Absolutely awful experience with Bob and Mike today. They didn’t direct traffic correctly, but instead yelled profanities at drivers and even told us to “go back to New York.” This place is extremely disappointing, and the employees are disrespectful and discriminatory. I do not recommend this parking lot or this town unless they learn to treat other human beings with respect.

Blah. Went in October on a Tuesday and had to park so far away we decided to bag it. Crazy. On a Tuesday no doubt!!!

They say parking lot is full when it’s not/ don’t let you park even after 8 people pull out…

Great little town. Be aware that a lot of stores are closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, weekend hotels book way in advance!

The crossing guards do not do their job. They just stand on the sidewalk and let cars block the crosswalk. The town is way too tiny to accommodate the amount of traffic they get on weekends. Needs better planning in regards to roads, traffic lights and crossing guards

Tourist trap !expensive parking . To many people for this tiny town, I feel bad for the locals trying to get in and out of town !

Fills up very quiet i would recommend arriving earlier than you have to then take a leisure walk thru the historical town

Study route carefully. No left turns into parking lot during heavy traffic (leaf schedule) seasons.Flowbird app doesn’t accept payment when parking opens, but kiosks work okay. Plenty of parking 6am Sunday, packed by 9 am (our) Saturday. Engineered to be quaint, not efficient.

There's absolutely nowhere to park. I drove around the parking lot for quite some time and never found a place to park so I left. Street parking was not available either.

Arrived fresh out of traffic with a borderline overheating Harley to be told that motorcycles aren’t allowed to park here.

Good location. Easy to find. Hourly rental. Pay Kiosk don't work properly.

BS man. “Paid” 25 bucks to park here for an hour and a half. Got a transaction completed message at the kiosk. Spent money in the community only to come out to find a 50 dollar parking violation ticket on my car. How many times do these kiosks actually fail?? You can have your 25 bucks but I’m not sending in 50 and hope it’s worth it. Never visit or spend another dollar in yhis town

The personnel are exceptionally friendly and eager to provide guidance on utilizing the app for parking payments. Although some reviews cite the expense, $8.00 for the day seems a fair price.

Huge parking. Beware tlthe only option to pay is untill next 6am and it cost $25 on weekends and holidays.. Even if you park for 30 mins you will need to pay until 6am which os not fair... So try to find alternative parking of you can.

Safe place to park your car if you're looking to spend the day in and around Jim Thorpe. Be aware..parking cost 25$ if you're staying for 1 hr or the whole day...same price for all.

Plenty of parking in the main lot near the train station at $8/day during the week, which I think is reasonable. HOWEVER, most of the parking close to downtown and the train station is reserved for employees of, I guess, the train station, Visitor Center, and County Courthouse. Most of those spots were empty during our visit but blocked by cones. The rest of the tourist parking is pretty far from the main touristy area. Considering there is a slight uphill in Jim Thorpe, it makes for a LOT of unnecessary walking. ??

Twenty five dollars a day on the weekend is a total ripoff. First of all, most people only park in the lot for a couple of hours. Why should you pay for twenty four hours. I guess I'll be cutting back on my visits to Jim. Thorpe, I'd rather spend my money Somewhere else.

Went to visit the town a few weekends ago. We had a trialer on the back of our pickup truck so I specificly look for a parking lot we could park in. Online it says trailer parking is avabile. So we got there early in the morning and at first did not see the truck-trailer spots. Then we finally found them there was only two of them. Online it said Saturdays-Sundays for trailer it would be $30.00. Turns out its was $75.00!!! That is crazy! I tried to talk to the man that worked at the parking lot booth, but he very rude and no help at all! There isn't any other parking around the town if you have a trailer with you. So after 45 minutes of trying to find a spot to visit the town we ending up leaving frustrated. So just beware that the online prices may not be accurate. I even mentioned to the worker that online it said $30.00 and he said oh that is the "old price". It is $30.00 on the weekend for cars, but for trailers it was very misleading.

You have to get there early on a weekend or a Holiday weekend. And never had a problem worth the money for all day and night parking. The trolley and train rides are great.

We visited Jim Thorpe a week before Christmas in 2017. The snowfall added to the Christmas spirit for us. All the little shops were interesting to explore. The train ride was nice. It was our second time to ride it and the scenery was the same. No matter what time of year you visit Jim Thorpe, you will find fun things to do. The only drawback was the undertone of the shop owners grumbling about not being able to keep their shops open especially if the mayor called off the town being open for business due to snowfall. The other drawback is the poor choice of places to eat in the little town. The main pub, Molly Maguire’s, is usually swamped and a bit rowdy. All in all, Jim Thorpe is a great place to explore and learn its history. Well worth the trip!

Easy to get parking till 9 AM over the weekend in fall season but after that it’s not that simple. 15$ per car in weekends. There were 2-3 machines to get parking ticket. They accept credit card, cash. just enter the license plate and get the ticket. Beware that some spots are reserved, check before parking.

$15 parking is a rip off if you just want to stop to eat in this town. On principle, this is offensive. The charge is frankly abusive. I will not return to Jim Thorpe because of this. I won’t go places where they basically extort tourists.

This review is more related to the user-friendliness of the lot. We visit a few times a year and one of the kiosks has been out of order for months. There’s no signage for hours or rates that we’ve ever come across. If it wasn’t for a local van driver yelling out his window, we wouldn’t have realized it was free the one time we parked. Perhaps it is better handled on busier days, but I can’t imagine trying to navigate that lot when there’s a flood of tourists. The proper pathway to walk across the train tracks is poorly signaled, so most end up using the area where you enter/leave the lot. This gets especially tricky when a train is parked and people are taking pictures. Hopefully the town can figure out a visual means to help first-timers best navigate that parking lot.

Beautiful town but a complete tourist trap. I had no idea the parking would be so terrible. Drove around for an hour seeing nothing but reserved and permitted parking signs. The places you can pay to park say they close at nine o'clock and will tow your car. This isn't NYC this Podunk pa

I love Jim Thorpe/Mauch Chunk but the parking can be challenging. The big lot was full and we had to park on the street. Kiosk didn't seem to work with credit card or cash. I tried loading the app and mistakenly agreed to terms which were for a gaming/music app. It was in fine print after entering my info. Needless to say, my card was compromised and shut down. No credit card for the day. Cash was the much better option before the kiosks!!! Very upset!

WARNING!, Be sure to check out the parking restrictions, paid 8.00 $ for parking, but we were in the incorrect zone (see photo), even though the signs stated this was for visitors, not really only visitors to the court house not the town, ticket was issued 11 minutes after we purchased the parking ticket. BEWARE this is money maker, they may have gotten an extra 20$ from us but we will never come back. Plus we were parked 480 ft. From the sign, Shame on us.

It’s a large enough parking space, easy to navigate and quite cheap. We paid $8 for a full day of parking (August 2021), and the payment is easily done via parking terminals, a kiosk or an app. Honestly, it was really easy to understand, quick to get validated and as stated, priced decently. Only downside may be the long walking distance if you have to park on the far side, but it’s manageable.

BE ADVISED: Lot is cash only. As of this review (July 2019), the cost is $6.00. Arrive early, especially on weekends or during the busy season. The lot is large but it’s practically the only parking area in town and it will fill up. We had cash but only in $100 bills and the attendant was gracious enough to let us park and either use the ATM at the nearby train station or make change at the Jim Thorpe National Bank (which is gorgeous inside) and pay him later, which we did. Just below the lot is river access where you may see rafting groups putting in. It also is a nice place to cool your feet off in the water after walking around town all day.
