I was minding my business and not paying attention to the junction and missed the turn to 95 North and then I realized I was almost out of gas. Pulled over in Basque, Oregon. Made multiple phone calls to different gas stations (without help) I then found JV repair. One of the nicest ladies and most understanding drove out of her way to bring me 5 gallons of gas and then let me follow her back into Rome where I filled up and made it home. Thank you so much for helping me out, especially over Labor Day weekend. You and your family are wonderful.

Certain outstanding people and their businesses demand more recognition than a 5-star review can give, so allow me to tell a brief story: While trying to get home to Idaho my usually trustworthy Jeep blew its harmonic balancer outside McDermit, Nevada. I called JV Repair for a tow to Winnemucca and the owner-operator, Shawn Johnson, arrived from somewhere beyond Jordan Valley with a flatbed exactly when he said he would. The shoulder where my truck came to a halt had a fair amount of slope to it, but Shawn was able to winch me out onto the flatbed safely and efficiently. I then enjoyed the better part of a 2-hour drive to Winnemucca with Shawn talking all things car and truck related. Once we got to town, Shawn made a stop for me at the local Auto Zone to pick up a new balancer, and then waited patiently again as I frantically called around to locate a shop that was open and willing to take my truck in. Now, fast forward 8 hours: Back on the highway I hear a nasty rattle and the Jeep breaks down again a mile outside Jordan Valley, Oregon—the Winnemucca mechanics evidently forgot to tighten down the engine fan nuts, and more than that, several of the studs have almost completely worked themselves out of the housing. Tired and thirsty, I walk the mile to town to borrow a wrench from Jim’s Sinclair, and, by coincidence, I learn the mechanic there is a cousin of Shawn’s. Small world, I think. On the walk back I’m charged by an angry badger and then I discover the wrench won’t fit. Desperate and dehydrated, I begin the walk to town to return the wrench and give up on the idea of getting to see my family that weekend. But lo and behold, who do I see but Shawn Freakin’ Johnson rounding a corner in my direction. He rolls down the window and says, “I heard you were in trouble. Let’s go have a look at the Jeep.” What happened over the next 30 minutes was pure magic: Using pliers and ancient Jeep wisdom, Shawn re-seats the fan stud bolts and then proceeds to cannibalize the missing nuts OFF HIS OWN TRUCK so I that I can be on my way (mind you all of this is taking place in 95-degree heat). Some people go above and beyond. Still fewer people like Shawn Johnson don’t know any other way. Shawn got me home to my family. There’s nothing I can do or say to repay him for that—he of course tried to refuse the cash I had but I insisted. CALL THIS MAN WHEN YOU GET STUCK.

JV repair answered my call despite the fact they were not at their shop. They were on vacation. However they took the time to hear out my problem and told me about some man down the road that could diagnose my problem. Thank you super much. Your friend in Rome was thorough and very reassuring.
