priced rear brake replacement. The list goes on…do yourself a favor and do it yourself or go to your local mechanic and bypass this corporate disgrace of trying to take advantage of their customers. Honesty and fair pricing goes a lot further than a quick buck.

Replaced the battery and auxiliary battery in my jeep grand cherokee. Surprised cause they had both of my batteries in stock so i didn’t have to wait for parts to ship. Much cheaper to replace battery here than a jeep dealer. Dropped the car off late morning without an appointment and they were done mid afternoon.

Corporate and location fails to file a warranty with manufacturer. Part has a lifetime warranty and told me pepboys need to file it since they installed and will happily send a new one. Place is lazy and unwilling to do their job. Reply: why would I waste more of my time contacting you. You have my information and no one has followed up from corporate on several emails

Troy and Basil helped me out of a wierd flat tire situation. They made it so easy and went out of their way to get me a new tire and get it done fast. Will definitely be back .

highly recommend Pep Boys. Aaron, Mike, and his team are extremely knowledgeable and were able to fix the issue quickly. Aaron also provided me with some pep talk which was much appreciated which shows they care about their clients.

Brought my car there for a tire plug, after waiting an hour, he tells me they won’t fix it because it was “too close to the side wall” and would only sell me a new tire.. the screw was 2 grooves in. Went across the street to Santilli’s; fixed and on my way within 10 minutes.

Went to Pep Boys recently and had a great experience. They took care of me and my vehicle when I brought it in for some minor maintenance work. All of the workers were friendly and helpful when I asked questions. I felt that they were trustworthy and had reasonable prices. This is going to be my auto shop while I am living in Glenside.

Mike who I assume is in some sort of management has always been downright rude to me and other customers. I used to go to this location for all of my service and deal with the rude behavior from him and the other assistant manager, but then took my business elsewhere when they kept complaining about my bike rack on my car. I recently went back to this location as I like to do business in my neighborhood but was met with the same behavior from Mike. Mike said "My techs can't work around the bike rack. If it falls and they are injured it will be your responsibility." He has also told me that he can not inspect my car due to a bike rack being present. The rack is DOT approved and has been present for services in his shop and multiple other area shops. Mike seems to not like cyclists and seems to not have faith that his techs can manage around a car without being injured by a bike rack. I wouldn't want him on my team and I can't see sending my family cars there in the future.

Firt and last visit at this location. First, Assistant Manager, white male, having conversation using term "Indenture servant "with other white people he was talking to while I was in waiting room. Second. threw my personal things out my glove compartment on passenger floor, WHICH, they NEVER put back in my glove compartment. The Assistant Manager offered to put my thing in my glove compartment. Why? Obviously, whomever was working on my car didn't care about throwing my personal items on the passenger side floor of my car floor and leaving them there I cleaned it up. Oh, such disrespectfulnrss. Third, I took in one full bottle and a 2nd 1/4 bottle of windshield wiper fluid for my car. Well, to my surprise, there was only a tiny bit of windshield wiper fluid that came out. Store manager suggested maybe you have a leak in the pipe. Never Ever have I had a problem like this at Stenton and Washington Lane Pepboys location. NEVER!!! The moral of this story is let Pepboys on Stenton and Washington Lane handle my car service because Glenside County Pepboys let me no straight up how they felt about me being there without ssying a word but through their actions. Y'all, don't worry this black female got your point. Not conin' theree anymoe. Remember, Kama, is no joke. Okay. Have a nice day.

They say every car has a story, and for Mini Cooper, the stories are more often mysteries. I broke the key fob plastic housing when replacing battery. Bought new fob housing, but couldn't put it back together. I tried the shop where I have car inspected, as well as a place I had a tire changed, no one wanted to deal with it. Thank you to Aaron and Troy, who took on what turned out to be a lengthy challenge, and refused to give up! Very grateful to have a brand new secondary key fob, as well as a new place to do all my routine maintenance. Looking forward to working with this excellent team.

I had a great experience with the team at Pep Boys! They were friendly, quick, and clearly knowledgeable. It was a breath of fresh air compared to my visit at Mavis Tires in Abington, where I was told it would take 2–3 hours just to inspect my brand-new Tesla Model Y—with less than 100 miles on it. Pep Boys got me in and out without the runaround and treated me with respect throughout the process. As long as I’m living in Pennsylvania, this will be my go-to spot. They’ve definitely earned a loyal customer!

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR HERE. I left my car to be inspected. I was walking home and one of the employees was drag racing my car up the side street and drove right by me. I called the shop and got no answer, so I went back up there. When I got there I told the manager what I experienced and he blew me off like it didn’t happen. This was a Saturday, so Monday I called and spoke to the general manager Mike. He told me there is nothing he can do if I don’t have proof like pictures etc. I wanted his manager and he told me he didn’t have one. So I told him I was going to call headquarters. He said go ahead and it would be routed back to him. It was a horrible. I wanted some kind of compensation, got nowhere. Employee admitted he was dogging my car too. They let their employees do anything to your vehicle, so stay there when getting serviced. Too young employees, don’t take their job seriously.
