We have a 1952 MGTD Kit car and was having problems with the engine. It would run then stop, back fire, and just not running right. We heard about Jim’s Custom VW called and talked to Jim. 3 weeks later we are taking a 1 1/2 drive to drop off the MGTD. Jim rebuilt the engine and we had a new exhaust pipes put on. When the car started up it brought tears to my eyes! This car was unbelievable! We took it for a ride and there are no words what Jim and his worker did for us! Tears rolling down my face as the wind was hitting my face. Anyone that brings there car to Jim’s will be walking away very satisfied and happy that you took that 1 1/2 ride out!
Quality shop and people! Amy answers the phone and works mostly up front and is very kind as well as helpful! Jim, is a wealth of knowledge and services the VW community loyally and knows what he is doing! Large inventory of parts in the shop if you need anything and large inventory of skill and knowledge for those of you who need repairs and service to your classic air cooled VW. They also host an incredible VW show! Must come! Must patronize!
The owners are very knowledgeable about all things VW. They offer lots of services for your VW.i believe three times a year they have swap meets and a car show.
My brother and I needed a ‘62 VW brake reservoir, tube, grommet, and hose. Jim and his wife were a wealth of knowledge and had all the parts we needed. They also gave us a lot of great advice and instruction for what we were fixing. Excellent customer service!
JIM'S CUSTOM V.W.S have been the times I spent at the shows and driving old vws there over the years. About any part you need and great shop work. Spreading the sport I took my granddaughter last weekend. Just a great place to visit and the shows are first class. Thanks for a great place and all your hard work putting these shows on.
Jim is the best! He take’s the time to make sure you get going, whether it be answering questions, or full motor rebuilds, he does it all. I recently had a 1600 dp rebuilt by Jim and it runs so smooth, and his attention to detail was amazing, he even went the extra mile to paint the tins and block and make it look new. Very grateful to have a good local Vw shop like this one!

I discovered Jim's on, The Samba forums. Based on recommendations I sent him a engine case to machine and assemble as a 90.5 x 78 2 ltr.
Jim was always available to answer questions and make recommendations, dispel rumors and conjecture. I am totally confident the engine is, "Done Right"

I have a 2276 cc motor with duel 44 idf carbs for my 73 beetle that i had very bad issues with the carbs popping as i drove. Jim's team properly adjusted them did numerous other task that werent pre-planned and they even finished before the original 2 hours they thought it would take. They have a great customer friendly crew that really knows their stuff. They have a fair hourly rate and even more fair on parts cost. I wish I wouldve taken my car their as soon as the motor was built. Thanks Jim and crew!
Jim is a genius and a life saver for those of us that have VW engines in our work equipment as I do. I use an airboat designed and built in Florida that runs on the older 1600CC VW engine. I suffered for years through our local (Canton) and surrounding area mechanics who all were unable to solve carburetor issues I was having year after year. My local foreign auto parts supplier whom would sell me a new carburetor every one to two years would simply blame it on poor workmanship which was then made in Mexico. THEN ONE DAY!!! I fortunately found Jim's Custom VW on the Internet!!!!!! Jim tuned my EXISTING carburetor up in ways that no other mechanic was able to match. My airboat ran perfect without the poor idle and running issues I was having over a nearly 20 year period.. Even as I type this today, I am taking my airboat back to Jim for a more serious situation I have had with the engine while working on a lake. (My alternator/cooling belt broke and I overheated the engine as I was not aware that the belt had broken) IMHO, you will not meet a more honest or competent mechanic than Jim from Jim's Custom VW!!!!!
Got a set of stock SP heads rebuilt here by Jim. Quality work I’ve put almost 10k on them since installing with no issues. Pleasure to drive. Excited to get my next set back for my bus. Very friendly staff as well!
