I was told by my father to bring my work van here as I had been told from a dealership after attempting to get my oil changed that they suspected I had a blow head gasket. The dealership said if it was a blown head gasket that I’d need a new engine. So I called my dad who told me to bring it to Dave. Dave figured out the problem and gave me an oil change. Dave gave me a new thermostat along with fixing the coolant leak. Well when he was done I paid him and drove my van home which was 30 minutes away. Halfway home something popped and blew all my coolant out resulting in overheating. I had my fiancé tow me back to the shop after I called them. The part they replaced had an extra port that my vehicle didn’t take and the factor plug on there blew off they replaced the plug with a non coolant bypass plug. It had got my by for a couple weeks before it blew right through that plug and I had replaced it with a coolant bypass plug and got my by for a couple more weeks before it wouldn’t stop overheating. Mention all these times it happened I was on the road for work. Well as I stated earlier I live 30 minutes away from Dave’s and didn’t want to tow it myself back there or pay for a tow I called Dave he said to take it back to him and he’d figure it out. Well there’s a shop by my house I took it to. They had figured out the problem was the thermostat that was replaced by dave. They thermostat was defective. When I told Dave about this and asked him to make it right bc the repair costed me 500 on top of Dave’s repair for 1150. I said I don’t have ac and had a couple other issues. Dave said bring it by on Thursday and I did. He recharged the ac but forgot to address the issue of when I pump gas I have to stand by the pump bc it just keeps triggering like it’s full. He printed out some things that it could be causing this. Then proceeded to tell me that it was 86 for the recharge. And argued with me when I told him I wasn’t going to pay and he said I find it weird you haven’t been having problems with it blah blah blah. Then proceeded to say you don’t need to pay but don’t ever come back here. Safe to say I would never use him again or recommend him to anyone. The only reason I drove that far was bc that’s where I grew up and my father vouched for him
I took my wife's care here after being referred. We had called around about getting an issue fixed, and their quote was spot on and cost as much to repair as other places were going to charge me simply to diagnose. Another shop quoted 5-6 hours of work and a hefty bill, but Dave took the car in, despite being booked and got it repaired in between other appointments in less than 3 hours. I can't thank them enough about how honest they've been and for the quality of work they did for us.
David and good team did a wonderful job with my vehicle repair. He treated me with respect and courtesy. I appreciate his commitment to getting the job done correctly and completely. I will continue seeking out his services when I am in need of a major automotive repair!
Dave at M D is one of last of a dying breed of mom and pops mechanics you can trust to treat you right, give timely, honest, and quality work, and a fair price. This place is a gem in a small town, we have been using for a few years, and will continue to patronize!
Dave has worked on several AC problems I've had over the past 3 years on different vehicles and has always treated me very fairly. Honest work, good prices, and years of experience.
For a small town country shop they seem very busy but still took the time to help me out and check out a potential emergency issue with my truck. Great guy great shop I would highly recommend them to anyone!
