Raven Rock Overlook – Breathtaking Mountain Views in the Afternoon Breeze
I visited this overlook on a sunny afternoon, and it was absolutely stunning. The blue sky, drifting clouds, and rolling mountain ranges created a picture-perfect view. The light and shadows danced across the valleys, making the whole scene come alive.
Parking is convenient, and the overlook is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The gentle afternoon breeze makes it the perfect place to relax, take photos, or simply sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. Open 24 hours, it’s a peaceful spot to unwind and recharge.
Beautiful view of the Boone, overlooking Tweetsie! It’s is a hidden gem. Won’t give it away, sorry, but certain days of the year it has the best views, which everyone is seeking! Show up with some fruit, food, and drinks, and enjoy the company!
I've been here several times this was a pleasant surprise to discover. It has a nice hiking trail just off the side of the blue ridge with parking. It's a great place for hiking as well as watching the sunset
Talk about BEAUTIFUL. Was busy when we stopped, we went at sunset and there's a lot of space to hang out. Absolutely breathtaking!! Great to watch the sunset and look over the mountainscape. Kid friendly, because there is no hike to this. Parking is right there. Pictures do not do this justice!!! Absolutely need to see in person! The road up is winding and curvy, if you aren't used to driving mountains ? but it's not terrible to drive.
This is a beautiful overlook.
It’s opposite of the valley and you look more up hill then down the mountain like you’d see up the street. None the less it’s a brilliant area with an easy parking area right off the parkway.
Raven Rock Overlook is a great spot to take in some phenomenal views in a cool setting. People can be seeing hanging out on the rocks, having a picnic, and just pausing take it all in. Parking can be tricky when leaf viewing season is in full swing, but it's worth totally worth the stop.

Theres lots of rocks to climb on, if you dare & lots of nice rock formations to fill your facebook page with selfies. Theres a STEEP pathway down into the rocks on the parkway-north end beyond the end parking space, with more selfie spots below

a 10-story mountaintop monstrosity that has turned Sugar Mt (5000') & the Grandfather Mountain (5943') panorama into a western nc eyesore since 1983 (as you get closer YOU'LL SEE IT)
A beautiful spot to watch the sunset near Boone and Blowing Rock. There were about 30 people there during our last visit. Arrive early for the best seating on the rocks. Parking is limited.
The view was nice but there are no trails and only rocky mountain tops that go straight down. If it comes up on your hike trail searches this is NOT the place for you. It's designed for drivers to have somewhere to pull over so they can view the mountains for a minute and move on with their travels.
And. I found a bit of trash around there. Not sure if anyone comes up to clean the bottle caps or anything else people drob there. Found some broken glass. Watch your little paws that walk around there.
One of the best parts of Coopers Rock State Forest. The trail out is a long hike, but worth it. One can see large rocks and abundant wildlife on the way. The overlook is beautiful and open, with great views.
