Swain Towing is honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. My car got towed at 2:30 in the morning from my own apartment complex over a parking tag issue, even though my car is literally registered with the property. When I went to get my car back, the guy working there was incredibly rude and difficult for no reason. I had to argue just to get a receipt, which should be the most basic thing ever. He kept pushing back like he didn’t want to give me one at all. He only takes cash and completely makes up a number. The whole situation got even weirder because he was clearly listening in on a private conversation I was having with someone who came with me. The second he thought we mentioned the police which we didn't, he basically ran off and left in his personal car. That alone made the whole thing feel sketchy. Between the attitude, the lack of professionalism, and how shady the whole interaction felt, this company comes off as predatory and completely untrustworthy. It honestly seems like they just show up in the middle of the night looking for any excuse to tow cars and make money.

Very rude. They prey on college student apartments and only take cash. Would give zero stars if I could!

This place is very shady….beware. We were told the price to get our car back was 200 when we get there we were told 240. Report submitted to better business bureau.

Absolutely rude! They don't even deserve one star! Power/ money hungry jerks! Parking pass in the car but slightly obscured. They didn't care. What happens when it snows and can't see in the car? Everyone gets towed? Knowing these perks, probably!

Predatory towing practices. My vehicle was towed overnight with a legitimate parking pass in the window. The pass slightly obscured and that was an excuse enough to tow. Cash only. Police were no help. How does the city let them get away with this?

Basically harassed and yelled at me when I simply asked to use my debit card to pay since there is a new law about how they must accept that form of payment. Then when I got there was very weird and shady about who could come with me to get my car.

Getting towed from your own apartment complex and paying $240 to get your car back is insane. My daughter forgot to put her pass up on the rearview, which is on her, but after showing proof that she was a resident she was still made to pay $200. These are disgusting people who prey on desperate college students. By the way, they only take cash.

Zero stars for this place. Absolutely unprofessional and disgusting behavior exhibited by grown men. All that was asked for was a receipt, they didn't want to fully fill it out. NEVER go by yourself always have someone with you sketchy business and people.

This business is running under the name Swain Collision but the trucks have Valley Towing on them causing confusion. Multiple disconnected numbers online make it hard to find your vehicle. They are aggressive & predatory with towing. They prey on college kids who have no choice but to pay them. It is a college town. They local predatory tow company operating around the campus (not on) wasn't mentioned at orientation. They wait in lots and "literally the minute" you go over time or your pass expires they tow your car. They charge $300 cash only for impounded tows. My daughter's rental car was towed from her resident lot when the temporary pass expired she had while her annual pass was on her registered vehicle at the body shop an hour and a half away making it impossible to retrieve. Her temporary resident pass expired at midnight and they IMMEDIATELY started hooking up and towed her. They proudly told me with sarcasm that they tow immediately and it was confirmed on their paperwork. She was asleep and came out at 5:00 am to go to work to find her car missing and had to call into work. By the time we were able to find a working number and get in touch with an extremely rude and disrespectful man to find out how to get it back she was unable to go to work at all. We communicated we were on our way to get the car and he left the lot. We had to wait for him to come back and he would not open the gate until I paid him cash in the pouring rain. I had to insist on a receipt. Where is that money going? He claimed it was because people would flag the charges as fraudulent after they left. There is a dispute process if that actually happens to him. Seems sketchy to me. After my daughter pulled out I attempted to ask what kind of equipment they towed with to be sure the car's drivetrain had not been damaged and was then cussed and threatened by some woman in her ratty sweats who came busting out of the trailer they apparently live in there. I had not dealt with her at all and was speaking to the man who had spent a 10 minute phone call screaming at me. I left and proceeded to the sheriff's department, the local police department, and then the town offices to file complaints. Absolutely ridiculous behavior from grown adults who should be more professional. I contacted the apartment complex because the tow company blames them for stalking their residents, and was told they could not get any other tow company to monitor the parking lots and do tows without being called each time specifically about each vehicle. Possibly because the other tow companies have morals and operate with ethical business practices in mind. This one certainly doesn't.

I am not one to write a complaint about anything ever. I don’t even say anything at a restaurant when my order is wrong. But was towed against my consent recently. I have reason to believe my car was not fully hooked up to the truck while I was trying to get them to let me move my car. I explained I was just dropping someone off and I have arthritis in my back so I could not walk from visitor parking to drop them off. I left my car for two minutes and it was already beginning to be set up to towed. They asked for 200 cash and they would drop it then. They promised me that it would be 200 when I went to get my car. When I arrived I had to wait 20 minutes for staff and was already running late for work because of their absence from the business. They claimed the price was now $240 because I was a resident of a different apartment and they could not charge me the price they had given me originally. May I add Extremely rude staff! If you have several complaints against your attitude while being the manager of a business, especially a business where you put stress and fees on people by towing against their consent. You should consider being more mindful of your tone. They seem extremely unprofessional in every aspect of their business and when I asked to speak to the owner I was refused. Please if you have any power to pay this company DO NOT DO IT. Complain to your apartments for using this company before you are me.

Terrible company. Predatory pricing. Charging broke college students for mistakes. All they care about it money. What they do should be illegal. $290 for a 5 mile tow and accidentally being 1 spot over from a visitor spot for 1 day.

TLDR: They unlawfully towed my car and still refused to give me my car even after they realized they messed up. I had my car parked in an apartment complex with a valid parking pass hanging from my rear view mirror. I walk outside in the morning to go to work and my car was just missing. I found out they towed it and over the phone they said it was because I had no parking pass (they lied). They then realized I did have a parking pass when looking at my car (why they hadn’t done this earlier is beyond me) and the pass just wasn’t hanging completely vertical because I didn’t do a good job hanging it which is on me but it was still completely visible, just crooked. If they had just taken more than 5 seconds to look for it they would have seen it but all they care about is money. They tried charging me $240 which was eventually brought down to $50. I told the guy working there how the pass was visible and he told me I was wrong because it was only visible because the sun was out and last night it was too dark to see (which makes no sense because the pass is neon yellow). I had to get to work though so I had no choice but to give him the money even though what he did was illegal. I was still super late to work as well so I lost wages. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and left the parking pass untouched so I could see if it was visible tonight and not only is it visible but I didn’t even need a flashlight to see it so the towing guy was completely full of crap and made up a bogus story. I don’t even care about the money at this point. More just the fact that these people are just genuinely bad people with zero moral compass who think nothing of how their actions affect other people, but only how much money they can make. He made me late to work and tried charging me $240 for something that was his fault. And literally stole my property.

Only reason they didn't get a 1 star is the man on duty was nice enough to help me search through the belongings in my totalled vehicle, and was understanding that I was injured and needed help collecting my things. He even went and got me a cup of ice water. Prices are highway robbery, I was charged initially 300 dollars for a 12 mile tow from an accident, with 50 dollars a day for lot storage after that. Offered to sell it to them for scrap, as the tires were practically new, easilly could fetch at least 600 dollars for the set, not to mention the back half of the car being in good condition. They charged me 150 dollars on TOP of signing over the title, to stop any more day fees. Do NOT let them tow your vehicle to their lot unless you want to be robbed of your money.

I got towed by them when parking at Riverwalk apartment's and to get my vehicle was a very horrible experience. I talked over the phone and the lady told me just 200$ and didn't get informed until I got there that it was CASH ONLY. And the man that was working the morning was extremely rude when my ride there was turning around he said " well ya better catch your ride then" so that I could go get the 200$ in cash from an ATM. In my experience as being someone who wasn't in an emergency I definitely know I would never call them in need of an emergency I would rather call dukes towing or Adam's towing as the best recommendations and D&M towing or even AAA towing

Darreld and Christine were amazing! Our car was broke down in an awkward parking lot with very little room to work and yet they safely managed to get it onto the rollback and resettle it at our home. They were very prompt, friendly and professional! Very fair tow charge!!! Thanks again!!!!!

Use ANY other service. Staying on the side of the road during a hail storm would be better than using this place.
