I fell in love with an 81 black on black Vette that AJ posted. Living in Texas I bought the car sight unseen (just pics and video)...any questions I had,RJ answered quickly. Pictures didn't do this car justice....sounds and looks amazing! Paperwork was done quickly and the transporter was on the ball to get it shipped! If you are in the market for a C3 Corvette..... definitely give RJ a call. You will get a quality Vette!

Whoever has owned a Corvette, knows it is a very special car that is built by GM. Parts are very reasonable and very available. If you buy a 'fixer upper ' of any type, it can be lots of work. Try buying a new car for the price of a Hobby Car Corvette. You get Jap Scrap. But a Corvette that has been maintained properly and sold by Hobby Car Corvettes, and, trust me, it'll beat any experience you will ever have!

Hello RJ! Can't tell you how excited Jim is over his "new" old car!! As I mentioned to you in the beginning, he has waited 60 yrs for this car...since a Jr in high school where one of his best friends had a midnight blue vette! The transport Driver which you arranged arrived about 12:15 CST as planned. Was very nice! Gave me all the paperwork, took pictures, etc, etc. Very coincidentally, an 80 yr man, pulled in to our office parking lot near the Vette not 10 min after the transport fellow left. He said he saw the car being unloaded and had to come see it!! He had a red '79 vette....and 6 more up to 2008!!. He was admiring what good shape the car was in and wanted to know all about Hobby Car Corvette for the future. He was a world of info for local resources savvy on the older cars from body and mechanic work to meet /greet/cruise groups. 50 yrs of experience as owner and doing some of his own maintenance/restoration. Thanks so very much to you, RJ and Don for making all of this possible!! Couldn't have been any easier or better a car out there for him. Hope to get up to Pennsylvania when JM retires this year! Have a good weekend! You've made ours!!!

I just wanted to briefly follow up with you on this car. First, I want to thank you. As I have learned more about the market for these cars and other "muscle" cars I am amazed at how much garbage is being sold on the market with rotted frames and pretty paint. The shop I had take a look at the car when they got it on the lift could not stop telling me how great the car was in terms of its structural integrity. As a new buyer, I appreciate that care that you take to make sure these cars are ready to go. Second, I have learned that buying one of these cars is a "project" and that if you are not a "car guy", you will become one shortly if you want to drive it. I used to do all/most of the maintenance on my daily drivers years ago. I can't say I enjoyed it, but it was a necessity. I never liked the pressure of having to get the work done so I could get to work on Monday. I will say that I thoroughly enjoy working on this car. To date, I have done a ton of electrical troubleshooting, set-up the carburetor, installed a new engine harness, cleaned up all the grounds underneath the car, completed a front-end alignment, tweaked the ignition timing, and I had a shop build me some custom distributor wires. Right now, it is running great. I have a bunch of projects planned for the off-season for the car as well. As an added bonus, I have justified a lot of new tool purchases based on the need to work on the car! Thanks again RJ. It was a pleasure doing business with you. Best of luck.

Lesson learned the hard way.... Son found his dream car he asked us (his parents) to go pick it up for him (as he is in the military and could not take leave at that time.) R J. Would not let my husband drive it R J. Had to do all the driving??? Decided to make the deal and bring car home.... Car was sold with no seatbelts so we installed seatbelts to make it safe and street legal. Trailered the Corvette a thousand miles to our son.. Once out there found out it had a blown head gasket. Luckily my son was able to fix that and go through the engine. Only to find out whoever rebuilt the engine did a shoddy job. Tried to call RJ and ask questions about this vehicle.... He would not call back or text us back regarding anything of the vehicle. The only thing this company cares about is money not customer service. Would never recommend this business nor will we ever use this business again. Long story short son was able to rebuild the engine better than it ever was and sold it for a lot higher than what we gave for it. Be careful who you trust in this world. Shame on you RJ for treating our military members this way. We know you knew what was wrong with this car before you sold it.. After this post.... RJ decided to call my husband and son both who was on base at work. He threatened my husband with a lawyer if we didn't remove post... I sincerely hope he changes the way he does some of his business practices..... Letting people test drive the car to make sure that there is not issues with the engine. Answering questions that people have after buying said car. This car was not shipped to our home we drove an hour away from his business to get another U-Haul trailer and brought this home ourselves. He seems very confused regarding our purchase. Wish him the best in his endeavor that we will not be one of his clients again.

We had an excellent experience purchasing our ‘72 Corvette Stingray from Hobby Car Corvettes! RJ was prompt in communication, always quick to respond to our questions, and kept us updated throughout the process. He sent progress photos of the car and provided regular updates, which we truly appreciated. The transport company he recommended was top-notch, making the delivery seamless. The Corvette we received was of amazing quality—every detail exceeded our expectations. Since getting it, we’ve already received numerous compliments on its stunning condition. Even after we received our Corvette, RJ continued to answer any questions we had. Outstanding service from start to finish—we highly recommend them to any classic Corvette enthusiast!

Purchased a 1971 Corvette a couple of weeks ago, and even though it was clearly an “as is” sale, RJ has been nothing but patient and helpful in answering all of my questions since then. I’ve probably already driven over 500 miles, and I’m extremely happy with the car’s performance. Thanks for everything!

I purchased an outstanding 73 convertible. All I can say is this place is awesome! RJ was great to work with. He’s very patient and straightforward with no smoke and mirrors. I drove up to central PA twice and it truly is Gods country. Every one I met was smiling and would wave as I passed by. If you live close, make the drive. If you don’t live close, make a list of specific questions and feel free to ask. I have bought plenty of cars in my half a century and believe me RJ is at the top of the list as a salesman. You can’t beat a straight forward owner operator. This young man is amazing. Don’t get duped with EBAY or some auction that shines up a disaster. This place is as it appears, corvette heaven! I even found a hardtop he sold me at a great price. The beauty of this place is they don’t hound you because the cars sell themselves. To end this I just want to commend RJs dad because I know he’s proud. I wish RJ Sottile and family health and wealth, thank you for helping me find my retirement hobby ! PS No tire kickers allowed !

I’m a first time classic Corvette buyer & contacted Hobby Corvettes regarding a 1968 Corvette convertible. My initial emails were responded to very quickly. I inquired if I could pay to have the car transported to have it checked out. Unprofessionally I was told this is a stupid request to have a car shipped to be checked out & search elsewhere. They actually posted it to their Instagram account . Well, the idea was NOT mine . 3 companies I have contacted permitted this - buyer pays for the transportation, one as far away as Ohio . Hobby Corvettes didn’t suggest anything as an alternative to address my concern. I took their advice & took my business elsewhere-3 weeks later I purchased a nicer car , 68 convertible 2 tops, NCRS Winner, checking all the boxes for slightly more money & more importantly- peace of mind ! They boast that they sell 60-100 cars / year , but not to me ! Also there are reviews of cars arriving not working as described, where buyer is referred to trucking company as if that is the cause of gauges not working . You heard the expression - “you get what you pay for “ - I like to say “you get what you DON’T pay for ! This applies here . I want to thank them for their rudeness to steer me in a direction that allowed me to find a nicer car ! They spend a lot of time fighting bad reviews , maybe they should work on customer service instead of putting out fires !

I WOULD NEVER BUY ANYTHING AGAIN FROM HOBBY CAR CORVETTE!!!!! Do not be fooled by glamorous ads or selective positive reviews from this dealer. I purchased a vehicle from them and initially Mr. RJ may seem polite but he gave me little to no information on the condition of the corvette. He only stated "it's needs restoration". From the pics posted I could fathom that much but as the owner of the vehicle please help customers make an informed decision. Yes...sight unseen is not a good idea but at some point in America we have to get back to trusting people. If not what is the purpose of the 'Support Small Business platform?? These guys were very unhelpful only when it pertained to them receiving your payment. They referred me to the shipper that is linked to their website but this company too is very unhelpful. Eventually the car sat for almost a month with no assistance from anyone. I literally had the shipper tell me to go with another firm. I was so baffled like why cannot you guys ship my vehicle? Money!! They are greedy and un-supporting is why. Don't be a victim...just trust what i'm saying here. I am a decorated soldier at Ft, Bragg (yes RJ remember me ???) and this is how you treat even your soldiers that are fighting and serving just so you can relax and own a shady business?? Fast forward..the corvette arrived at Ft, Bragg (Home of the US Airborne and Special Ops) with a shredded and flat front tire. When I asked Hobby car why was the vehicle shipped with a shredded and flat tire the response was " tire went flat waiting on the transport driver to show up". Really??? How does a car go from an inflated tire in your advertising pic to a shredded and deflated one just prior to shipping? My next question was " Why did not anyone take proactive/reactive measures and replace the tire even with the spare prior to shipping ? " The response I received from Hobby Car was " I need to be lucky that they even waited around for the driver to show up ". Oh so this is how your treat your customers ? Is it ? Obviously so. And yet here I am on Ft. Bragg the largest military base in the world conducting covert operations around the clock just to protect the freedoms of Americans so slime balls like Hobby Car can keep ripping people off. Please buy a used Hyundai before buying ANYTHING from this despicable, sorry, take your money and be done with you dealership. One final note---I would never post anything concerning anyone that was not factually true that I could not back up with evidence. AVOID this dealer!!!!!

Let me start by saying I was in a bit of a bind and needed a second car quickly. So why not buy a classic muscle car. I drove 4+ hours to look at the car. A 1966 mustang coupe with the original motor that had been replaced with a 302. Ran very well. After discussing with my wife I jumped on it and thought I had a good idea of the issues. The paperwork delays were very frustrating. There is no overnight delivery to the middle of nowhere PA. The second issue was my delivery driver was coming out of NYC and hit construction and was heavily delayed. The driver communicated the problem with me and gave me reasonable updates. According to the driver he said he also informed RJ. When the driver arrived RJ was extremely upset and refused to help with the car and motor. When the car arrived the driver was very nice and helpful. The original motor is so badly damaged I still don't know what I am going to do with it. RJ said the motor came on a cart. What he meant was a broken dolly. Other parts were just loose. I have had the car for over a month. I have been forced to make it my daily driver. The first issue was the battery. It would not charge fully, next was the alternator. I was getting almost zero out of it. I opted to go for a much larger alternator and almost lit the car on fire. The old alternator was wired wrong and had the hot wire going directly to ground. The next huge issue was the previous owner had done some horrible modifications to the wiring. Almost every fuse was wrapped in tin foil. I really wish I had noticed this in the showroom. So enough of the long story. Here's a list of the issues so far. The tires were definitely new but probably the cheapest thing available. The car squeals on every corner and is like driving on ice. All of the under hood wiring was neatly wrapped in tape even if it was cracked or just wrong. The this shifter was difficult to say the least because it was wrong for the car. now comes the BIGGEST issue. Someone took great effort to fill and spray black paint over everything in the engine compartment and underbody. A couple days after getting the car the battery bracket broke. Everything under the battery had been fiberglassed, filled and painted black. The driver side floor had the same issue. I now expect the entire car to be a rusted filled mess! If you see black paint RUN! All I can say is you fooled me once. Never again! RJ proved himself to just be greedy and unprofessional! My only action is this google review

I bought a drop dead gorgeous 78 L-82 4spd. For some reason, it Disappeared from the sold section. I bought it in December 2021. The air doesn't work, no biggie. The hood release doesn't, he could have mentioned that or repaired it. The parking brake doesn't, I temporarily have chocks for steeper hills. The car has 4.10 rear gears, the throaty exhaust gets your attention. The mileage to Hershey Pa was 15.7. That surprised me. My main complaints are the things that should have been repaired before it was sold, like the parking brake and hood release. I haven't been able to find a tool to open the hood. I don't want to screw up the paint. His answer to this is dishonest. I didn't open the hoos once he closed it. I THOUGHT I could trust him.The car was parked on flat concrete so the E brake wasn't needed.

I waited a year before posting This review. Just wanted to put the car through it’s paces before I leave a review. I purchased a 1976 corvette and couldn’t be more pleased with the car. It was cruise ready and I have had no issues at all. I have receive nothing but complements from mechanics (inspection only) and enthusiasts complementing the condition of the car for the price. Everyone’s wants to know where I got it. So I’m here to say Hobby Car Corvettes is the real deal. I am always skeptical of online sales. But rest at ease these guys were upfront with the condition and mechanics of the car. Lots of photos and videos. Easy to contact and fast to respond. Helped with financing ideas and helped throughout the shipping process. Just wanted to leave a good word for anyone sitting on the fence.

I bought my yellow 79 L82 manual Corvette from Hobby Car Corvettes. I bought it "sight unseen" which most people advise not to do. I bought it purely on the photos and the video. I was worried but now that I have received my car, I am very pleased with it. It seems to be in very good condition and I have checked the usual rust trouble spots. The more I look at it, the happier I am. I never spoke to RJ in person or even on the phone but I would like to thank him for selling me my dream car.

Before you read my review I implore you to read or skim all the other reviews for this dealership first. I've loved c3 corvettes all my life but was unfamiliar with them so in order to find out what I'd want, I decided to visit this dealership to learn and find out what would be perfect for me. If you've browsed the reviews for hobby corvette you'll notice an overwhelming amount of perfect five star reviews with a few one star reviews. This is very unusual as far as reviews goes but it can happen. However, you may notice that the five star reviews almost always say the same thing: The cars were beautiful, Rj was so professional, the shipping service to my homeland was great, my corvette was showroom perfect, and did I mention Rj was amazingly professional? Very generic reviews that constantly mentioned how amazing Rj was. Also, a lot of international reviewers as well as emphasis on global selling on the website itself. There're about two or three one star reviews, as of now, that are noticeably more specific in their experience with this dealership, all seeming to be local, that describe Rj or "someone" being very standoffish from the first phone call and giving zero information. My father and I had the luxury of not being hung up on the phone and being granted a personal one on one with RJ (at least I'm assuming it was Rj). Once we arrived he let us in his garage, which was a plus I guess, but refused to answer any of my questions with anything useful. When I asked him something simple such as "what the different packages the first generation of c3 corvettes came in," he responded with "There's a couple..." I asked him a question that I already kind of new some answers to, "What are some common problems one would run into when buying a c3 vet?" He responded with basically nothing but "different things." Nothing about the breaks, how the roof and doors leak, gauges break, wipers never work, bird cage can rust, etc. All of which you can find in a two minute google search. Very simple stuff, he mentioned nothing. Unfortunately, Rj's infinite wisdom wasn't enough for me to make any informed decision on what car I wanted so we had to leave. All joking aside, I find it hilarious that one of the reviews describes how Rj spent a ton of one on one time helping the reviewer decide what the perfect car for him was. Maybe I smelled funny, I don't know but I did not get that experience unfortunately. Later that day my father called Rj (again assuming Rj) and asked him why he was so uninformative? He responded with something along the lines of "I'm not here to educate, I'm here to sell cars! You're lucky I let you in at all!" I guess with his associates degree in business he never learned a very basic rule in salesmanship, which is educate the customer! That way they can make an informed purchase and create a trusting relationship with the salesperson. Because then they may come back and spend more money! $$$ Seriously though, with many of these reviews coming from foreigners (many site unseen buyers) and the hobby car website pushing global sales. I'm have to assume this dealership focuses on site unseen sales, especially to foreign buyers. Never Ever Ever buy any cars site unseen! This is especially a true to any foreign buyers! You will get screwed. Always see the car in person and drive it yourself. Even if you are close to this place I would still avoid it. There is clearly some tomfoolery afoot. Rj, if I was your father, I would be absolutely disgusted and disappointed with your business model. You should be making every effort to spread the classic car culture to knew people, especially young people. They are your future customers, they are the people who will keep this culture alive. You can't bank on ignorant foreigners or boomers forever. You need to think of the future of the vintage car economy. Very excited to see your childish response to my review (or other reviewer responding to this review), as you did with other poor reviews. Oh, I also will not be buying any cars from you.

Had the pleasure of meeting RJ and his mechanics. Was able to browse the wide selection of Corvettes. Had so many to chose from that I needed more time to figure out what exactly I desire. Will be making a appointment soon to test drive my top 3 selections and hopefully will be driving away my C3! Exciting

I purchased a 77 Corvette, L48, white / red interior, 4 speed from RJ back in September 2019. I bought this car to give to my wife for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Our anniversary wasn’t until September 26th, so I had to hide it from my wife in my friends garage. Because of the limited time I had before the our anniversary, I didn’t really have a chance to really go through the car, but since then I have. I pulled a full vacuum on the AC system for a good 4 hours, then let it sit under vacuum for another 4 hours to discover there were no leaks. Two and a half cans of R134 later the AC is ice cold, and has stayed that way since. The car starts every single time, we’ve put almost 1,000 trouble free and fun filled miles on it already. She’s taken it to work multiple times and always seems a little happier when she comes home from work on those days. It runs great and I couldn’t be happier. It feels safe and sturdy, and I’m confident that it won’t leave her stranded. As far as the exterior goes, Meguar’s number 7 followed by 26 really brought the original lacquer paint back to life. It was great to meet RJ, I’m glad I had the chance to check out the inventory. It was amazing to see all those C3’s in one place. I couldn’t be happier with the condition, performance, and believe it or not, reliability of this Corvette.

The entire experience was excellent as a one stop shop for purchasing a vette. From the first time that we found the website and appreciated the detail that RJ goes into demonstrating each car he sells ...to our visit to his facility to make a final decision and select one. His advertising was thorough, accurate, and it was a no pressure sale. He helped us to find a car that was the best fit for us and our budget We were looking for a Hobby Vette that was in good running condition that we could maintain, enjoy improving, and use it as a weekend driver. We settled on a dark red 77 L82 manual that was road ready and has proven to be every bit as much fun to drive on the weekends as it looked. Thanks again RJ! I highly recommend you all!

I had been in the market for a chrome bumper C3 for almost a year, and I had visit multiple dealers and Corvette specialists over that time, spanning 5 states, many days off from work, and more hours behind the wheel of my mini-van than I care to admit. I purchased a 1971 Corvette from RJ last month, and I must say that my experience with him was far above and beyond what I experienced at other dealers/specialists - and not just because I found "the car" Hobby Car Corvette was a bit outside of my normal driving radius to look at a car, but I had inquired with RJ about a few corvettes almost a year ago and he was always very quick and forthcoming with his responses - so 2 months ago when I saw that he had acquired a few cars that piqued my interest, I decided to take the trip. Leading up to the road trip, RJ provided information about each car including a 'ballpark' price - at my request - to make sure I was not out of my financial range (the cars were just taken in and had yet to be 'gone over', so a price was not yet listed). A few weeks and weather related reschedules later, I walked in to greet him. Worth noting that he agreed to meet before normal business hours, which I thought was very respectful of him considering the drive home I had ahead of me. The experience there was top-notch. I felt zero pressure, and I never felt rushed when asking RJ questions - and that is saying something because I was there for a few hours. I will also add that I had the pleasure of speaking with both of his parents at length, and they too were very knowledgeable and friendly...and we shared a few stories and laughs. When I finally selected my new car, RJ provided some maintenance tips and encouraged me to email him as questions arise. Since the purchase, he has been quick to respond to any questions I had, and helped arranged shipping for both the car AND the original engine block at a very competitive rate. I am thoroughly satisfied with RJ, the Sottile family, and Hobby Car Corvettes, and would gladly recommend them to anyone in the market for a corvette.

We purchased a 1975 Stingray in Dec 2016. It's been a reliable driver and has won many trophies at car shows. Since purchasing the car we've done some work on the rear brake lines, and are still working on getting the air conditioning to work. It's an old car! RJ was honest about the car and its condition, and was great to work with.

RJ has been very helpful to the C3 community. I see his posts on FB Corvette sites all the time, answering people's questions regarding parts or repair of their C3. RJ came out and opened up his new showroom on a Sunday last year because I called him and told him I was in the area and wanted to see his showroom with my son (knowing we were just kicking tires and not buying anything!). We bought one from his place a few years ago for a dedicated employee as a surprise. He helped us pull it off. My guy just loves his '80 4-speed. Thanks, RJ.

Bad experience with this place drove 3 hours to be disappointed. RJ is not professional by far, he shows no interest to sell anything and doesn’t let you know what has already been sold unless you’re looking at a car he will walk over push you out of the way and tell you while shutting the hood “ah yeah this car is sold thats why we don’t touch“. That cost him $25000 that day. Cars are overpriced anyway.

RJ is awesome! We live in O’Fallon, IL. and did something we swore we would never do...buy a car sight unseen! After doing our “homework” and talking to RJ numerous evenings on the phone, we took the leap and bought our gorgeous yellow ‘79 survivor, without leaving the comfort of our living room. RJ was so, so patient, answering our many questions and sending us lots of pictures. He made the whole process very stress-free. When our Vette arrived at our front door we were ecstatic! The car is exactly as RJ had described and as we expected it to be. If you’re in the market for a C3, do yourself a favor and check out his inventory. When you find “the car”, relax and know that RJ is the real deal...honest, professional, and he know his Corvettes!

Found Hobby Car Corvettes on the internet and drove 4 hours to get there, but it was worth it. We got a beautiful 1980 Corvette and very friendly service. RJ was very helpful even after the purchase. He set up delivery for us and gave us tips to help maintain our beautiful car. We love this car !!!!

Bought my first Corvette from RJ and crew last year. The price for my '71 roadster was fair/reasonable and came in the condition that was described by RJ. Being this vette was my first classic car I kept bombarding RJ with stupid questions daily for a week or so...he was very professional and helpful. Will recommend to others.

C3 Experts - I bought a 1978 Vette from RJ and Bob in April 2016, RJ did a great job explaining the vehicle, and shared his vast knowledge of corvettes. Helpfully advising many things to me during the sale and post-sale about corvettes. He continued to respond by email to any question I had, always offering helpful suggestions and solutions. This location is the place to buy C3 corvettes on the East Coast, all are fairly priced and mechanically sound. When I am ready for my next corvette, Hobby Car Corvettes will be my first stop. - Best Regards to RJ & Bob John R- New Jersey

1974 White Corvette RJ went above and beyond our expectations in helping us select and purchase our Corvette. Hobby Car Corvettes blew away our local competition. Prices were right in line with the market, where a local used corvette dealership was listing much higher than market value. Their friendliness in communication leading up to our visit to the dealership was far better than the local dealership. They even assisted in coordinating a car transport service to have it shipped back to us. Driving over 8 hours to Hobby Car Corvettes was well worth our time.
