Mike has been great to work with since my old mechanic retired. He’s very accommodating and polite. Been 2 years now and I highly recommend him and his sons.
I've been a customer at West Penn for all of my vehicle maintenance, but after a recent visit, I won’t be returning.
During an oil change and tire rotation, they called and told me a stud was over-tightened. I pointed out that I’ve only ever had work done at their shop; logically, it would have been one of their own mechanics. They immediately denied any responsibility, claiming it couldn't have been them.
Rather than argue, I accepted their explanation at face value, and paid my bill in full and respectfully let them know that I’d no longer be bringing my business there.
They left a typed letter and $20 in cash under the invoice on my front seat; not as a sincere gesture, but as a passive-aggressive parting shot. The letter reiterated that they didn’t think it was their fault and criticized me for bringing my own oil and filter (something they had never brought up as an issue before). It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and left a bad impression.
Ironically, their education of bringing my own oil made me realize it’s better to support local shops by letting them supply parts too; something I would’ve been happy to do for them had they addressed it professionally.
This shop had all the opportunity to maintain a long-term customer relationship, but instead chose defensiveness and condescension. I can’t recommend West Penn to anyone looking for professional, honest service.
This place is honest & fair, their prices are substantially better than other places that have tried to add unnecessary work to my bill stating it "needed to be done". I've taken my vehicle to West Penn & they've told me I still have another year left on my tires, there wasn't a need to get them immediately. It's a 20 min drive for me, so I get oil changes close by & these places always try to upsell & "diagnose issues", giving me quotes of $900+, but when I take it to W Penn, they'll save no it's actually just this small part & we can have it done for you & the total is always a fraction of the price I was quoted elsewhere. The only down side is that they're always booked several weeks in advance, because they're THAT good and have so many customers, so you have to plan to get your car in for service. If there's an emergency you can leave your car & they'll take a look if/when they can squeeze you in, even if you have to leave it they usually look at it the same or next day & depending on what's needed can repair it in that time too (unless a part had to be ordered ofc). Always friendly, always honest, very trustworthy!
Excellent service! Very friendly and reasonably priced. Can't say enough good stuff. Taking all 3 of my families vehicles here and recommending to everyone I talk to.
When we moved to the area a few years ago, I was at a loss on where to take our vehicles.

Mike and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Mike always takes the time to explain things and is as honest as they come! Prices are extremely reasonable, as well.

This place is excellent! I stopped by without an appointment, I'm new to the area, and the mechanic diagnosed my front-end issue and got me in quick. Fees were very reasonable, I will be returning.
Mike is a fair, honest person. He is doing good business because he works at his business. Watched him grow and do well for almost 20 years. Good people and good, quality work. You won't be disappointed.
Better than a dealership... Very friendly and out going... Took my 18 Accord for service and got what I paid for. Not like performance Toyota.. were I found out that I was paying for a service that I was not getting.. very fair in pricing also, will recommend everyone I know...
West Penn is top notch. Upfront about what you need done. Fair pricing great work ethics. Mike and his team get the job done right the first time. Been using thier services for years. Don't have to worry about going anywhere else.
I have been going here ever since I had a car. At 13$ of labor for general service and tire rotation I can't afford to do it myself, or anywhere else. I appreciate their honesty and general knowledge of autos.
This is the most honest place I have been to in my life. Keeps my cars running and on the road. Never tries to nickel and dime me. And when my car broke down and my AAA had run out, I called him to find out who I should use for towing and he gave me the number of a decent place to have me towed.
I have had several cars both Nissan and Chevrolet and the dealers around here tried to screw me over as well as several repair shops. I actually ended up going to west penn after the Nissan dealer tried to pull one over on me. I have never used anyone else since. I reccomend them to everyone.
We were very very happy with our service here! They were referred here from another local, and I can really see why! My husband is very picky with his mechanics, and he knew their prices were very fair, the work was done on time and communication was great. We will be returning customers!
Went to another local garage for about 7 years until they recently closed. I decided to stop here, and another garage to give a list of things I needed done for my vehicle. I spoke with Mike at the shop. He called me within an hour to give me a quote. The other shop called me back a week and a half later. Picked up the vehicle today, and the quote was exactly what I paid. Was done in one days time. Very appreciative with Mike and everyone else who works there's service. Will be using them from now on, and I certainly recommend.
