What clients say about Sadleirs Automotive in Wayne Township (PA)

Absolutely horrible service tow guy does not care about your car. Could at least be a little more considerate no matter the situation. Learn more about business etiquette and maybe your reviews wouldn’t be so bad. Then you might get more customers and you could afford a better looking shop🤡🤡

Please understand that the negative reviews are from people who have had their cars towed by Sadleirs when they didn't want it (parked illegally). In July 2025, my son was driving our old minivan when it suddenly stopped in the middle of the road with an electrical issue. The police came and wouldn't let him wait for AAA (who gave a time estimate of 2 hours to get there) and Sadliers was called for the tow. Tom called and told me it was an alternator problem and gave me a price which was in the ballpark of what my regular mechanic told me to expect. He replaced the part and got us going again. He gave me a separate receipt for the towing and let me know I could probably get reimbursed by AAA (which I did was able to get). All this was frustrating but got done without issue but THIS is the reason he gets 5 stars. In November, we noticed the lights on the car flickering a bit. I dropped it off at my regular mechanic who said the alternator is overcharging the battery. I took it back to Sadleirs and without hesitation, he replaced the alternator AND the battery without question or billing. The first problem wasn't with workmanship but a defective part. Tom took ownership of this and made everything right. You can't be in a business like this for a long time in Wayne without being honest and fair. Tom is both.

Tom Sadleir, the owner, and his crew took good care of my car after an accident, towing it to their lot. They covered up a window that had been broken in case it rained. Tom gave me information about getting a release form from Radnor Township and showed me how to get to the building. Getting towed is a bummer, and not inexpensive, but overall it worked out well at Sadleir's.

Take all the negative reviews with a grain of salt because they're all people who illegally parked and had to be towed, they're angry, naturally. Sadleirs Automotive/Towing is a long established business, involved in the community, does good work, is reliable, honest and has fair prices.

Will destroy your car by towing it in park. Pretty much will hire anyone these days, possibly a slow individual who will most likely cost you thousands of dollars in damages.

Tom Sadleir is an honest proprietor. Sadleir's Automotive is a small shop that does good work at a fair price.

Tom has always treated us in a fair, professional manner. I trust his advice with all our vehicles, in addition both his and his fathers decades of community service is commendable. I have been going there for more than a decade with no complaints and will continue to do so.

I have known Tom for almost 10 years. He has been servicing my car, and several of my clients vehicles on my recommendation, and they see for themselves how hard he works. He has always been honest, professional and kind. I highly recommend him for any car repair, or maintenance. A+

My car broke down on the Lancaster Avenue and Radnor Police Department called this company for a tow. They did arrive promptly, that's the one positive thing I will say. It was Friday early afternoon. You need to get a release slip from the police department in order to get my car released by Sadleirs, but I couldn't get my vehicle released because the officer hadn't filed the report yet. I did speak with Tom, the shop owner, late Friday afternoon. Since the shop doesn't have weekend hours, so my car was essentially held hostage all weekend. He said he wouldn't be able to look at the car until Monday morning; he didn't say anything about towing or other fees to keep the car there until Monday, nor that there might be a fee for him just to look at the vehicle. I got a call fairly early Monday morning from Tom saying my car needs an alternator. For the tow, diagnostics, labor, and part he quoted $773 for a 2007 Acura TL. The tow was $150, labor $190, the alternator $329, and diagnostics $54. My usual mechanic quoted $300 for both parts and labor. When I asked about using a lower cost part, he refused and said he wouldn't do it, even if I purchased one and brought it to him. When I said the quote was very high and told him that my usual mechanic and another shop quoted $300 altogether, he told me I was welcome to take it elsewhere but that he would also charge me $45/day storage (for my car that was held hostage over the weekend because of his business hours). I told him I would like to take the car elsewhere, and he said it would cost $298 to pick up my car ($150 tow plus $45/day storage plus $54 diagnostic plus tax). When I arrived a few minutes later to pay, he refused to take anything other than cash, but of course he hadn't told me that until I arrived. He was clearly upset that he wasn’t getting my business and was charging me as much as he could. It also reflects poorly on the Township of Radnor that this is who they choose to do business with. Don't make the same mistake.

Shabby place, arrogant manager. was extremely rude. Initially said that I will honour the coupon for Malvern auto tags for safety and emission inspection and refused outright on the day of appointment. Not accomodating or reasonable. Wont visit again

Tom Sadleir works alone, but he is a workhorse (as I guess all "saddlers" must be).Handling mechanics of the ever changing foreign car market with computer diagnostics, as well as for the domestic models. he has inspected and changed the oil on my Sunfire and then HHR for almost 10 years. Thorough and honest, he replaced the Sunfire's deer-damaged hood economically and has an on-call painter and prepper, all work Tom is expert at and has several times disassembled cars completely in his spare time, in complete repaints.Tom is friendly with the neighbors in an above and beyond way , and most of his business is word of mouth informed satisfied customers, many surprised he has washed and vacuumed their cars before returning them. Tom works all this into-7-days cycle, balancing this with his police tows and Sadleir tows(in trucks he has painted on-site--including an army monster truck for towing other trucks) . Add this to his being a volunteer firefighter with a wife and daughter Sara, who is demanding of his time, and it is phenomenal that he is so consistent with his quality work. Tom also takes on the Security and Maintenance trucks of Eastern College and always is pleasant to deal with, personally and financially. I give him an A-+.
