What clients say about Southern Metals Recycling Inc in Wilmington (NC)

Horrible Customer Service, the guy in the office has such a horrible attitude and personality! It’s my 3rd time there and he has never greeted me or been nice at all. He gestured me to get out and come back with my ID like I was a street dog! Would never recommend this place.

Better prices than any other recycling center in 4 counties. Courteous staff, easy to locate, in and out quickly.

Took my first load of scrap in today 2/9/23 which consisted of a two walled steel culvert and some other miscellaneous steel. Culvert had been crushed and shook (knocked dirt out of) before hauled to scrap yard. The scaler took 400 lbs. off of my net weight due to dirt without even coming out of the scale house. (Looking through a window or camera one). There was absolutely no way 400 lbs worth of dirt on or in this pipe. Scaler didn’t mention a thing to me about the dirt or docking me. I noticed when I got in the truck that my weight wasn’t what was shown on the screen weighing out or what the scaler had wrote down on his book of paper tickets. I went back into the scale house and questioned the money and weight. Scaler had a terrible attitude, got very defensive and was very rude. All he had to do was address to me initially and we could have discussed and/or looked at my load. We are doing several dozen culvert replacements for Weyerhaeuser Company. I won’t be hauling any of these heavy steel culverts back to Southern Metal Recyclers on Hwy 421 in Wilmington. Check your weight in and out, and pay attention to your money is all I can say.
